In terms of design the Nautilus is the most beautiful ship in the game and I want it. The only thing that stops me is that there is nothing known about what sort of npc generated missions we can do with this. I am more interested in playing PvE and I hope that we get actual missions for laying and clearing minefields.

I had no idea you would use StarJumps clips. I got permission from him to do revised version of his work. So I converted it into a 35 mm film with added visual and sound effects to enhance it.
You can see the work on my erebusumphalos. It adds another lvl of atmospheric effects.
Having said that, thank you so much for making this. I enjoyed the detail and the conversation on the Naughty Nautilus. I can not wait to get it my hands.

Given the age of the Naut, and the fact that it was used against the Vanduul, I think the chances of the Naut being in Sq42 is high. If that's the case, yeah: we could see it sooner than later. The fact that prox mines are currently on the deliverables list and wrapping this month, and space mines are expected to wrap next July...something's in the works, I would think.

None of these sub capital ships are available sadly. The Nautilus, Perseus, and Pegasus are all on my radar but because they're limited we never know when they'll be available or how many years it'll be before they're flight ready. I'm hoping to see them in the invictus sale but at the very least I'm upgrading one of my ships to a Carrack for now because it's a great ship to have.

Good discussion video for the Nautilus. :)
3rd size 3 turret (You said is represented differently in brochure) is a missile turret with 24X size 3 Missiles, tucked in the rear on the bottom.
Nautilus is much flatter than the Carrack, it only really has 2 decks, cargo/utility deck and a fairly large Main deck. Top (3rd) deck of the Nautilus is like mezzanine for the second and has less on it than the Carrack which has about 3.5 solid decks.

The sentry mines sounds very interesting. Especially if you can throw out 4-5 of them in an area then go back and get more. So you'll be able to lock down an area where you can keep your fleet and can be protected even when not a lot of people are active. Ideally you'll be located in a spot far out that would be incredibly hard to find but in case someone does, it'll take more than a group of dudes in a few small mid size ships to break through.

Nope, I don’t see any value in blowing dev time on this until we have dynamic server meshing and ~95% server uptime. There is just no use case for this ship in its intended role until orgs have (vulnerable) assets that might necessitate area denial.
Here’s hoping they dedicate dev time to smaller (scaleable) civil/industrial/criminal gameplay loops instead.

@@LawlessBaron It is what it is if that’s the case, but I don’t really see laser trip mines translating to 5km range S5 torpedos with extra steps. Seems more to me like they’re just trying to make FPS gameplay more dynamic, or trip mines are just a positive externality of SQ-42 development. Not saying I hate the ship or don’t want to see it in game, but as things stand with current max server pops, I just don’t see much of a place for in the meta. If we’re able to bring max server pop even up to 100 players it might be a decent support ship for large fleet ops, but even then its used will be limited until there are stationary assets that need defense.
There is griefing potential too, but the threat of mines around a major port are largely trivialized by server hopping.
Overall…. Meh. Just seems like a waste of dev resources until some tech hurdles are overcome.

Guys, just work for it in-game.
We don't know what this thing's mechanics will even truly be like yet, and by the time we do, it's gonna be like another $100 more expensive. Don't feel that FOMO. Save some actual in-game gameplay of earning ships in game, especially ones with gameplay as foreign, and unproven as the Nautilus. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion. That just happens to be... wait for it... "mine".

Lol. There are people who WILL do that and there are people who do not WANT to have to grind for some of these ships and would like information that helps them to make an educated decision in what to spend their money on. We don't discriminate between the 2. I would say you are 100% right that there should be some motivation to "work" for things in the game. However, it is going to be FAR easier to grind down than up. I will use my larger ships to acquire the smaller ships I want in a LOT less time than it is going to take to earn larger ships using smaller ships. I also have the means to save myself some of that time sink. There are plenty of people out there that don't have the time to dedicate to a long drawn out period of time grinding away and have the means to shorten that time period considerably. No matter where you sit in that spectrum that choice is going to be up to the individual. Just because someone disagrees with something doesn't change that reality for others. We appreciate your opinion and your involvement but we are hopefully making content for EVERYBODY here.

We present what we know, speculate to what degree we feel comfortable doing so, give the current pricing, and LET PEOPLE KNOW THAT THE PRICES WILL MOST LIKELY GO UP. CIG is in the sales business, we are in the information BUSINESS. It would be pretty shortsighted to put everything else in and not say oh hey by the way the pricing WILL most likely go up and IF you decide you want one of these ships you should probably get it before that happens or it WILL cost you more later....THAT is ALL we are trying to say...NOTHING more and NOTHING less. Quick point. Three large shields might no longer be equal to one capital class shield The current for system for shield values is a bit different. We can expect changes some changes to the new system but unless there are some truly massive shield changes to the current systems made the old system is completely defunct. Let me explain. It currently takes five S1 shields to equal one S2 shield, fourteen S2 shields to equal one S3 shield and six and half S3 shields to equal one S4 shield. Now these values might change or alter but the question becomes will they change that much? Lots of things are kind of up in the air with these changes for sure.

