Alik'r Guard: "You see those warriors from Skyrim? They've got straight swords. Straight. Swords."
Short swords though not like our great swords
@@Angelo-nd4lg hey not all have great swords, though I've never met one with a shortsword so...
This better be in the game
@@patronofdebaucheryandviolence I've found that those without great swords tend to have "meh" swords.😋
@@goldenknight578 swords are all about balance and skill. Broadswords and LongSwords are all you need. Great Swords are not as precise and flexible-the bigger the sword also the more fatigue of muscle you experience.
I work nights 5 days a week, sometimes 6. Your guys' videos in the morning is a perfect way for me to chill out and do my chores before I have to pass back out and grind again. I always appreciate the effort you guys put in to make this content 👊🏻
While I short myself on sleep just so I can catch these. Worth it.
I know... A pizza I ordered arrived just in time as I saw the notification... even better, it's about my favourite race, the Redguards.
Quite literally the same story here, mate!
same here man
Bless you! Keep working hard but remember to also rest properly and relax, when you have the opportunity to do so. Have a lovely day!
You guys are the reason why ES lore is so deep, creative and beautiful to me. Even when I'm down I know I can hit up the podcast or even older videos to reimmerse.
Keep it up guys, we love your videos and each of all 3 of your efforts. :)
"Ra Gada. You all know that the elves are outside our walls. These infidels call us barbarians. They would drive us from this land, but what the elves do not know is that Ruptga himself guided us to these shores. He decreed that the Alik'r would be our home. Today the infidels will see the strength of the Shehai. Onsi will guide our blades. Today the sands will run red with elven blood!"
-King Xakhwan's speech at the Battle of Ash'abah Pass
Redguards r da dopest
@@Angelo-nd4lg Indeed
To be fair to the Elves... Redguards DID come in a genocidal warrior wave across all of Hammerfell, so... 😅
@@thalmoragent9344 stros m'kai save you elf
@The Brotha Moe
Well, the Bosmer took in the Nedes who were escaping Aylied Slavery/Torture, and gave them a place to stay in Valenwood.
The Snow Elves were also kind with the Nedes in Skyrim as well, they only had an issue with the Atmorans in Saarthal, for whatever reason which caused the Night of Tears.
I have monitored the sub count for the past week or so and if it rolls over before a new video is out, congrats on the 1 million subs guys!
Been watching since the old days of Skyrim builds and still I get excited with each new vid and podcast.
Edit: congrats guys! Totally deserve it!
Atmorans commits genocide against Snow Elves.
Ra Gada: Hold my beer.
Atmorans and Ra Gada would probably be besties tbh

Both are not fans of elves,😂
Redguards are one of my favorite races to play. Their history and culture is very fascinating. I hope we get to visit on ES6
If ES6 is set in Hammerfell and/or Highrock then I wonder how much of this lore will stay consistent. What will they retcon, expand, and create? Exciting things to consider
Hopefully sword singing is a power you can use

