I love how this guy knows his stuff. He totally understands the trick behind the Ceramic Speed demo. Its not just the friction of the drive train but the friction of the freehub.
Came to say the same thing. Love GCN but they don't have the rider walk them through their bikes. GTN getting in w the athletes has been amazing. "Why" is always so much more valuable than "what".
It will be hard to beat such an interview, even better than Spartacus interviewed by GCN about his TT bike. Great questions and the guy really knows his stuff!
Excellent video. Many Thanks. It is so good to see a top athlete giving a detailed explanation on how & why they like their equipment. The CeramicSpeed demo is pretty cool too.
A-ma-zing, some guys mentionted it before, so do I. The best video so far, congrats! :-) Friendly guy who knows perfect his bike, what and why. Data and power, jokes, etc. Congrats again
Really interesting video, especially for someone interested in cycling moreso than Tri. Tyler is obviously very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. More like this please!
Luuuuvv this format, so much more interesting to get the take of the bike's owner. GCN could perhaps learn from you on this one! great video keep em coming.
I also use double hydration between the tt bars - it's fantastic! Believe Rinny was the first pro to adopt it (Kona 2015?) - I saw it and was like, damn it's ingenious!
Enjoyed the video. I do wish he had been a bit more methodical in his overview (jumped a bit all over the place). But, I still liked the video a lot! Thanks for the content!
But seriously, Tyler made Heather's job easy. Maybe not the editor's job, I imagine there must've been 3 hours of material ;) Almost looks as if he were auditioning to join the channel as a presenter ;)
Well building the bike for the tri race is just personal ! I love P5 better than P5X (which looks like a motorcycle) To me, having the extended aero bar not mathematically functional for controlling your machin to race! ...
Looks like the free wheel needs a little service. A common problem with Mavic. I stopped having mine serviced because it was worthless in 2 months. Pedal and it doesn't matter.
I’m sorry but no way is bodged on fairings to a low weight brake as advantageous as the correct brake with a properly fitted brake and fairing..... Also weight by cervelo’s own admission (all public information) the tipping point for weight verses aero is climbs of 20km+ at 23+kmh , rather than worrying about facts and figures he’s trying to be creative at a full determent to the bikes performance...
Real bike nerd. Great guy and video!
We need more of these! This guy is bringing the show to next level
I love how this guy knows his stuff. He totally understands the trick behind the Ceramic Speed demo. Its not just the friction of the drive train but the friction of the freehub.
Best Pro bike video so far (dare I say on both GCN and GTN channels?), with all the needed explanation. Thanks for that.
i guess it's the athlete who made it great
Came to say the same thing. Love GCN but they don't have the rider walk them through their bikes. GTN getting in w the athletes has been amazing. "Why" is always so much more valuable than "what".
How many Pros (road or Tri) know what is on their bike?
100% agree...by far!
That's because he built it and he figured stuff out himself. It wasn't just built for him by the team mechanic.
It will be hard to beat such an interview, even better than Spartacus interviewed by GCN about his TT bike. Great questions and the guy really knows his stuff!
Talk about super accommodating and open! That was awesome.
This guy has preparing for this his whole life. Did at least 4 rehersals in his hotel mirror.
Excellent video. Many Thanks. It is so good to see a top athlete giving a detailed explanation on how & why they like their equipment. The CeramicSpeed demo is pretty cool too.
This is by far the best pro bike check across all three channels. Great stuff GTN
Tyler is very nice. Explained everything in deep level. Cool!
Really enjoy having the rider walk us through his gear. I usually skip these bike videos, but glad I watched this one.
That was the best pro bike run through + discussion you ever published. Tyler Butterfield is brilliant. Pls. try to get him in the show more often.
Best vid so far, love to see this kind of details!
I am no triathlete or duathlete anymore, but this video is very nice. Tyler knows why he is what doing. Hope you bring more of them
What a great and nice athlete! Not a lot of them would take time to share all those tips and tricks! Impressed!
This was my favorite video so far on GTN thanks Tyler for being so open and generous!
the best bike set up I´ve ever seen thanks guys and of course Tyler!!!!
By far the best and most enjoyable pro bike presentation video so far! Great to hear and see Tyler talk about his bike in such a detail :-D
A-ma-zing, some guys mentionted it before, so do I. The best video so far, congrats! :-) Friendly guy who knows perfect his bike, what and why. Data and power, jokes, etc. Congrats again
Absolute surgeon, mega to hear him go into detail
Both GCN and GTN with the best pro bike videos in depth this week!
Thats a ton of information! Best bike video so far and boy is he a class A bike nerd and I mean that in a good way! Awesome and best of luck Tyler!
Best pro bike video i have seen to date. What an interesting guy.
there you can see a marginal gains nerd at its greatness
interesting as hell though!
Tyler a true bike nerd. Great to see, warms my nerdy bike heart.
Fantastic in depth analysis of the bike leg!
This is the story i want to hear every time
Really interesting video, especially for someone interested in cycling moreso than Tri. Tyler is obviously very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. More like this please!
