Asmongold's obsession with Chocobo racing is the most unexpected thing to come out of this.
Given his love of mounts I guess it’s not too unexpected
Chocobo breeding has more meaningful long-term progression than anything in WoW.
Can you use the chocobo as a mount in the open world with the better stats?

Following this guy for so long, honestly. He's not much different, he was certainly sad when the game started declining. But when he played things he enjoyed, it's just the same. The only difference now is probably he has a MUCH nicer community joining now. Which is going to absolutely make the difference.
It cracks me up how Zep can never get her bad jokes out without laughing at herself. She's such a goofball.

We are…I’m still using free trial and the more I discover the more I want to play every class.
As far as zeplas sub count going crazy, I'm pretty sure it's simply from these huge wow streamers hopping over to ff14, and everyone else seeing the game and trying it. She has guide videos and stuff, thats how I found her.
Zepla is like their emotional support bun. They are PTSD soldiers finally back in the world and she is helping them heal their souls.

The chemistry with these 3 is just huge. You have the logically critical, but understandable Asmon, the chill cool guy Rich, and sassy lighthearted Zepla.
Hopefully, we get more of these after each expansion and maybe get a super stream with Summit1G at the end before or after Endwalker releases.

Yeah ffxiv content creators was stagnant for too many years, we only mostly only had elitists like Arthats or Vex or parasites like Larryzaurus or MrCrappy. Basically anyone is noteworthy outside of few small ones.
This trio is finally making it bigger and interesting and whats most important - for everyon. I feel like they are more entertaining for wider audience than any ffxiv content creators before.

Honestly, always have enjoyed Asmon and his content, but since he started playing FFXIV, and other things, it's been so much better. He seems genuinely happy and less stressed.
Asmon: "There are so many other wow content creators that absolutely hated streaming wow & I realized why I didn't really hate it as much: It's because I never played the game."
- Basically because he just used it as a vehicle to entertain people and goof off, he didn't see how bad the game had gotten.
- WORD. Like, WoW only seems fun when I've been away for a long while and most of my memories are actually just my toons and my friends and not the game itself. The game... sucked. FINALLY in 2021 I've been able to convince enough other people to join me in other games that I don't need to keep coming back to WoW.
To me is only fun because my friends are still playing, if they leave believe me I won't enjoy it anymore
I have no intentions of ever playing WoW again as things are. A decent expansion wouldn't be enough either, the only way I'm looking at WoW again is a reboot or a sequel.
Bad games can be fun for years if you play it with the right people too. Basically yeah, if the game is a vehicle to get something else out of it (social interaction with friends, money, etc) then the quality of the game is not really that important.
I wouldnt just say its bad it's near atrocious. The only thing I genuinely think is good anymore in WoW is raiding. Everything else is either awful or feels like a mandatory chore like M+. WoW doesnt feel like a game anymore to me.
Unpopular opinion: I really really like how insightful Asmon is when it comes about games in general.
Zepla is so wholesome, she's the embodiment of how the ff community has seemed to me so far lol
she is precious. :) her videios actually really wanted to make me have a solid go at ff14 after a year or so of trying to play. I managed to meet a great fc who accepts me for me, and is warm and welcoming. I ended up making a close friend from that.

Only know rich from very recently and his FFXIV content. Seems like such a chill sweet dude.. that meltdown was shocking tbh.
Not having played WoW since Draenor, even back then I saw that kind of thing from people playing it. It's one reason why I started playing FF14 in 2015. That short clip of his melt down makes me think More DoTs audio clip. I should watch it again, it makes me laugh.
Because WoW punishes mistakes too harshly.
Wipe on a boss? Guess what, enjoy that 5min run back and reapply that 400g food buff, 500g rune buff, etc.
Final fantasy allows you to quickly recover from mistakes and get back in there.
The rage and toxicity in WoW honestly comes from the fact that every mistake wastes monumental amounts of time.

