I enjoy your videos PIN. I will say that I actually think the Nautilus could be much closer than we think. Space mines are slated to be worked on from April to Sept of this year. And due to the leaked video showing the internals of the Nautilus that is out there... the ship looks close to being done already. That may be due to it being in SQ42. So Its very possible they could release the ship once Space Mines are done which would be end of year. Maybe.
OMG! I firmly believe this is one of the most underrated ship in the verse. And it is GORGEOUS. People think mines are too niche. They forget it has 2 freaking Ares taped to it's nose, 3 L shields and has a heavy armor. It's a battle turtle that can also lay mines.
@@PIN-o7 I have only one ship and have a CCU chain to the Polaris. That chain passes through the Nautilus for the express reason that I like so much this ship that I might stop at the Nautilus instead of applying every CCU till the Polaris. When it came out, it came out right off the bat with a heavy armor, and 3 large shields (one more L shield than the Polaris had at the time, even though we now know the polaris has a full Capital complement of components.) But especially the mine section of the video had some tidbits I didn’t know yet. I agree on your assessment. On the other hand I think the Nautilus will be moving around a lot without a fleet. I’m guessing it’s going to be stealthy. Dunno why, it’s just a feeling, paired with the name „Nautilus“. A submarine always was on the stealthy side. I hope you are right that the carrack will be able to use different drones, except the exploration ones mentioned in lore. I’d also like to point out you overlooked the word specifically „tailored“ to the Nautilus, when talking about the mine recovery drones. That makes me think only the Nautilus will have those, in order to be the most specialized and effective ship for finding, disarming and collecting mines. And yes, I’d like to have one. Just because I like the look of it and the potential game loops it will - hopefully - offer. I enjoy your ship videos. Keep ‚em coming. Cheers, cu
@@demonoid4927 thank you, i like that feeling you have about the stealth aspect. That would certainly make things interesting! A stealth mine ship...sounds cool.
Literally just slap on 32 size 1 missiles onto my MSR and pepper the mines with them, mines wont be equipped with shields and have no armor since their job is to blow up, not soak damage. So the only way these mines can be exploited is if you lock down a wormhole with them in an attempt at area denial, effective for less known wormholes that would only be patrolled by a single hammerhead, while the main battlegroup will remain at the primary jump point.
Definitely an intriguing ship. I think 24 mines are just a bit too low for a ship that size. Should be closer to 36 or 48 imo. I'd like to see emp mines that will disable a ship and make it vulnerable to boarding.
Get one, then offer to set up sentry mines around asteroid mining claims of other players, for a commission. On the flip side (Piracy), surround an asteroid mining group with mines, and hold them hostage. Once data gathering/running becomes a thing, will we have data gathering mines? Drop them in high traffic areas to spy/gather data.
A data gathering mine, or deployable AWACS/sensor platform is quite interesting. That would almost be more valuable for space control that exploding mines or sentry platforms because of the space control. Radar stations were key in the Battle of Britain in WWII and a small org could use sensor drones to gain situational awareness across a much wider area of space with this ship. Like you also said, it makes stealth gameplay much more important for combat and data gathering. It gives exploration ships another reason to exist if their sensors can pick up mines. The explosive and sentry guns would only be truly useful in station defense or in a very complex ambush scenario. This ship sounds like an excellent crowd control option for fleets.
i'm all about the base building and was looking into this ship for deterring hostiles by forcing them to go through atmo for an aproach or as a first warning system. maybe more usefull if we can build space stations... not sure if it will be a thing though. a friend of mine said buiding space stations would become a thing. your thoughts?
we need to start a campaign to get this in game. i dont think it sold well. plus with the fact that to build it requires more resources and money than your usual ship. you need animators, tech-coding and serious testing and balance for the mine launch, deploy/ hacking system because originally they said the nautilus could hack enemy mines... they might consider the fact it didnt sell well not worth all that investment to get it into game anytime soon......like maybe years from now after the game is bringing in more revenue.
My mane ship is my Javelin and it will carry my Eclipse. I will be stationed in the Vega system and will be doing strikes in Vanduul space. I own a Naut so that i can have a mine field around the area in the asteroid belt where i will park my Javelin after strikes. I will feel a lot more comfortable if i have a place in the Vega asteroid belt to retreat too that has 24 mines to protect me as well as give me early warning if being invaded by Vanduul or pirates. Unless im laying more mines/repairing mines my naut will be stored at Aremis or Selene and ill be in my Javelin doing strikes or parked in my minefield.
