Hey Guys, been watching your videos for a couple of years now. Love them. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Spent many (almost 20 years building homes) years in the trades. I'm going do to major remodeling on our house. Was going to do quartz countertops in the kitchen but now seriously considering your products for that and showers. My main concern is durability specifically regarding countertops. I would like to see you do a video of you basically torture testing countertops. While they look amazing I would like to see some durability testing. I think that would give everyone a better sense of the reality of using epoxy. Thanks and hope to see something along these lines. This was one of the most impressive uses of your epoxy that I've seen. I have a small shower in a house that had been a rental for 15 years. I love the look of this.
Not so sure I'd put this in a rental home....a lot of renter don't take care of your property.....I did NOT SAY ALL RENTERS, I said a lot of them.....have lived in them and I know.....I've had to go in and clean from top to bottom in them.....and when I left , I left it spotless and in better shape than I found it in.....!!!
It looks AMAZING but how resistant is it to damage if someone knees, elbows or bumps a shampoo onto it? how does it hold against water and condensation damage?
Its hard as a rock. If u take a hammer to it, you will put a hole in it. 90% of commercial buildings now a days use foam board, covered with stucco finish, hard outside, hollow board
The only way water is going to pass through the epoxy, is if the epoxy gets damaged and breaks. Keep a good silicone seal around the edges, and in the corners, check and make repairs to that caulk, as needed, every few months, and this will last a very long time. If strength of the panels is of any concern for you, use MDF instead of the foam insulation panels.
What it's not just regular foam? Like installation foam or water proof or something that doesn't absorb moisture or expand to intense heat 😬 I I don't know what I'm talking about
Isnt it so much fun to do things for our parents? Mine our in there 90's but would love to do a sweet project fir them. Mike you are still the real deal!! Truly nuce gentleman!! And so talented!
How long will this last? I can’t imagine foam being waterproof, just resistant for a little while. Lmk because if it lasts for a long time I’ll be getting this done. 🔥
the epoxy and silcone are waterproof so the foam itself shouldn't be getting wet at all... I'd assume it would last for some time provided it's not abused and the proper cleaners used
As long as you have a good silicone seal around the edges, and in the corners, check and make repairs to that caulk, as needed, every few months, this will last a very long time.
But how does it hold up to mold? I live in a subtropical climate, and even with a (overkill) exhaust fan stronger than necessary, there will still grow mold. Mold spores are naturally occurring in the air here, and in the rainy season, its the worst.
AMAZED! I flip houses and most of them date around 40+ years old. They also have windows in the worst possible locations. The tub & shower.... Other than tile from a big box loser that never offers matching corner tile, there are NO products for remodeling that allow for window cut-outs without going through the nose in price. This idea, is an answer to old bathrooms. The foam is going to be rigid enough where I can even punch holes around the old shower walls to inspect leaks and then cover with panels and no worries! I'm subscribed and surprised at your competitive pricing on all epoxy products.
Could you address the durability and strength? Foam has definite advantages over mdf board for water proofing purposes but I wouldn’t want to slip and have my shoulder dent it. Does that mesh plus the epoxy make it hardy? Also could you use that pvc board as the main structure? Does epoxy adhere to pvc ??
would you really dent it through the epoxy? I would think the epoxy would harden it enough to keep its shape. he actually punches the wall at the end to show its strength some.
I assume PVC would be pretty similar to a preexisting countertop pour; since it's a non-porous material, you would want to scratch with up by sanding it to make a good mechanical bond. Definitely try it on a test piece before committing to a huge project, that way you can test both the adhesion and the methodology.
Phone has been a common backer on those thin. Cheap little vinyl shower unit for a long time. And they do nothing but contact glue it to the back of the final panel. They don't seal it or nothing like that. Guarantee you unless you're beaten the Damn thing with a hammer
We of course he just slapped it. Is he supposed to punch it a break he hand? But I'd have to say even if he did the people the have nothing but Ignore remarks and underhand comments about It's deribility. Probably still would be too hard for them to comprehend how strong it is
Looks like a dream come true for building a light weight shower in a RV build! I wounded how much weight this actually added to the foam boards. Percentage wise.
I had the same concerns in my travel trailer. It added 20 lbs for a 36x24x82. I used Dow R3 .55 inch foam. To estimate my, 1st coat of epoxy with thickener and second coat with two glitters weighed 9.3 lbs. The Ultimate Top Coat was .4 lbs. I used every drop of two gallons for 48 square feet.
Just something to share, when applying your 100% silicone, spray it with some 409 or similar before cleaning your bead line. You will get a cleaner, easier bead with less mess on your finger.
@@StoneCoatCountertops Do you need to waterproof if you are installing this over sound and solid tile? I was thinking of using waterproofing membrane tape in the corners only.
The colors are great would like to know if this same process can done over cement walls and floor? Do I need to apply like a RED GAURD? Will the temperature and/or humidity affect in any way?
@@joeturczak5656 I don't think you understood the question all the walls and floor are made out of CEMENT this is an apartment in PUERTO RICO there is NO insulation barrier such as foam or other material, a 98% of the house built here are of cement and concrete NOT LIKE in the main LAND (UNITED STATES) that are built in wood at least most of them I would say a 99% built in the U.S. are made out of wood except for those houses that have a cement or concrete basement or floor, what I do need to now is : 1. Do I need to apply a RED GAURD or something like it ? 2. Will the temperature and/or the humidity be a factor ? 3. Can you use glue (silicone or something that is similar to it) ?