@@noahmcclellan4372 Don't worry about it, bud. You were right. WoW has treated it's players like doormats for years. We kept on being loyal, and were abused for it. A raid was a tremendous amount of work, and they could fail with minor mistakes being made. You had to be a professional player, or have a T3 connection or lag would doom a raid. I exaggerate somewhat, but when a game becomes a second job, it's stressful. Problem is, casual players also like nice gear, and the only way to get some things was higher end content. But WoW makes it's money from having players online all the time, making poor financial decisions. It's not ethical, but it's effective.
Asmond, Rich and Zepla are a solid trio that I like to see. I feel like they could be a solid voice to help guide MMOs as much as Lum the Mad from years long past.

As much as I like FFXIV creators, I am a little upset that they provoked Asmon's competitive nature.
I have this feeling that whether Asmon succeeds or fails, the aftermath of the result will have an impact on FFXIV culture in general.
Asmon enjoys MSQ.. He’s not rushing it and makes sure all story content is on his main stream.

I'm playing FF14 myself but I'll come back to swtor for a bit at least to check out the new expansion. I'm glad they're still making content for that game.
@@Lorijenken I just haven’t been able to handle the complete restructuring that they did with the infinite empire story. It’s really overwhelming coming back to it and seeing the entire shift to the way the game is built.
SWTOR, FFXIV and ESO are all straight up better games than WoW is now. No issue saying that.
People desperately need to try other games, WoW is the fucking dregs of the genre now. It isn't a pillar, it isn't some trendsetter, most of the game is rotted out and unsupported except seasonal instance garbage.

Just so everyone is aware, Taiwan's pollution is not because of Taiwan, it's due to China's smoke pollution and Taiwan being too close. Not much Taiwan themselves can do about it while right across on the otherside they continuously polluting everything. This is an issue for Korea too.
Even in Kyoto we often get wind from China with tons of pollution and they recommend staying inside...

The problem with asmond’s delusion on ultimate isn’t he can’t do it, it’s that he can’t do it within the current pace he’s going with the amount of time he’s giving himself

He explains a bit in his second stream. It's just to create hype and story for his viewers to hooking on. Either he could do it or not, everyone win, and it's working tbh. He knows how to entertain his viewers and he's really good at it.
I still don't see how he wouldn't be able to do it. He has like 90 days and seems to be completing like one third of heavensward in one sitting.

@@ruukinen The cutscenes just get longer and things are going to take longer later on than they do for heavensward. Even the raids / alliance raids have longer cutscenes than the ARR ones.
And even still, he has a pretty decent chunk of time until he gets "through" heavensward. Especially if he min ilevel / no echo's all the raids and trials every expansion.
It took me 2 months of nothing but story to clear up to 5.3. And i'm talking quite literally nothing but story. Asmongold is raiding, doing extremes, doing gold saucer, and doing story yes. But it will take a long time.
I really like the videos with Rich, Asmon and Zepla - these three vibe together very well.
I absolutely LOVE the chemistry and insight all three of you bring to the table as individuals. I could watch you three talk all day. Much love to Asmon, Rich and Zepla

I love the background difference. The two FF14 players is all bright and lit up and then there is Asmon on a 2nd floor dungeon.
I'm just starting with FFXIV, not even lvl 40 yet, and already getting so invested in the story because it's so well written, even the side quests are written well. I started as a lancer randomly and it's been so much fun. The character development is great, by the time I fought Foulques and he falls off the cliff edge I felt so bad for him. And that jerk in Uldah that you meet harassing that other npc claiming that she stole food...dude I hated him so much lol. And the quest to get the hairdresser guy's new tools and was so funny I chuckled for a bit. I'm thinking I'm going to have to fight Sweeney Todd here, and it's just that the guy is a kind of loopy artistic genius. Even the mistakes I make cause I'm new are funny. Like when I got carpentry, I armed my little beginners saw and ended up standing there in my underwear about to freak out cause I thought all my combat gear had vanished for good lol. It's turning out to be such a great game.
Wait until your character starts to tilting his/hers head in cutscenes. That's the real pivotal moment of character development. Nod and hand gesture wasn't really enough...