The idea of data mines Or stealth mines firing trackers is a nice thought. We already have missions for monitors. Hmmm. I wonder how commonly using the ability to demine will be preferred. Just have a ccu in case Nautilus pans out as I hope. Love the idea of defense being more set into combat.
I bought the Solstice as a ship to protect whatever needs to be protected, denied access. Also as a support ship to group gameplay. I see it also as a ship to find areas of value and deploy a protection system til friends arrive to mine or loot.
I think it’s going to make an excellent long range smuggling ship. You can use the mines to deter chasing ships, have a decent amount of cargo space, might be able to bring along your own repair robot. With its name sake I do hope it will be a stealthy ship, with at least some game play dedicated to that. …. It would be an extra nice bonus if it was fast too but it’s probably to much to hope that it will be the fastest ship in its size and class.
This is my end-game earn-in-game goal ship. I really like the idea of it, though it will be a very niche ship at the end of the day. But anyone who says that it will be useless have forgotten what game they are playing.
Really fun conversation about a very interesting ship. I put the video on 1.25x speed and the pace was perfect :D #1 use IMO is for the Orion. Setting up a parameter over a massive mining zone for the Orion to chill and do its thing.
I got myself an LTI Naut for IAE so i obviously love this ship. 1) did see a dev talk about disabeling mines with emp (was on one of their shows) 2) the wiki does list a 1x S3 Belly Turret (Missile Racks) (with 2X empty hardpoints) 3) again on one of the vids, yes drones can be launch and opperated by diffrent ships so u could even use mining drones out of the Naut (subject to change, also useless atm) As for the effectivness of mines (personal oppinion): dont think they will be good, but think they will be usefull for certain small tasks. If torps can kill small ships easily then people will whine about it (rightfully so), so i dont think they will be good at it. Then why use it? well this is the only ship i so far think an engineer is needed on, while moving about u need someone to maintain and repair the mines u have onboard. and u can use it to mine an asteroid belt so your mining buddies can mine in peace (u can set mines not to attack friendlies, also in their vids). It has enough guns to do VERT's, and has some cargo too. seems like u can do a lot with it
I'm very much looking forward to seeing how this ship performs in the verse, you've made some good points. I will have to get one because overall I feel its going to be a great addition to anyones fleet. I guess time will tell.
I see you were answered about the back missile turret. But you should know the side turrets extend out like the HammerHead when manned. So they are not as close to the ship as the appear when a gunner is seated. That's the running rumor, but it makes sense
Oh ok thats great info, that would certainly make sense, I actually like the sound of that regarding the turrets just to help extend the protection of the rear. Thanks 😊
Mines makes sense as a technology. But I think that mines are going to be specialized drones. And the Nautilus is going to be the primary drone carrier of the game. Needs to fix a Javelin? Call a Vulcan with 2 repair drones. Need to fix a dozen Javelins? Call a Nautilus with 24 repair drones. Exploration drones, essentially radar drones, can be deployed to stop that pesky Eclipse. This makes so much more sense that just “mine layer”.
This thing is going to become an absolute must have when run in combination with a large (or capital) defensive ship and something with quantum interdiction. It'll effectively force your enemies to drop out into a minefield and kill box and unable to jump away
This ship will be fun. I wonder what its detection ranges will be, probably large, as that would make sense, but that makes me wonder about the Nuatilus' ability to get status updates from mines, or maybe even live feeds, if close enough? Or would the mines be drop n forget? Of course some balancing issues would arise with any of that. We cant allow 24 surveillance cameras, as that could be a whole new ship (lightbulb)
10k km range detection. Not sure about the status update u think it's live. Also the mines deteriorate over time. So you can't leave it and forget you have to do maintenance
Think the reason you don't have much protection towards the Rear of this ship is due to fact that your Tossing Mines out the ass of it, an by the looks of it can toss 4-5 at a time which so if someone was on your tail they will be having a very bad day. I agree with you I could see this ship being very useful what was the cost of it by the way I never noticed the price when the IAE was going on. My Fleet Right now Rolls out like so I have 3 game packages Saber Raven, Collector Connie pack\upgraded to Pursues, Amd Mustang\upgraded to Endeavor(wish I had not done this but 2 month insurance sucks) Single Ships Banu Merchantman, Crucible, Carrack, Reclaimer, Orion LTI Prefer to have even thou we have no clue how its going to work in the end. I do have some upgrades that I have not yet applied due to fact not sure if I want to swap out the Perseus for Either Polaris or Odyssey would have grabbed a Nautilus one also but for I completely overlooked the ship. But I do plan to grab some of my buy backs and then I will earn the rest in game I figure I would grab the ships that could make money fairly fast that way can just buy the rest if I get a chance thou to get a Pioneer or Javelin but seems like they always sold the hell out lol. See you boys and girls in the verse!