Big fan of the show.. I love your family dynamic.. Extremely digestible friendly and informative. Being a fan and knowing viewer base is a extremely important driving force to your business so may be sharing a content thought won't be over stepping my bounds..so here's my two cents to gain even more viewer engagement. Perhaps a budget project each month.. A simple set of ideas from the viewer and each month one budget project gets complete..with perhaps a end of the year give away on the budget product you guys do on the object you make with the highest vote... Just my thoughts and I think it would be neat.. Everything you guys touch turns to art
@@StoneCoatCountertops ok so a example idea that could be picked out of a hat..id say say set the budget for all ideas at 40 and under..i get you run a business lol and that could get costly quick so the cheaper the better..pluse it will encourage people to start small by witnessing you do a monthly challenge.. From what I've seen your product speaks for its self..so let's say you choose this idea for a month..to purchases a older damaged wooden child desk..spend 40 or less on the purchase and do what you do best.. People see small projects and see how amazing they come out might build a interest and try it out..then the wonderfully addiction of your art will take place.. I'm sure that's still a heck of a expense but it gives us a reasonable chance to see you do things that we could..figure that's 12 pieces in a year..one piece given to the highest voted end result project and leaves 11 pieces for donation of some sort..good way to help out a cause.. Just my two cents
I just watched this (I’ve seen other projects before, and people spend so much money on those one day bathroom transformations, and end up with a plastic-looking bathroom for at least 5 times the amount of money for something that doesn’t at all compare to the results of your epoxy, and it’s just too bad because it’s and such a versatile product! I wanted to mention a couple of things that might be of interest as an option to the final product, especially to those who have to create a brand new shower/ bath to shower conversion. I had a very old colonial house about 20 years ago and the house had only one full bathroom on the first floor that desperately needed a complete remodel, but more importantly, it needed a bathroom on the second floor period, it had all of the bedrooms and zero bathrooms. I was convinced we had enough room to put a couple of closets together, and it is too bad we didn’t have this product back then! We absolutely did have a solution, and that solution was to use shower doors that slide side to side instead of opening the door in the traditional open-motion way, which would have most definitely prevented us from having a shower altogether, and we definitely didn’t want a Mickey-mouse shower looking corner thing. Even though we used traditional tile, the solution would be viable for any material used! Our other “easy” solution was to use tile all the way throughout instead of just up to a certain height/etc. , including the ceiling. We used light-colored neutral marble tile that was very inexpensive, and nobody was doing this. The final bathroom looked absolutely incredible, and we didn’t have to deal with any paint. The entire bathroom used the same tile, no special backsplashes, just uniform (it had some light grey marbling- and of course if you’re creating your custom panels, you have so much more versatility with making it look the way you want to, but I just wanted to add that KISS works with designs, too- looking back on it, it would have been gaudy looking if we tried to complicate a very simple design with all these lines breaking up a streamlined look. I stopped by the house around 10 years ago and talked to the new family who bought the house from us, and they said the bathroom was the reason they bought the house in the first place. We bought and sold that house for less than $300k in the early 2000s, and it’s worth $650k now. And now I’m watching your beautiful craft and thinking how many homes you are helping to build their value! Thank you for your talent, craft, and dedication!
The things you all create are amazing. To look at the finished product it would be difficult for anyone to believe it was so easy to produce. Beautiful work

