I have that helmet. It gets the job done. For the money it's a good value.

The semi chisel speed cut is really nice especially when working with brush and small diameter wood. It isn't as "grabby" as a full chisel 3/8. Another reason why "more" is not always better.

Love me a Husqy White Top - they have that distinctive clutch drum jingle at idle 👍👍

I use cedar oil spray for ticks and works great and totally natural and nontoxic to humans and animals

I treat my clothing with Sawyers (permethrin) for ticks and the deep woods sprays for other pests and second line of defense for ticks. I absolutely HATE ticks.

Cheap files are far worse than lesser expensive chains. That county line kit is pretty much available in all sorts of other no name labels on Amazon. Have a couple of them and they really are not something I would buy.

About the only thing I like about no name after market file kit's are the file handle's in some of them and only when someone gives me one of these kit's because their throwing it away after they found out that it's junk. When it comes to file's stick to the big name or OEM maker's. As far as forestry helmet's I to played around with different cheap stuff over the year's only to end up hating the stuff so much that I ended up not wearing it like I should have, biggest thing I tell people now is just invest the extra money on a really good helmet system it is so worth it. I did this spring wow what a difference night and day, be carful using non rated PPE it can give you a false sense of protection. Glad to see your getting to do the thing's your enjoying, many of us never get that chance in life; take care and have fun Walt.

I've been using Pferd files. Price is decent and they seem to do a nice job.

I've used them with good results in the past, but they didn't hold up :( The "hinged" end would fail after a few uses in the field.

Walt is there any chance you know where to find a guide plate for a 42 special? It the last thing I need to finish the build. I feel at this point I’m going to have to find one close and modify it myself. Thanks. Looked like another great day in the woods.