I've got to say that will be a really nice fleet by the time your done ha ha , Also I believe the nautilus does have a rear facing missile turret, so hopefully a little extra protection there. But yes I do think there is potential for any fleet to have this ship among its roster.
@@PIN-o7 Either way Its going to be a great ship with some weird ways to play it, just like the Reclaimer I think I would like to try and use the reaper claw to snag someone in space or even ram them with it you know that has to be well attached.
Yeah I'm kinda hoping that when the mines are deactivated the carrack would be able to store them. Pure conjecture of course but I think it would be a really nice feature.
Two in two fleets . Strong military spec . No idea yet about mines , especially blue on blue and perhaps getting crime stat for say a Genesis Starliner full of VIPs ? Size 7 guns and 3 x L shields sounds reassuring . I am more a defender and so might get tricky with protecting my rep . Otherwise " I won't to be left alone " in the verse could be a possibility . Wonder if it may be possible to remotely turn off mines ( and then if so can they become hacked)
Just think that if you want to have a orion or a mole mining in space, and you need to escort and defend it, a mine field would be pretty good, especially at stopping those heralds creeping around. If you have a bunch of ships sitting in space, possibly some not in used/afk, a mine field would be great for a space post station.
I would expect mine exclusion areas around fixed JP/gates in the beginning. An Org with 10 Nautilus saturates a JP with mines, no one’s getting through. I expect Nautilus will be hit with a lot of mine restrictions in UEE lawful space. In lawless space, probably not so much.
While I absolutely love my nautilus, homing mines with equivalent of S5 torp is a little bit underwhelming dealing with capital ships imho. Don't think it ever grow size or need to be tho. thinking about limited engage ability due to turret/gun traversal, S5 mine, CIG don't want to make another capital killer 🤔 anyway great contents, hard work! Keep it up plz!
No I agree, its awesome but there's something about it that annoys me lol. What's really frustrating is i just can't put my finger on why . Maybe I'm mental. Who knows ha ha 😂
I think the mines would be great to cover a retreat, hit with the chin weapons and run, drawing them into a trap, I love the wedge shape but those turrets seen useless, maybe a top and bottom turret that can defend upper and lower hemispheres , replace a size 7 weapon where those useless turrets are now
I need one of these it will go well with polaris mine go to a distance and torpedo the he'll out them and if they try to come closer the mines have them
I think there will be a use for this ship but it's such a specific role and only specific scenarios so I don't think it will be a popular ship or a particularly useful ship. I think it's mainly being put in game due to a SQ42 mission. But we will see it's a cool idea and could change a lot before release. Price tag is also pretty high so probably only big orgs will use them for base defense.
@@PIN-o7 yeah it will be a great defense ship. Could be good for defending miners too. We will have to see how they balance it. I can imagine they will put a limit to how many can be placed in one area or how long they stay active for. I can imagine it would be a bit op if there wasnt limits and you set up an interdiction sphere with 4-5 of these with all mines deployed.
Hey man if you’re interested my org leader has a few RSI Perseus he is selling, I meant to reach out to you earlier because I saw on one of your videos that is a ship you were really interested in.
This is an Anvil capital ship and anyone who says otherwise is lying. LOOK AT IT I was always a nautilus nay-sayer at first, and I still have my doubts, but I have two things that have changed my mind. 1st, this is the pre-eminent mining or industrial defense ship, especially on a per-player basis. Butting out 48 s2 guns that are automated in an area is just absolute area denial, plus the 2xs7 turret and multiple little turrets means this thing can engage anything smaller than a perseus and some things larger with practical impunity. It might lose all of that power though if you are escorting something moving a lot (depending on deployment time on those sentries) except if you change your tactics and circle the wagons when attacked rather than fleeing and leaving your escorts behind as you would most of the time. 2nd, and speculatively, this might be up there with the liberator in just pure versatility. Depending on the drones or sensor buoys or types of mines you can deploy, this might be able to slot into any game role with just a change to what you have loaded up. Salvage, mining, refueling, repairing, rearming, scanning, EWAR, and who knows what else on top of combat (to a certain extent) all might be in the cards on the BASE version all for minimal manning requirements. I am watching this one, and might CCU into it in place of my BMM in the near future.