Thank you so much I'm a widow and my husband was a contractor and with a fixes income and home needs remodeling this will definitely help with cost. God continue to bless you and yours . Much love . I want to diy my floors but with 3200 square feet I would have to take a loan out for professionals.
My hydroponics closet needed a water proofing solution after a leak we got the other night, this was definitely what I was looking for!
Great idea!
Hello guys i watched every minute of the video from the moms river table to the shower walls window frame n the stones used for floor in bathroom n it was AMAZING guys all of it n to see your moms tears come through because her great sons n all who helped out n mark learning the ropes n did a great job too , I was very impressed so thumbs up to you all . mom you got a great family . Happy New Years !!!!!!!!!! HOURS OF AMAZING CONTENT . THANKYOU N HAPPY POURING /RESIN !!!!!
I don’t know where you’re getting these creative ideas, but keep them coming. Sand and epoxy...that’s ingenious!
It looks AMAZING but how resistant is it to damage if someone knees, elbows or bumps a shampoo onto it? how does it hold against water and condensation damage?
Yes. I would like to know the long term durability. Looks great. Love the idea of the lightweight
Its hard as a rock. If u take a hammer to it, you will put a hole in it. 90% of commercial buildings now a days use foam board, covered with stucco finish, hard outside, hollow board
not even 30 seconds in and ENTHRALLED. LOVE it!!!!!
I'd be curious to see how this holds up. The foam in the shower (although protected) is just throwing me for a loop.
Same
What it's not just regular foam? Like installation foam or water proof or something that doesn't absorb moisture or expand to intense heat 😬 I I don't know what I'm talking about
@@PaganWizard I was thinking the same thing use MDF instead of foam board
I also wanna see an update. I know this isn’t the type of channel to half ass things so I wanna know how it held up
Isnt it so much fun to do things for our parents? Mine our in there 90's but would love to do a sweet project fir them. Mike you are still the real deal!! Truly nuce gentleman!! And so talented!
Thank you so much, this comment makes me smile!
How long will this last? I can’t imagine foam being waterproof, just resistant for a little while. Lmk because if it lasts for a long time I’ll be getting this done. 🔥
the epoxy and silcone are waterproof so the foam itself shouldn't be getting wet at all... I'd assume it would last for some time provided it's not abused and the proper cleaners used
What is the appropriate cleaners to use?
@@harrietpearson816 I cant see any domestic cleaners being a problem. Obviously one would stay away from acid
foam, fiberglass and epoxy is how they make boats. The old MDF shower panel idea was a little less trustworthy.
Man..You are an artist and inventor. I love the way you do magic with epoxy. Respect 🙋♂️🌹
It's so lightweight Id like to see 360 take it all the way to the top & Ceiling!👍🏿👍🏾👍🏽👍🏼
good stuff. Been a contractor most of my life. Making the forms for the tile trim and making the pebble floor was genius.
Question: how does it do long term? Water and condensation is a concern I think of immediately
As long as you have a good silicone seal around the edges, and in the corners, check and make repairs to that caulk, as needed, every few months, this will last a very long time.
The epoxy resin is water proof. The foam is water proof, and the silicone is water proof. It should last a realllllllllly long time lol
@@paulinadeluca9117 doubtful
MAN I COULD THIS DUDE DO THIS ALL DAY AND NOT GET BORED.....
AWESOME JUST AWESOME😍
This is so cool. Could you give us an update of what the epoxy walls look after a year? :)
It seems to me that it would crack over time with a non solid base.
@@kolesplace you are worng
@@kolesplace these are build just like a. surf board, they are very tough.
I'm guessing the boards behind would absorb moisture and swell if there is no joint sealing after install. They didn't show the installation though
@@kolesplace lmfao, you don’t even work in the industry. Keep quiet.
I love the complete blue shower with the window in it. Very unique who would ever thought I love it Good job
Looks great, but since it is foam back what happens if someone knees the wall. How resistant to damage is it ?
I wonder that and how does it hold up to mold?
@@huna78 mold needs something to grow on, like wood or paper. If you have a mold problem with this set up, get an exhaust fan, should have one anyway.
But how does it hold up to mold? I live in a subtropical climate, and even with a (overkill) exhaust fan stronger than necessary, there will still grow mold. Mold spores are naturally occurring in the air here, and in the rainy season, its the worst.
I want to know too. Living a household with 4 young, rough and tumble males, they are brutal with everything.
If your edges 100% you shouldn't have a mold problem
@@JJstram84 he slapped it nice and gently.. didn’t punch it.
Not too much
.
Absolutely genius. Thank you for sharing this with the world!
What did you treat the wall under the foam with? This is a great idea!
Red Gard waterproofing membrane, a roll on product
Ardex waterproof system
@@StoneCoatCountertops Do you need to waterproof if you are installing this over sound and solid tile? I was thinking of using waterproofing membrane tape in the corners only.
Now that was totally awesome not only the work of how it came out but what you did for your parents 👍.👏👏👍
The colors are great would like to know if this same process can done over cement walls and floor?
Do I need to apply like a RED GAURD?
Will the temperature and/or humidity affect in any way?
I don't believe RedGuard is needed because the foam is a water barrier, especially if you use the XPS insulation.
@@joeturczak5656 I don't think you understood the question all the walls and floor are made out of CEMENT this is an apartment in PUERTO RICO there is NO insulation barrier such as foam or other material, a 98% of the house built here are of cement and concrete NOT LIKE in the main LAND (UNITED STATES) that are built in wood at least most of them I would say a 99% built in the U.S. are made out of wood except for those houses that have a cement or concrete basement or floor, what I do need to now is :
1. Do I need to apply a RED GAURD or something like it ?
2. Will the temperature and/or the humidity be a factor ?
3. Can you use glue (silicone or something that is similar to it) ?
@@georgebenitez2381 you realize this video is applied to drywall, right?