I wish some of these ships were much like the cutty with different versions. Like if this ships mine bay was stripped out and they threw in a upper and lower turret of a reasonable size and be a spot between the hammerhead and Polaris I would buy it. I'm just afraid much like the bomb mechanic, mines will have a very specific gameplay that won't see a whole lot of use. Newer and more effective tactics may be discovered and the niche ships will fall out of useage. I love every aspect of this ship except I want it to do something else lol. Same with the Apollo, strip it of medical and compete with a cutlass. It makes sense to have a single hull design to multiple roles, especially the biggest ones. Especially saves time with design, and also adds more options for backers.

Soooooo how long mines and drones stay online when dropped in space?
Infinite magic energy for drones and mines are mechanical?
From backer standpoint, Nautilus makes sense in defensive area of denial scenario.
Seeing ship stats makes me think CIG don't want defense ship but offensive support.
Bigger question is how much of a Christmas tree light will Nautilus lite space radars.

    • @spacegeezus591
      @spacegeezus591 2 роки тому +1

Here is the question and the quote from the Q and A done by CIG on the Nautilus..."How long is the lifespan of the different mine types and how long do they persist during logout? What happens if the parent ship is destroyed - can mines be retrieved afterwards in such occurrences?
Once deployed and in use, a mine’s components start to degrade, though their lifespan is dependent on the environment and how they are used. For example, regularly engaged weapons platforms will likely wear out and proximity mines will likely detonate before they degrade. If live but untriggered, we envisage a mine’s lifespan to be measured in days rather than minutes. Mine lifespan is not influenced by the state of the parent ship, be it destroyed or not. Deployed mines ‘remember’ the original deployment ship, so can be retrieved afterwards." Thanks for your participation!

@@spacegeezus591 thanks mate, I somewhat remember which goes in waters of my thoughts.
Ship can be used as defensif purpose but never area of denial to protect let say an org base. "Who did not switch mines and drones on Thursday ?" -George was missing for his turn so nothing happened until Sunday morning when A2 came to terraform -.
But in an engaged fleet in combat, 1 pass through & drop could subjectively in my opinion turn the tide of an org vs org.
As suggested in previous post, if the ship lit up radars like Christmas tree🎄 it might become excruciating to come for support.
One might say, keep Nautilus with main fleet but how long TTK 3 large shields by Perseus and/or Ares' remains a mystery 🤔
I do hope John Crewe and team take into consideration lengthier TTK per ship size tier and probable thicker armor vs trying to roll a large to capital size like it happened XT event whose Idris was super slow to small ships which I thought ok, yet way too fast to change direction to be believable just to comfort what I understood shield plate regeneration or queuing a QJ.
So my point is that the Nautilus is a great ship, yet so many variables that jumping into a must have or above the lot of ship is a bit early.
I have a Nautilus, but frankly I don't expect it to be so easy... especially as a org job for defending base, Nautilus might even end up a reason of org implosion / explosion.

My question is since everything is a turret, will the pilot have any control of forward guns? because ive yet to see any ship in SC not have forward guns controlled by the pilot. We the nautilus owners need to push for this ship. I see MINES are on the deliverable roadmap for september 2022. but thats now 3 and a half years later. we need to push for it like people pushed for the carrack or this ship will be forgotten. probably had poor sales too which is why low priority. As someone who has worked in commission sales when I was younger (cars and real estate) I KNOW the difference between a friendly recommendation and an "unfriendly sales tactic". We are not using ANY sales tactics as we do not earn a cent for any sales that result from our videos. We are not encouraging or discouraging anyone to buy anything here. We are simply making a hopefully informative video on the ships we feel are worthy of consideration for the capabilities we believe they have or MAY have in the game. IF you feel any pressure to purchase anything as a result of watching our videos that is certainly NOT our intent. However, we will ALWAYS recommend these ships when we feel they represent value in a certain type of gameplay to someone interested in that particular style of gameplay. You guys that have backed the game for some time need to realize that there are new players coming into the game that have NO IDEA that the prices of these ships WILL MOST LIKELY increase at some point in time in the future. We encourage people who are interested in buying these ships to do so at the earliest opportunity in order TO SAVE SOME MONEY! If you don't mind waiting and paying more I say fantastic for you, but we would be doing people a disservice if we don't mention that prices will MOST LIKELY go up. If you take that as any kind of sales "PRESSURE" then I would suggest that you watch these videos KNOWING that the prices will very likely increase over time and accept the fact that we feel OBLIGATED to remind people of that. If you rush out and buy the ships just because we say you should then I need to consider going back into the sales business and get rich quick. Maybe I have the Jedi mind trick ability and just don't know it? Imagine that...