I said 48 s2 guns cause each sentry drone has 2xs2 guns. Smaller range than the popper mines, but the popper mines are single use and also only equivalent to a s5 torp according to old dev stuff.
if u think the ship is bad youll either die by it a lot or not at all and to those who say its good will prolly get what they paid for or realize the melt option exists, i want every ship to have their use and place in the game btw this one is no exception, i want it for making hammerheads and perseus to think twice about a chase, we'll have to see when they release it but i feel like bigger ships will have a really hard time avoiding small very mobile projectiles almost like a missile or M50 size so we'll see

Am I the only guy who sees the ship and think that it looks Anvil rather than Aegis?
i own a nautilus, im not so sure that the carrack can store them properly like the nautilus does, but who knows!
You raise some good questions, I guess time will tell. 😃
It will fire it's 'equipped' weapons.. so I would say, yes.. The mines can be outfitted with whatever you want :)
Just think that if you want to have a orion or a mole mining in space, and you need to escort and defend it, a mine field would be pretty good, especially at stopping those heralds creeping around.
If you have a bunch of ships sitting in space, possibly some not in used/afk, a mine field would be great for a space post station.
Good call.
Thank you
Strange looking? I think it looks bad ass.
No I agree, its awesome but there's something about it that annoys me lol. What's really frustrating is i just can't put my finger on why . Maybe I'm mental. Who knows ha ha 😂
@@PIN-o7 I think you’re annoyed because it doesn’t have good turret coverage, especially towards the rear 🤣✌🏻
I think the mines would be great to cover a retreat, hit with the chin weapons and run, drawing them into a trap, I love the wedge shape but those turrets seen useless, maybe a top and bottom turret that can defend upper and lower hemispheres , replace a size 7 weapon where those useless turrets are now
Yeah I agree, there is certainly a game loop for space mining.
I need one of these it will go well with polaris mine go to a distance and torpedo the he'll out them and if they try to come closer the mines have them
Yep
I think there will be a use for this ship but it's such a specific role and only specific scenarios so I don't think it will be a popular ship or a particularly useful ship. I think it's mainly being put in game due to a SQ42 mission. But we will see it's a cool idea and could change a lot before release. Price tag is also pretty high so probably only big orgs will use them for base defense.
Some good points, it could also be useful for defending colonies in the future. I am looking forward to seeing how this ship affects the verse.
I think the mine degradation will be key to balancing or at least a big part of it. I like your mining idea though, that would be cool.
Those mines will not be free, can ship pick up them again?
Yes
Your sutch a good video maker
thank you, and there will be plenty of merchant man videos coming in the future.
If this thing doesn't have leather seats and wifi I send it back.
Hey man if you’re interested my org leader has a few RSI Perseus he is selling, I meant to reach out to you earlier because I saw on one of your videos that is a ship you were really interested in.
The rear is covered by a missile turret located at the rear of the ship
awesome good to know thank you
@@PIN-o7 you can also sit in a cloud of mines to cover your back.. :P
Never gonna joust one of these 😂
More banu merchent man videos
Why does a minelayer have two size sevens? Just seems like poor design based on selling ships rather than creating well considered roles.
This is an Anvil capital ship and anyone who says otherwise is lying. LOOK AT IT
I was always a nautilus nay-sayer at first, and I still have my doubts, but I have two things that have changed my mind.
Smaller range than the popper mines, but the popper mines are single use and also only equivalent to a s5 torp according to old dev stuff.
if u think the ship is bad youll either die by it a lot or not at all and to those who say its good will prolly get what they paid for or realize the melt option exists, i want every ship to have their use and place in the game btw this one is no exception, i want it for making hammerheads and perseus to think twice about a chase, we'll have to see when they release it but i feel like bigger ships will have a really hard time avoiding small very mobile projectiles almost like a missile or M50 size so we'll see
they add to many ships with little to no use at this stage of the game
This ship's a dud, it'll only work if playing against noobs.
