Love my Xumo Box and programming. I do have one issue, it involves the use of "favorites" on the guide setup. When I had my original setup, I could put in a favorites list, my channels and it stayed when I turned on the cable box. I have discovered that this does not happen with the XUMO guide, but my work around is to choose the favorites in the guide options. This brings my second point; when I have my favorites up, I still get a full list of channels on the guide and I have to scroll through until I get my favorites and stay within that range. If I try to delete a channel from the (extra channels) channel guide, it also deletes it from the favorites channel. Annoying! Can that be fixed either by me or do I have to wait until Spectrum Xumo updates and fixes that bug.
Saying we are frustrated is putting it mildly! It's too bad to don't know or understand things before you make a decision. After having Direct TV for many years the remote was no issue, but when ATT became their internet provider and they mergered had to move on. We had Roku before the Spectrum tech disconnected and setup Xumo box. Our issue is the remote! It's like using something in the dark. I have many questions but I'll start with just one. How do you get to the DVR/Library of recorded shows. Thank you for putting your answers online!
Thank you for your comments! I’m I did a video on the DVR if that is helpful. One note: DVR didn’t show up for me until I added it to my plan. Here is that video: ua-cam.com/video/kCYtZohXl7U/v-deo.htmlsi=fnnuzg5iLbqnPguR
I run my video sound through a Sony 5.1 amp. Sound is working fine on all speakers. My biggest issue is I get a breif blank screen once in awhile. I know its not my internet speed because I was using a Roku before without issue. I even doubled my internet speed to 500mg when I picked up the streaming box.
I’ve learned a better way to show which buttons to push in the two videos on their remote control. Here is the first: ua-cam.com/video/hTAI2kWAFao/v-deo.htmlsi=ewb0ag68yJhJjhs5 and here is the second: ua-cam.com/video/9Tpn2X18Erk/v-deo.htmlsi=mLKpXEIXJ3X4SK-N hope these are of help!
I do not know. It’s frustrating because clearly it’s technologically possible. They could probably even just do a software update to give it to us, but I have not seen any added features and functionalities in the almost year I’ve been using it.
trying to enter the channel numbers with the key pad on the remote and it is not working. Also you indicated in the video holding the center button down when in the menu to change the way the channels are shown in the menu and I can not get that to work either. Would certainly appreciate any assistance or idea's to try.
@timwilliams5846 I was wrong about my prior answer, and found a way to add your own universal remote control. Here is the video on how to do it: ua-cam.com/video/bfyVjOM9TJM/v-deo.html
I think because I don’t have traditional Spectrum Cable box, I am able to get an even cheaper priced “Spectrum TV Essentials” plan without local tv channels. Shows up as $24.99 for that plan on my bill.
@@puttothetest I think I will call them and see if they will let me get that plan and Xumo instead of cable box. I also use Apple TV but on family member can only use a numbered remote interface.
Please let me know if I misunderstood your question, but if you were asking the same as the previous question about a Spectrum TV plan without local channels: I think because I don’t have traditional Spectrum Cable box, I am able to get an even cheaper priced “Spectrum TV Essentials” plan without local tv channels. Shows up as $24.99 for that plan on my bill.
Yes for those like me who don’t have a supported smart TV. I need a streaming box (Xumo or Roku or Apple TV ) on my tv. If you had a supported Samsung Smart TV, that would have the Spectrum app so no need for a streaming box like Xumo. Basically you need the Spectrum TV app to get their content, and it has to run on one of those supported devices mentioned in the video. Here is that link to Spectrum’s supported devices: www.spectrum.com/cable-tv/streaming/spectrum-tv-app?opredirect=cable-tv_spectrum-tv-app&opredirect=cable-tv_spectrum-tv-app
There are two places. First is the “My Library” which is your DVR content, see question 2 in this video for that ua-cam.com/video/dbtQxQy9hJk/v-deo.htmlsi=2l--nT15pl-bO8S5 and additionally all of your on demand content can be called up on the tab just to the right of “My Library” called “On Demand”…that’s the content you can watch without having to have recorded it.
Can you talk a little bit about "My List"? How do you save a series? How do you delete anything in "My List"? And then how do you retrieve and watch shows that you placed in "My List"?

I only did the without local channels and pay $29 / month for channels plus $5 / month for Xumo box. That $5 charge ends once I reach the $60 payoff amount (similar to a cell phone). And it requires internet, which is not included so you have to have internet of some kind either via spectrum or another provider. The full bill is at 3:30 in this video ua-cam.com/video/Q3l_i5jU4rY/v-deo.htmlsi=GvIZyoxFR3Pu9PZj
The device does not have an ear piece. That is, you can’t listen without audio out loud. If I am wrong tell me. I looked for a Spectrum alternative device, and there does not appear to be any.
@janburrelsman5293 Actually I forgot how to favorite channels already and was also wondering myself. So I just made a quick video with the steps: ua-cam.com/users/shortsJOWn7r5269c?si=D6SIu6hHF54bu7go
Only if it’s recorded and you are playing it back. In that case you first click the center circle button to pause it and the timeline appears, then you click the Navigation circle (outer circle) right to FF or left to Rewind. Hope that helps!