Wait, for real? 😳 All Man, Mer and Beast?
At least Gelebor might be safe from his Chantry, watching the spectacle with his HD, Auri-El edition TV.
@@thalmoragent9344 from what I gather and believe, final war would probably be another anuic vs padomaic forces so he might have to join in along with Auriel
@@kingclint2382
Ah, I see. Well, I hope he's careful, last of his kind and all. I'm rooting for Auriel, although though I know most Elder Scrolls fans are Padomaic so, seems Auriel fans like me are vastly outnumbered
We'll fight till the end, though
@@thalmoragent9344 it's just that not many elder scrolls games have explored Anuic side yet. Once we get some games from the other side things can change
The "moving at strange angles" aspect is loosely based on an idea in quantum mechanics that other dimensions are at "orthogonal angles" that we can't naturally see. So Talpapa is literally teaching them to walk on the thin line of dimensions
I would imagine it also takes inspiration from the Lovecraftian idea of non-euclidean geometry being associated with unfathomable beings, and "moving along strange angles/lines" which are hidden unless exposed to psychedelics or obscure realms of thought. I remember reading a Lovecraft inspired story years ago called "The Hounds of Tindalos" which used a similar idea.
@@jameswilkes451 👏 spitting truth
And here I was thinking it was because they worship a snake so they move like a sidewinder.
@@partydean17 I see you in my two year old comments
You see those warriors from Hammerfell? They’ve got curved swords… Curved. Swords.
Almost 1 million subs? Time flies lol good stuff guys!
Just noticed I wasn't subscribed, and I've been watching their videos for a long time. I am now.
I'd love to see an episode or discussion on Sotha Sil (specifically him, rather than the whole Tribunal). He's the closest to "good" as a member of the Tribunal is shown to be. His fatalism is so interesting and tragic. So many interesting questions, like if he was even mentally present when Almalexia killed him (as opposed to having already transferred his consciousness into the Clockwork City). Or if he simply allowed himself to be murdered by her because the alternative would lead to a worse future for the world.
Also, holy hell, 999k subs.
Something that wasn't brought up was so advanced Reguards are/were compared to the other races of men. Also, the concept of the Far Shores is way understated. And, that Shehai don't have to be in the form of a sword! I'll be so disappointed if ES6 isn't in Hammerfell (at least).
Actually you will be disappointed if ES6 is set in Hammerfell. They will butcher the lore.
glad to see someone as with a better understanfing of them and that the shehai is only a sword because thats what they wanted it to be imagine what they could do if they thought of using it to create a inner ability, magic, etc
It will never happen but I’d love racially exclusive animations for each race, especially for races like redguards and orcs who are supposed to be widely able with arms.
There be mods for that, for skyrim:)
@@mithileshseth4563 fighting out DAR atm actually :D
@@mithileshseth4563 for Midgard
I always felt like Redguards were elite DEX builds and Nords were elite STRENGTH builds. I hope ES6 allows agility/dexterity melee builds to differentiate swordsman/professionals from barbarian builds
they are both
I reckon strength has to go to the Orcs
They had that on every game before Skyrim
Orcs are a CON build
Redguards My favorite race and in my opinion the BEST race, they are definitely underrated but are one of the top most naturally talented warriors groups
Redguard and dunmer didn't leave any cool for everyone else
I imagine that Sword Singing had always involved chanting or some such. In all of the Elder Scrolls lore it shows that tonal magic are the most powerful. How the Dwemer could make their inventions, how powerful the Tongues of old were with their Thu'um, etc. If Sword Singing was only something as simple as conjure magic I don't think it would of gone away.
its a deep meditation understanding of oneself and sword and allowing it to be brought to life by thought, which is why the shehai cant be took or destroyed unless the users head is cut off ten it will vanish
It seems like a psionic power to me, less conjuration more manifestation
Actually conjugation is using incantation of some kind. Shehai is supposed to be totally different, while still magic it originates from the very being of the individual. Their imagination gives it shape. It's supposed to be more religious and meditation focused.
Yoku (Yokudan Language) has 48 different versions of the word "honor", which all trace their roots to Ugak-ta.
You guys have been such a great inspiration to me going back to 7th grade in 2014. Congrats on 1,000,000. Thanks for the great content for so long.
Imagine how powerful the Left-handed Elves were to take on the Sword-Singers at their peek.
Hammerfell would be screwed if they return through time like Alduin.
I really hope that's not the plot of Elder Scrolls VI, that'd be so freaking lazy. Skyrim reskinned.
@@ElectromagNick Agree. However, it would be interesting outside the main plot for the Thalmor to attempt bring the Redguards' old elvish enemy back. It would bring more lore to the classic elf vs human conflict.
@@badluck5647 lol some believe the lefr hand elves to be padomaic the high elves would be in for quite a surprise
@@Angelo-nd4lg That'd be hilarious, and it would balance nicely with the Yokudan beluefs being more Anuic. But if the the theory that they're both from another kalpa and circumvented the Dawn Era proves true, maybe there's a reason why the Redguard are Anuic, and it's possible the Sinistral Elves would, too. Regardless, it'd be interesting to see a new elvish pantheon unrelated to to the traditional Aldmeri beliefs.
We don't don't even know where the game takes place yet
ALMOST AT A MILLION!!! I've been subbed a long time and its been so awesome to watch you guys grow such a large following! its really well deserved, thank you so much for so many amazing videos!
Congratulations on 1M guys, I’ve been subscribed for as long as I can remember, and I need to commend you all on how high quality and unique of a channel you have. There’s not a single other UA-cam channel that goes as in depth with elder scrolls as consistently as you guys do.
(Really love your work Camel)
Elder scrolls is my favorite fictional universe, and your intricate videos of obscure topics and extended lore that most people don’t have the time to look into for themselves are masterclass, seriously. Your videos and channel in general mean so much to me. Your podcast helped me a lot mentally with 2020. Between your imaginative video ideas, elder scrolls podcasts, build videos and everything else, 1 Million should’ve come much, much, much, much sooner. Job well done, you guys more than rightfully deserve it! 🍾🥂🎉
Here’s to the next million and more!!! 🍻🎊
The bound sword bit reminded me that I have an ongoing joke, if I ever use a bound weapon it gets a name
Always the first name I think of.
The first time I did it was with a bound bow if I remember correctly.
I whispered
Was getting ready to drop a bandit a good ways out and decides to use my new tangled sparkly magic bow.
“I could use a little help from Steve”
Bound bow is now Steve for that playthrough
This is how it must be.
Congrats on 1 million, you guys make brilliant content and it's good to see you're all getting the recognition you deserve
My favorite thing about Atlantis;
Plato wrote about it in a work of fiction which he himself even said was made up as allegory for corruption and arrogance in the Greek political climate at the time, but every one just kinda assumed it was a fact and now we have a bunch of idiots arguing about the "real" location of a place that is entirely fictional.
It's about the freedom loving and heroic Athenians fighting against the advanced but evil empire. It's just ancient Star Wars.
Like heaven

High rates of S** crimes, violence, Mass shootings, human trafficking seems like something nords, imperials and Bretons would do.
Because of their skin tone yes?
It’s also funny,
Considering nords are also Scandinavian
Viking people who are infamous through history for their constant raiding looting and grape of English settlers,
They were also Incredibly Violent.
Imperials are Romans, Roman’s were known for their odd relationship with the youth specifically boys.
Bretons are Englishmen….you do know what’s happening in England right now right?
They are incredibly violent and going around punching on innocent folk and burning down buildings…isn’t that interesting?
Jan 6 also a very interesting case?
Or maybe the 1000 wars they started?
The homelands they stolen?
The G side, the violence throughout history…you think these people aren’t violent?
Lol
One thing they all have in common tho is their skin complexion…how funny is that?