I wonder if Tyler knows more about his bike setup than a lot of pro cyclists? #Torqueback
Best pro bike yet!
Great to hear from the athlete, love the attention to details
Probably the best bike video. Amazing, keep it up guys.
Best Pro bike video! A lot of insides!
Love all the information. How in-depth! Can tell how passionate he his
Wow. Now THIS is why you get them to talk about their bikes. Damn. Thumbs up.
I love this guy! Maybe bring him on to GTN for bike setup tips on a regular basis!
This video is great, we need more of these
great video and insights! Tyler knows his stuff!!
Wow thats a great interview and so much detail.....
Duct tape, shoe laces, and sand paper peeled of the train station stair steps are the best friends for hi-tech enthusiasts.
Great video, and what a great guy too! Generous with his time, sharing some really cool race/training tips. 👍🏼
best pro bike video ever
Amazing! Perfect video, had everything! Thank you Mr Butterfield 😁
Man! So much insight! Thank you for doing this.
Awesome! King of mods!!! 😁
I really like having the athletes talk about their bikes. Do you think that pro triathletes know more about their bikes than pro cyclist do?
Good question! We reckon Tyler knows more than most.
I would guess most have to. Not a lot will have a team of mechanics to take care of things.
Luuuuvv this format, so much more interesting to get the take of the bike's owner. GCN could perhaps learn from you on this one! great video keep em coming.
Very cool! Love the ceramics
Wow. That rear wheel span forever with a small spin on the crank. Those have to be some awesome Ceramicspeed wheel bearings in the rear hub. Kudos.
Fantastic video, such detailed explanation of everything.
Such a delightful bloke!
Great vidéo! Thank for sharing all these details
Keep it going like that GTN! All love talks about bikes )
Great interview!
Can we get the weight in kg as well please? Maybe you can do a graphic with both lbs and kg.
7.95 kg
1kg = 2.2lbs, so this bike at 17.5lbs is 7.95kg
It's pretty ironic that even the weight icon has "kg" on it, but then the figure is in lbs.
7.95 kg is super light for a tri bike!
J S that's awesome for a tt. +1.5 for bottles when theyre full, still come under mine dry!! 😭
Free hub sound should be a segment on every pro bike!
I also use double hydration between the tt bars - it's fantastic! Believe Rinny was the first pro to adopt it (Kona 2015?) - I saw it and was like, damn it's ingenious!
King of custom!
how far can you go with aerohacks in triathlon? maybe belly waterpack?
Do you think that would catch on? 🤔
Enjoyed the video. I do wish he had been a bit more methodical in his overview (jumped a bit all over the place). But, I still liked the video a lot! Thanks for the content!
great vid! Thanks to him!
Very insightfull - would enjoy to know more about the pro's trianing.
Awesome video!!
now i understand ceramic speed he was astonishing
Awesome guy!
This is a legit bike
dude is giving it some thought. wicked :-)
Very personalized bike. May look bodgie to some with the tapes, but everything has a purpose.
I love to see comparison rider stats (weight hight) to bike stats
I actually also have a custom brake cover just like that on my bike but even lighter
Awesome. Can we have this guy again before Kona ?
Excellent.
Amazing vid
Proper geek, love it :)
I liked this one
Great job
Thanks Michael!
At 1:35 you see an epic #GCNhack, along with a few others. Actually a bodge. This athlete is a serious weight maniac.
What size is that bike please
I thought fairings were not allowed ?! Can somebody explain me why the front brake tape is allowed ?
can some one link the highriser steam and bars i cant seam find them.
9 speed cassette?
I wonder how much it cost for the ceramic speed setup for the cranks to be moving like that. Anyone knows?
About $1000
SUPERB THX
why not FullObree Superman? forbidden?

Is gtn new?
Fairly new yes! We've been running for about 2 months.
Looks like the free wheel needs a little service. A common problem with Mavic. I stopped having mine serviced because it was worthless in 2 months. Pedal and it doesn't matter.
Oooorrrrrr I didn't watch enough of the video yet.
Who is this sponsor 'um' he keeps talking about? ;)
Get that man a lawn chair to sit in.
"as a bigger guy your heart rate is lower".....
I do sprint tris; I wish I understood half of what he was talking about :-)
Can someone tell me why his cranks move when his bike moves forwards? Right near the beginning of the video there is a clip
Radio Station watch the whole video, you'll find your answer.
Radio Station The friction of the freewheel is greater than the friction on the chain, jockey wheels and the bottom bracket combined.
8:50 Freehub resistance > drivetrain resistance
Lucas Weitzendorf which is insane if you think about it, great interview!
Thanks guys. I guess I'm eager
Surprised he hasn't got a drink tube going up from his bottles. Not hard to do and it's save him having to sit up to drink.
Ian Nick Tarry he probably didn't want that extra gram of weight
Really if the pros explain it
Umas gambiarras ali e acola e pronto.
Cant deal with the tape over the front brake.
