Hey Jake, great review. I don’t know if you remember but a little while ago you gave my daughter Leeloo a shoutout and some encouragement on one of your livestreams, just wanted to let you know that last weekend she shot for her first scoring award. The award is the 252 award at 20yds with 3 dozen arrows (imperial scoring, gold being a 9, and you have to shoot the score twice). Out of a maximum of 324 she shot 310 and 312, just wanted to let you know that your encouragement helped and meant a lot to her. Thanks from Leeloo and her very proud dad 😊😊👍👍

Already has 17 world records which is why it has become so popular. Mybo/Merlin make several recurve risers so it's nice to see no compromise for barebow

Nice, they decently priced to compared to some barebows on the market I've seen. I'm learning archery have my first lesson in August in uk, so hopefully I'll do well. Because my goal is to compete so obviously need good equipment.

The CNC tool paths being visible on the Mybo's are a deliberate design choice, as they have that on the Elite, a predecessor riser.

@@electoplater on some risers it's done, like Mybo's and the Border Tempest (in select areas on the riser).

So I looked at those other risers, what I see here on the Mykan and what I see on the elite and Wave-X are different. The other two risers are deliberate grooves and not tooling marks like on this MYKAN There is a big difference.

We both have been barebow shotting for the last 1.5 year. Much of what we now know is thanks to you (she now holds brazilian record - outdoor - and two silver medals from the panamerican Championship, last year, in Chile.)

Wow congratulations to her. I start my lessons in August and hopefully go into competition, so i need good reliable equipment. I live in uk aswell so could even visit their shop and look around, but its nice to read they are competition worthy, as the price of this one isn't too bad, need to save though as I'm not wealthy at all, but its a passion I've wanted to get into for a while.

Yes absolutely, I reasonatly got the samick sage bow, from a company in uk, and it is an extremely well made bow, fits lovely in my hand, brace hight was spot on at around 8inch which is recommended for this bow, although it says anywhere between 7 and a half inch too 8 inch. Only issues I'm having now is my arrows, so going to do my pull back length then go from there on what arrows i need. But the one shown in this video I'm going to find out if they sell these as they do have a huge amount of different risers.

Mybo has such unique riser designs, especially that this is so specialized for barebow. I really appreciate how different risers look. There’s just so many options out there. It’s crazy. I remember feeling so overwhelmed when I was picking out my riser. But it’s perfect and I love it so much. It’s probably one of my favorite possessions. Thank you for another great video Jake!

I shot the preproduction model of this bow and found it the best bare bow I've shot. It felt really smooth. If I were going to compete then I would certainly buy this riser. I shot a total mismatch of arrows lengths and spines and there wasn't a huge spread even at longer ranges. Once I had the gap set I put everything in the gold

Knowing how outstanding their compounds & recurves are, it's no surprise that these new "Mykan" Barebow specific risers are considered the best out there.

Regarding little screws coming loose i like to use VC 3 Threadmate. Remove the screw, clean it if necessary, paint it with VC 3, wait for half an hour and reassembly. The screw can be adjusted without the VC 3 loosing it's capability to stop screws vibrating loose. Perfect for limb pocket adjustment screws and tiller bolts.

    Hi Jake
I thought I posted a comment, but it doesn't show up. So I will redo my comment.
My Pop has this bow, and he has been shooting it for about 2 months. He has a Hoyt Arcos and a CD Riser, and he really likes the way this MyBow shoots.
I enjoyed your review. I did not follow your brace height adjustment from the plunger hole. That is new to me, I have not been aware of that method. I always measure brace height from the throat of the grip to the string.
Thank you for sharing this review. I will share it with Pop and see what he thinks about your observations.
The Tiller bolt 4/5mm is a weird choice, and the other undersized hardware is a concern to a viewer. Lack of additional accessory holes limits this to strictly barebiw. They would have been able to step into the recurve market if they had added additional holes. All in all, this bow meets my Pop's needs.
Both he and I believe the best Barebow riser is the CD Riser. I will ask Calvin Smock of CD Archery to send you a demo for review.

Besides the fine performance, you're really right at the end when you mention what a good looking bow this is, rather than some of the "bleh" looking ones around now. Thanks! Really nice review, i actually learned things through a review lol. I'm from uk, we have great clubs, I'm joining one near me. I would love a decent bow, unfortunately due to health issues I'm very restricted in price. Bow i have is just a 50£ standard recurve bow, it's ok but you can't change nothing on it, even limbs would be a challenge because they make these in bulk, so everything is just made for what it comes with if that makes sense. Need to travel to a archery shop for next bow, because online buying for a bow isn't ideal, you really need to feel the bow before buying imo. Unless you really know bows, and i don't, so I'm relying on other reviews and some are very generic so doesn't tell me alot about the bow. You're channel was first one i subbed to, knowing you're archery past I'm very confident i can rely on you're knowledge, especially shooting tips which I've learned so much, the T stance, pull threw etc has really improved my aim. Also want to try other types of bows, but again price unfortunately is an issue. Hopefully I'll get to competition standard, trying not to be big headed but seems I've got a natural feel for archery, maybe because when i was younger my brother and i made bows, and arrows, and i just naturally had a good aim, although my stance wasn't great, so now I've improved in just a week.

Finally! Nice review. I have owned the Mykan for about 3-4 months and am very happy with it. I have only been doing archery for about a year now so I'm not very experienced, but I have almost the same impression as you regarding the Mykan. The only thing I think is strange is while I agree on the adjustments on the limb bolts is being limited it is still giving me 40# OTF on my 38# limbs (just below 29" draw length) with the limb bolts loosened about 2 turns. Maybe you are used to get more out of your limbs weight wise? :)

I want to get my first bow, I’ve started off doing barebow as it appeals more and I’m loving it. I’m wondering, would you choose the Mykan over a GT?