I regret buying this as it just doesn't work well. Video often freezes especially during commercials. The remote lacks an easy last channel or channel up down buttons. Lastly it cuts off if you don't touch the remote every 3 hours. This will be for my garage tv as it's not usable for normal tv watching
For what it’s worth, and this is a guess on my part, you might try checking the sleep setting on the box. Did a video answer for this question in this weeks Q & A Wednesday ua-cam.com/video/tC7WtaNnoJA/v-deo.html
I'm totally shocked that there's no mention of the lack of Pause (for up to 90 minutes) of live TV??? Maybe in one of your other videos? We (an HOA community of 2k homes) just transitioned to this Xumo package as marketed by Spectrum and we universally are very disappointed with the lack of controls. This was NOT an upgrade from what we had before it is a downgrade in most respects regarding services. If you're reading this and you have some control of your destiny in the choice of services then I would highly recommend that you run, not walk away from Xumo Spectrum services. It's NOT ready for primetime, for sure.
It is frustrating, I think the lack of pause is covered in the 2nd Q and A video we did “Q & A 2 with Spectrum TV Xumo Streaming Box - Play, Pause, Record and Set Your Power On Channel” ua-cam.com/video/i3qYIyO7RrI/v-deo.html Here is the playlist with all of the Q and A conversations, in case this is helpful: ua-cam.com/play/PLLbePDmgnMX_82K7X1gLuP8Pb9lZC4T5n.html But most helpful may be these two we did on remote control hacks: Hacks for Spectrum Xumo Remote Control Part 1: Top 10 Shortcuts ua-cam.com/video/hTAI2kWAFao/v-deo.html Hacks for Spectrum Xumo Remote Control Part 2: 10 More Shortcuts ua-cam.com/video/9Tpn2X18Erk/v-deo.html And if you are subscribing to their cloud DVR, this one might be helpful: Spectrum Xumo Stream Box DVR ua-cam.com/video/kCYtZohXl7U/v-deo.html
@@puttothetest - thanks for the reply. What I did as a "workaround" to give me primitive control of Pause live video was to toss my current TV (actually send it into a bedroom we rarely use) and buy a new "Roku TV" which can Pause live tv on the antenna input. I took the XUMO HDMI output and routed into an HDMI to RF converter into the back of the TV as the "Antenna input" and in that way I have Pause. Now I can pee on my own time not the scheduled programming time, LOL. Of course there's some loss of signal fidelity but one can add (I did ) a remote controlled HDMI switch to switch the HDMI to the RF Converter or the HDMI input of the TV if in need of HDTV for movies etc. All this for the lack of a primitive function that's been around 25+ years!
@btomas225 this is genius! Absolutely genius!! I’ve been looking at the Tablo antenna DVR but never heard of converting the hdmi out into rf and using a Roku tv built in pause function. That is a truly creative solution to overcome backwards (Xumo) technology.
Had it for 24 hours and returned it. The rewind and fast forward is ridiculous. You have no idea where you are when fast forwarding through a commercial.
Why does it suck so bad? No rewind/pause lmao. Will spectrum be going bankrupt from putting this pos out to their customers? I dropped spectrum and went 5G+UA-camTV. Its way better.
It sucks badly. How in God’s name do you change the channel. I thought this crap had live tv, but it’s nothing like traditional live tv. Returning after one day! The lag for changing channels is ridiculous!

Is there a instruction booklet with instructions you are describing. I cannot see buttons you are pushing. Moving to fast.

Is Spectrum or Xumo planning on adding a pause function for live TV. This is probably a show stopper for me..

Why can’t u get a complete description of the program like the old guide? Even “more info” offers nothing
That’s an excellent question - honestly I hadn’t noticed until you just said that.
I have the same question as previous one, thank you,

I don’t see a way, here is what I tried to see if this is possible (on this weeks Q & A Wednesday) ua-cam.com/video/tC7WtaNnoJA/v-deo.html
I worded my question wrong but you answered it 2 weeks ago on "How do I set the Power On channel". Thanks again! You're a big help!
Do you need more than one box for multiple TV"s in different rooms

Not by wire but yes soundbars with Bluetooth. My goal is to find an example in the next few weeks and post a video of setting that up.
Can you rewind or pause a show? If so, how?
Only if it’s recorded and you are playing it back. In that case you first click the center circle button to pause it and the timeline appears, then you click the Navigation circle (outer circle) right to FF or left to Rewind. Hope that helps!