Always a pleasure to wake up on Monday morning to another Elder Scrolls podcast and sharing the lore with my little human! By the time it's born, it'll probably think you lads are uncles or something!
Ooh. Best Sunday morning gift!
I look forward to these every week! Keep it up, boys!
Y’all hit 1 million subs! Congratulations! Y’all deserve it greatly! #1 Elder Scrolls content creators!
I see the "sword singing" similar to what happens in the Bleach anime when someone unleashes their bankai.
Old man Yama says, "All things in the world turn to ash, Ryu-Jin Jakka!"
You could see this as 4 lines of magic words that you sing, (singing comes from the soul), to unleash the Shehai.
Shehai/Shikai? Sword singing/zanpakuto? Coincidence? I think not!
Except some1 did that "ryu jin jakka" in eso n sunk yakuda in result 😂😂😂😂
I almost pictured the idea of sword singing in this way. Sense it is something achieved through meditative exercise, it's like they were almost doing yoga but with the sword stances and moves. They got so skilled and precise in their movements and they know how that sword is going to move so precisely that they can picture what their sword is going to do in their minds eye. To the point that they don't even need to draw a sword they are so focused that a sword just appears for them. The actual singing in eso by comparison just seems kind of silly but I get it with the whole tonal thing like the dwemer
Yokuda Lite: All the Yoku taste, only 1 Yoku calorie.
I always got the feeling Michael Kirkbride's second favorite culture and lore to the Dunmer was the Redguards. Everything about their mindset and faith is familiar but alien. I imagine Elder Scrolls VI will have something to do with the HoonDing and Shehai possbily as a mechanic like the Thu'um.
woohoo 1million congrats and love from scotland.

Could you explain the Celestials? I'm confused by how they fit into the lore (aedra/daedra etc) and their connection to redguards

Because in a desert, the God of Winds decides when, where, and how hard a sandstorm hits.

Redguards are my favorite human race in TES, I do think Hammerfell(which I feel is all but confirmed from the trailer) is a good province, but I can't help myself from being disappointed if High Rock isn't included in so far as the whole Iliac Bay region is so culturally significant to Tamriel I feel like it would be a lost opportunity to only include its southern shores.
definitely a top favorite human race

I would love a podcast talking about the sinister elves. They are some of my favorite unseen races in all of the elder scrolls
999K subs, damn guys congratulations.
Regarding the Japanese elements.
Would it be far fetched to assume that akavir and yokuda are one and the same? Or that yokuda is a large island off of mainland akavir (like summerset is yo tamriel)
yokuda could technically be close to akavir since Nirn is spherical (presumably lol)
but wouldn't make sense even in the obscure elder scrolls sense, if they were one and the same.
A lot of this stuff they say is Japanese also exists in African warrior cultures. And this dudes Michael reductive view of The Book of Five Rings is fucking ridiculous. 😂

Finally hit a million you deserve it
Dibella being Nordic in origin makes sense to me. A warrior race where women can also be warriors needs boundaries in the code to function properly. With that being their societies driving force and PoV of the world, separation of lust and love religiously and eventually everywhere else seems like a natural progression. Obviously there's more nuance to their culture I'm missing here but on a "we have to make a timeline throughout centuries for this race, lets establish their basis and extrapolate future events and societal changed from there" wavelength of thinking it ends up being believable
I think the fertility goddess Morwa reminds me a little bit of Mephala having four arms kinda represents a spider ?
A Mephala + Mara hybrid sounds terrifying
@@vivecthepoet36 Grabbing husband's to consume them in her Webb's of love
I was thinking the same but mehrunes dagon instead because of the arms but mephala also makes sense maybe all three with morwa being a god of fertility taking love obviously from mara - sexual pleasure, ambition and exuberance from mephala- anarchist methodology and philosophy from mehrunes dagon which is interesting but fitting if you consider loving, finding and making, as a force or energy beyond control or submission

This extends to concepts in their version of the pantheon.
27:46 Their version of the creation myth in some ways resembles the story of Kweku Ananse (or rather some versions of it)

41:36 At certain periods of time in ancient Egypt. If you didn’t have a fully complete body when you were getting prepared for the afterlife you wouldn’t be let in. (So I wonder if the red guard superstition is based on this)
42:49 If I’m not mistaken the redguard language When written is intentionally made to look like a song script. (In the artwork for elder scrolls: Redguard Cyrus has some red guard script tattooed onto his arm)