This is awesome.. you make it seems so simple . But it's absolutely ur art.. great job as always 👏 👍
Epoxy is more expensive than I thought. Was gonna do my floors but found out vinyl flooring is a cheaper route.
Cheaper but again it breaks faster lol
I bought on ebay.

Can u bring them in white marble style and install in my bathroom ceiling and all 3 walls please?? Lol

This looks so amazing! I used to install tile and I hope the tile installers are paying attention and start trying this. Hopefully this will be the choice of today and the future so we don't have to look at grout joints anymore.
This really amazing, never expecting the shower wall base is foam board, good work bro

Awesome! Thank you Jose! -Nathan
My art is in the same style.... random, free style, colors merging and diverging, and been in love with epoxy for the longest time. Never been trained in it. So I'm loving your videos. Thanks. I plan to give it a shot in my new home. I plan to create a collection of artworks using epoxy.
I am beyond impressed with this shower!
We are going to remodel all 3 bathrooms & plan on starting one in the fall. I would like to do the same effect that you did in black & white, but using brown, white, & copper.
The river rock flooring is amazing! My brother-in-law owns his own home construction company & his house is stunning. He has a river rock shower floor & advised us against doing it due to its level of difficulty, huge mess, and time it takes. With your products, however, I know it will look so incredible whilst being easier on the knees & back, too.
I already love every video you put out...this one especially rocks! (Pun intended)

@@StoneCoatCountertops I love your channel so much! You provide information and encouragement to create beautiful spaces affordably. Thanks so much!
Please give me an example of a budget project? I like where this is going
