- A day in the life of an airship's crew, an airship adventure. The A60+ Lightship 1996 journey back home from Germany to Britain,
piloted by Australian hero blimp pilot Michael Nerandzic and his crew.
Years later, on the night of 12 June 2011, Mr Michael Nerandzic saved the lives of three passengers when the airship he was piloting caught fire over Reichelsheim Airfield, Friedberg, Germany.
The blimp had run into difficulty on its landing approach in Oberursel.
Mr Nerandzic, 52, of Balgownie, ordered his three passengers to jump to the ground from a height of about 2m. The drop in weight as the passengers disembarked is believed to have caused the burning craft to shoot 50m into the sky with the veteran pilot still aboard. The wreck came down in an empty field.

The level of coordination required to fly this thing, whether it be in the cars on the road, or preparing the aircraft itself for takeoff, is so impressive! What a fascinating video! A memory of a time in the past when companies used to do all sorts of cool side-projects and challenges. I am thinking of Prada's Luna Rossa, Thrust2, Solar Challenger, Breitling Orbiter and the Virgin Atlantic Challenger as well!
That would be cool to take a ride in
I’m loving Mike’s steampunk computer.
