- Wednesday, May 29, 2002. Game 5 of the 2002 Eastern Conference Finals between the New Jersey Nets & the Boston Celtics at Continental Airlines Arena. After the Celtics had trimmed a 20-point deficit to just 1 (& even wasted a couple of opportunities to take their 1st lead since Paul Pierce scored the 1st points of the night from the free throw line), the Nets explode for a 20-1 burst to blow the game wide open once again & for good this time. '"I didn't think you can have a 20-1 run in the playoffs", Nets head coach Byron Scott said, adding how they got it done: "We got back to being aggressive, getting them one shot and then rebounding. I just wanted us to fly up and down the floor and get them in transition game, and we got some easy buckets and that got us rolling."
Points:
- New Jersey: Jason Kidd (6), Keith Van Horn (9), Jason Collins (2), Lucious Harris (2), & Richard Jefferson (1).
- Boston: Tony Battie (1).

KVH did an amazing season 2002, he was understimated...The Nets needed Power in the paint, and they had to develop Jefferson.. But i think the Nets should kept KVH and Tod Mcculloch, instead of taking Mutombo.
Even after KVH was publicly ousted by Kmart and kidd?
@@iloveap83 Yes they should talked in intern, to resolv this problem.
Bring back the New Jersey Nets !
I have no idea who Vanhorn is but he balled out this game🔥🔥💯💯
Mannnn that shows how old I am ik exactly who Keith Van Horn is my guy was a good ass role player for that team. Def a good ass shooter.
Kyrie was there!!
Oh snap thats interesting. Never knew that!
15 year old me was bummed out for 2 days after this
That arena sucked but man it was loud as hell during this team's 2 year run
PUTS IT INNN
Love this!!
Its gonna happen again and We gonna win the CHAMPIONSHIP!
Boston trading Joe Johnson to Phoenix for Rodney Rogers and Tony Delk still makes me so sad :(
Rodney is paralyzed
@@mistahj218 yes, he had a very unfortunate dirt bike accident about 10-15 years ago
The worst part is Phoenix wanted Kedrick Brown. Chris Wallace counter offered Johnson. Celtics could have had Johnson, Pierce & Walker not only this year but the following one as well.
Oakland
Man these acute play designs by coach Scott is suuuuper savy to say the least…..the pin downs and well timed cuts…..chiefs kiss 🤌, more importantly s/o to the players for execution
Houston Rockets 90 @ New Jersey Nets 99 (01-19-2001) Van Horn 22 Points
