Xumo is the hardest appt ever. Spectrum has a xumo remote for their subscribers. If I had known this I would not even considered getting spectrum. No instructions on how to use the remote.
Why I returned my Xumo: 1) it would frequently freeze when trying to access a recorded show on the cloud dvr, despite having ultra high bandwidth internet, requiring a reboot. None of the online suggestions worked. 2) when trying to fast forward or rewind a recorded show, all you see is the time, not the video stream, as with a dvr cable box, making it very difficult to ff or rewind with any precision. 3) very limited number of apps that can't be added to. 4) it would record all shows in a series, repeats and new, despite only new shows being specified. 5) when deleting a recorded show, it would default to the 'keep show' option instead of the 'delete show' choice. Fix those and I will reconsider. But for now, Xumo is not ready for prime time.
Spectrum does not advertise the Broadcast TV Surcharge, this only comes up after you sign up TV service. This is a monthly Charge of $25.75 plus tax on top of it!
Spectrum is getting rid of its cable TV for streaming only service. The cons of Spectrum TV streaming only service is that the internet is required and faster speed for Spectrum TV to work. The more TVs you have the faster the internet speed is required.
It's not as simple as having a smart TV that actually supports the Spectrum TV app, saving money, and eliminating extra cables. Not all smart TVs support the Spectrum TV app, so this may be set as the cable box only, preventing re-logins through the same streaming service on Xumo as on the smart TV.
I'm not sure what you mean. If you use Apple TV you have to subscribe to other services and link them to Apple TV if I remember correctly. So I'd say no
@@DerekEvans1013 Thanks. That’s what I figured out. Xumo would be redundant so I returned it to my internet provider. The provider is Spectrum I’m my area.
@@morgenholz the beat thing you could do is run from Spectrum. They are screwing people over, especially during the natural disasters. People paying for internet and services they can't even use. I left Spectrum tv years ago and went with Hulu. I'm trying Verizon Home Internet out right now and it's working fine. Good luck with Spectrum though
My Tv and sound system is 5yrs old and the controller does not work recognize them. So then I tried getting my universal remote to link to Xumo. They are not even on their code list. There's no DVR so you need to watch live, plus you can't go back. It would be nice if I could've add an external HDD and DVR to there. Even worse Spectrum yes they are doing away with cable boxes and this is it. So glad I "upgraded".
This product is NOT ready for primetime! My HOA community switched from our traditional cable service to the Xumo service and the very harsh reality was to loose basic functionality we all used to rely on, specifically the ability to Pause, Rewind and FF through live TV. There's NO way to do it via Xumo and this is a loss of usefulness. It's like transporting back to the 1990's! I and many others have become accustomed to using this feature when we missed something that was said, need a bathroom break or the phone rings and we need to answer it then we could Pause. Not so with Xumo... It drones on without you.
i have just basic tv with spectrum internet phone ,,,bundle ok at 176 monthly ,,,,friends told me about the xumo box ,,,ok now looking into it i beleive you loose your local channels ? which is not mentionned here at all ? why ? its important i think ,,,,,
I reiterate what others are saying in other reviews. A HUGE show stopper for me is there's NO pausing of live TV.. REALLY??. Unacceptable! Another show stopper is in fast forwarding thru recorded media, the picture locks up and you have to guess where you are in the entire process. In all other streaming services, you can see where you are in the process frame by frame. Again, unacceptable. Fix it Xumo!!! What a disappointment this is. I love the remote and being able to pick live channels by number, but I'm also dumping this product, as I'm sure MANY folks will.

Its very easy setup and does not take long!!

I went to Fire TV and love it
You might need to reset your internet, because that is usually the cause of freezing and buffering.
@@jeffreybower5959 No. Time proved it was their system and they discontinued their dvr service for 3 months.

Why!? That is pointless!!🤣🤣
100 💯!
The voice activated feature looks good but I haven’t tried it yet.

Would I need xumo if I already have Apple TV?

Xumo ALSO has parental controls :)

Did you call spectrum to order it!?
Did you say his name is Joe Dirt??? Just get a Roku or Fire TV...they blow Xumo out of the water