Completely agree man. The story is very good and keeps you hooked to see how it will progress. There are definitely some weak parts about it, like doing a lot of backtracking that doesn't make much sense but I don't really have an issue with that. I started 2 weeks ago and I am already lvl 60 on my DRK with a lot of the MSQ to go through (trial account) but I kept my WAR at a nice lvl to just do the MSQ on that job. I just really wanted the Shire gear you get with poetics so that grind boosted my leveling by a lot.
Still trying to get my head around tanking and trials mostly but I never felt as if I needed to rush to the end, I just do random stuff that I like, especially the Golden Saucer events, Chocobo races and Triple Triad being my favorites. really missed playing a game like this and props to the devs by creating such a fun myriad of systems to play with.
True, I started to do some side quests to level up my alts, besides dungeons and others, and it was a really big surprise how good some side quests are. I play since years and never did side quests hahaha so I have a lot to work on
@@paulogaspar8295 yeah I skip too earlier in the game but then I created a new character recently after watching many content creators. This time I forced myself to read through all the texts and they make sense. I quite enjoy the story now the second time.
Asmond, esfand, and rich influenced me to take the dive into FF14.
I feel like I'm getting out of an abusive relationship. I tell people I'm new at the start of duties (dungeons) and they are so helpful and nice. Its insane
Things that you might "hear" from others after saying you're new to the dungeon:
"Cool, take your time and watch the cutscenes"
"Ok do this and this on this boss"
After the wipe:
"Ah, sorry forgot to tell you about this mechanic, don't worry about it we'll get it this time"
And get a commendation in the end.
And this kinda hospitality makes you wanna pass it on to the people after you and it keeps the overall community positive
@@riqui7835 Today I did the titan fight in main story. Myself and the healer were new and the healer especially was struggling, we wiped twice.
The party was so encouraging and when we downed it the other 2 veteran players waited for us to get out of the cinematic to emote cheer and clap for us before leaving the group... its such a difference
@@84elmer Happpened me on my MSQ doing Midgardsormr. Started with the tradition "Hey o/ first time" as the tank, and two of the guys in the group clarified every mechanic for all 3 bosses and waited until we were all clear on the plan before each of the fights. Good times.

@@helloimshawn it's pretty clear it was a combination of stress, depression and exaggeration for the stream. Rich really had so many bad experiences. Saying he is faking being nice is the dumbest thing I saw. You should watch some of the otk stuff they do.

Have you ever had the experience where you're trying to show a friend your favourite movie, and they just spend the entire time on their phone and don't pay attention at all? That's why XIV players hate boosters.
If the boosters are being respectful towards the community and don´t talk shit about stuff they have no clue about, then it is fine. Not all people behaves like Quin.
@@Dolkerken As long as they're enjoying themselves it's okay, but if you're someone who loves the story it's always a little sad to see people go "Boring! Skip!". In FF14 everything flows out from the story, so no matter what type of player you are, you'll appreciate the game way more if you can get into the story and world.
If you are the kind of person who just does not like story in their games at all, and you choose to play FF14, it's just kinda sad because you're missing out on one of the best parts of the game. Sure there's plenty of other stuff to like, but you're just getting an inferior experience compared to someone who does the same stuff as you but also enjoys the story.
I also find that players who aren't interested in the story (almost always hardcore raider types) are way more likely to be dissatisfied with the game compared to players who do like the story.
It can't be helped as not all people play a game for the sake of the story - some just really wants the gameplay instead of being immersed in the story. As you said, the most important thing is that they're still enjoying themselves as they learn their classes and the games' mechanics. A couple friends of mine chose to boost because story isn't their thing, yet they still had a blast with the game, having fun with it in the ways they enjoyed the most.
Who knows, after a while they might get interested in other contents the game has to offer - including the story. That's one of the reasons the 'New Game +' feature was put in the game by the dev; for those who wish to replay the story and those who skipped, but want to step back and enjoy the story later on.
@@VideogamesPang The problem with the story is that it's a decade of content to catch up to the current expansion. ARR is still 60 hours of reading, and the streamers recently having played it in Jummy and Scarra gave it a serious chance, and say it's a no-brainer to skip once finishing 2.0 or 2.2. Stormblood 4.0 is almost as bad as ARR. HW isn't speedy despite having fair quality. Personally, I haven't been impressed by this game's storytelling until ShB, and I'm not all the way through it. The game is made to keep players busy, as much as to tell a story, and new players have to handle the mountain of content to slog through. I don't blame anyone for a boost and an attempt to recap on youtube, though I think only a skip on ARR is smart, as not all players start an MMO because they actually want to read a book.
I would say that FFXIV has failed boosting players by not making a 2 hour cinema that they must watch before entering ShB.
I play games for story and ARR was extremely underwhelming because of the quest structure and character progression. I would literally fall asleep while doing it.
You have to do fetch quests, run from one NPC to the other(at extremely slow speed due to mount speed and flying being locked away from you) and all you get in return is exposition. Usually, not even voiced, done by easily disliked characters. Meanwhile, you get little to no real action since dungeons use easy mechanics and you rely on a 2.5 seconds GCD with no oGCDs.
You basically get no story AND no gameplay, while everyone around you tells you that its the best shit ever and is going to get even better later. That makes boosting seem like a great idea.
I boosted past ARR after getting to level 40ish MSQ and am yet to regret it. Following DLCs did a good job at explaining what's going on without boring me to death and gameplay got progressively better and better because I couldn't just spam my rotation while moving away from AoE once every 2 hours.