I have stated before that I think it would be a disservice to NEW backers not to mention that the price of these ships WILL increase over time. We are not FORCING anyone to do anything...we are informing people. If you don't like the way we do that I am sorry but that IS the way we will continue to make these videos when we feel the price will rise. Which, let's face it, they ALL most likely will. The reason I am so adamant about it is because I myself had NO IDEA that the ship prices increase. I thought they were fixed...Imagine my dismay when I had to pay an extra $100 for my Merchantman. If only someone had told me I could have saved the money. EVERYBODY is NOT an educated backer. If you are that is GREAT! But let us EDUCATE the new players as well and try and save them a buck or 2 IF THEY WANT TO PAY CASH FOR THE SHIP...Thanks!

why not give a C2 or similar ships the same ability to discharge mines like bombs or through cargo doors. Also, are we getting specific mine clearing ships apart from the Nautilus or additional machinery as well, and are land mines also in the works and maybe sea mines once oceans are in. If CIG is going to cover try and cover the gamut of modern warfare machinery, you also need to consider the wide range of operating environment and counters to those weapons and tactics.

According to CIG 3 of any class component is the equivalent of 1 component of the next larger class. This may have changed or it may not have changed. I have NO idea of how accurate Erkul is these days due to all the changes that have taken place recently. I use Erkul and recommend it but I also caution people that at the moment, there are a LOT of questions as to how accurate it is. I would imagine that there are still changes to come but since the 3 to 1 metric has been in place for years I am quoting it and assuming that is the metric that CIG will continue to use until they themselves let us know that it has changed. Thanks for your observations though!

We also have no idea how CIG will model those differences in RADAR systems and how simplified those operations may or may not be. Capital RADAR implies that there will be some greater degree of effectiveness in that system over anything smaller. MANY things could account for the differences and until we actually see what those differences are we simply can not speculate on how ANY of these systems will ultimately work. We never said anything specific about anything unless we had evidence from CIG to do so. The simple take away should be that Capital RADARs WILL be more effective at least at something than anything smaller. I would imagine that we will find that a ship like the Tracker or the Terrapin will be more suited to certain types of operations than even a Capital Class sized ship. I would also imagine (as I actually mentioned in the video in case you missed it) that a Tracker or a Terrapin used in the hanger of the Polaris should be a VERY effective combination for a screening ship (which is EXACTLY how I see the Polaris) and would most likely be the perfect pairing with the Nautilus in an operational Fleet. The Polaris finds the minefields, the Nautilus disarms them. The Nautilus puts up a minefield and the Polaris patrols it...you get the idea. You could add other elements here as well but I suspect this would be at least fairly effective for the task...Thanks for your point of view!

That depends on if you are using them as an offensive or defensive weapon. Even though mines have been banned in most places, they are STILL used every single day in multiple places in the world we live in. There are MILLIONS of active mines still out there that kill and maim people every day and people STILL find mines dating back to World War 2 with a degree of regularity. With that said, I see this ship as an area of denial ship. You put up a mine field around an area of value or around a ship or fleet you are trying to protect. You are also using this ship to DISMANTLE the mine fields placed out there by others. While I agree with your moral and ethics view of the idea of mines, the reality is that CIG has decided to PUT THEM INTO THE GAME. As a result of that decision each player will have to consider them a constant threat in every single thing we do. Will they be prevalent in the middle of nowhere? Probably not. But I do expect to see lots of minefields in high traffic areas or being used as a deterrent and a weapon in high profit shipping zones and so forth. It is easy to just sit back and say they represent griefing, and there are people who will use them that way. But to just dismiss them as a tool of griefing does NOT change the fact that they WILL be in the game. Thanks for your point of view!

The real question is, will the mines be persistent in a persistent universe?
Will the mines have a time limited shelf life, will they disappear if the Aegis Nautilus Solstice is destroyed or logs off.
Will an EMP strike disable or destroy the mines, WHY do we need mines in an open sand box game when we have massive gunships to protect fleets and while a fleet can move off leaving a trail of mines in it's wake.
WHY should we have to buy and run an antimine ship just to travel freely from one system to the next, it's one thing for a griefer to be present while grieving, it's another for that said griefer to be light years away or have logged off hours, days or weeks ago.