I too had a culture shock when I played FF14. I was so used to the toxicity in WoW that I just accepted it as part of the internet culture, and that there was nothing you could do about it. But in FF14, they actually moderate their chat. And it made the game better.
Same thing with dps meters. I was so used to it in WoW that I felt it was a step back to not have it in FF14. But when I installed ACT, I actually played worse because I was constantly trying to up my damage, subconsciously trying to do more when I shouldn't, etc.
All this time dps meters had a harmful effect. Of course it helped you track your progress, but it also made you more judgmental towards others.
we still have our bad apple and depending on your class you can get revenge on them.
I was hanging out in Gridania and someone tried advertising gil selling and got banned in less than a minute, it was fucking weird seeing the chat get cleaned up near instantly.
Its not bad to use ACT when playing casually. I normally never look at it while I am actively doing content and always look at it either between sections of Castrum/Praetorium just to see where my damage is sitting and making mental notes at what I can do to improve my rotation or if it even matters that much. (Spoiler, in casual content it does not matter that much to mess up your rotations constantly. As long as you are learning and clearing the content you are going to be doing fine.)
I was going to install a DPS meter, but I don't know what the real point is. I know that doing good will be up to me learning the rotation and fights since gear and stat progression is linear. If anyone else might be doing bad, maybe I don't know their story for me to judge because everyone is different. For example they might still be new to the class or their internet isn't on point. I used to play WoW WoTLK on an old HP laptop for example so why be a hypocrite. On the other hand, no warn AFKers and tanks that pull way above their weight limit, different story.
Yeah. I do better when i hide act but use it for recording. Get too distracted sometimes looking at meters.
I can't wait for the meta meta stream where Asmon goes back and watches his reactions to FFXIV videos before he played FFXIV.
Even if it's just a Zepla's quit WoW for XIV video, Id love to see Asmon rewatch with insight and a completely different perspective.
It's free content and maybe humbling. Healing? I like when Rich reminisces about pre XIV.
I'd love to see him react to his Endwalker reaction when he gets through Shadowbringers since now he'll have context for what's going on both plotwise and musicwise

What’s more amazing to me is that even two years after the expansion released, people were still wondering and worrying about spoilers because so many people are playing it for the first time. Pretty cool.
As far as streaming the new expansion early, you thought it was bad your first day streaming the game Asmon, it’s gonna be a cluster fuck around all of the quest NPCs. And that was before everybody is kind of defected lately.

Asmon, Rich and Zepla are like human Digimon characters after they became adults and are now reminiscing of the distant past when they were adventuring together before parting their own way again until the next meeting. Asmon is the hothead protagonist, Zepla is the rival and Rich is the comedy relief.

Im a long time WoW player and Asmon subscriber and I have really enjoyed him playing and talking about FFXIV.
Asmond,Rich, Zepla have a very strong powerful chemistry with each other on the show. I can see these 3 being really good friends in real life for a long time.
