From long island NY, just signed contract in April 2024. Having new home built in Eastport. For the gas stove question. Our new home is gas. Also our visit was great, absolutely no pressure to buy. But now that we have each process is explained very well. From sales, designer, closing staff everyone is so happy to help & answer all questions & if they don't know the answer They will direct you to someone who does.

I haven’t worn makeup in years! I did wear makeup for my son’s wedding and couldn’t wait to wash it off that night! 😂 My makeup now is moisturizer with spf 50.

All of the newer areas down south are all gas ranges
When people say they were "promised" The Villages would not expand past 466A or 44, were these promises put in writing, like in the closing documents people signed when they purchased their home?
Husband lost wallet in Hilton Head parking lot and someone turned it in with EVERYTHING till in it. There are good people out there!

Different strokes for different folks. I can't imagine choosing to live my retirement in essentially a gigantic sprawling suburb. I worked very hard to position my life away from traffic and strip malls. I have friends in TV who love it but it's barefoot in a chickee hut for me.

Oh Linda that comment from Blonde Jam had me spitting out my Monday morning coffee and choke chuckling for a couple of minutes.
I purchased a small vacation condo here on Vancouver Island which my husband and I visited every chance we got before we actually retired and bought a house out here. One morning I was going to the central mailbox area to pick up my mail, newspaper, and my neighbour who lived below our suite was also there, and asked me why I felt it was necessary to put make up on everyday? Luckily, I was on my A game that day, and said "because I can't look as pretty as you without a little help". I thought she was going to drop dead on the spot. lol The moral of the story is, if nasty people come at you, kill them with kindness. I don't think she ever spoke to me again other than in passing to say Hi.

The makeover was fun but I wouldn’t wear that much makeup every day either! Now, I have always wanted to have my colors done - I think that does make a big difference! Your plane ride looks like it was great fun and a special memory for sure. Informative show this week as usual!
I don't personally know Jerry and Linda but I like them and really enjoy this channel. I am a 55 year old female over-the-road truck driver not planning to ever move to Florida but I do find it interesting.

We'd be there in a heartbeat if we could afford it. We did a lifestyle visit in 2022 and absolutely loved it. No pressure at all. It was our choice to see properties. Unfortunately, the housing market has priced us right out of living there. I still love watching the two of you though. I live vicariously thru your video's!

My wife and I did a Lifetime visit in TV. The experience was great and no pressure. Very friendly salesperson. Love the golf cart experience. Love TV.
My wife and I made our reservations for a Lifestyle visit, and at that time they asked us what kinds of things we were interested in seeing. I told them we just want to get a feel for the neighborhoods, and squares, and I think we can do that ourselves. They said ok, and we didn't hear from The Villages at all. Absolutely no pressure. That being said, The Villages personnel don't really need to do anything. People are buying places left and right without any sales effort at all.
Those rude people commenting about Linda’s appearance deserve to be evaluated by Jerry and Linda’s readership. Linda has a natural beauty enhanced by her personality.

You guys (and Gizmo) are great! Very helpful information. We are getting ready to close on a new construction house in Newell (thanks in part to your videos) and had a quick question for you. The Villages realtor told us that upon arrival, we have 7 days to conduct a walkthrough with the builder representative, and then 7 days after the walkthrough to submit an official punch-list of fix items for a builder sub-contractor to come and fix. Can you recommend a trustworthy and thorough home inspector who may accompany us on the walkthrough? Thank you!
We are not sure of that. We did have an inspection on a pre owned home… but no experience with having it done on new homes.

When I was 16 (46 today), I left my wallet on top of my car 🚗 at home. Luckily, the man across the street (I was parked on his side) brought it over to me. I had $900 in the wallet (I was paying my grandma’s bills for her). I was so happy, but could not believe he was honest & returned it. Then, when I was in my mid twenties, I lost my wallet (I am a pocket person, and do not like carrying a wallet for obvious reasons) at the hospital. Luckily, the security guard must have mentioned it to a guy I hadn’t seen in many years from childhood, & he said he knew me. He returned it to my grandma’s (my childhood home). I had a few hundred, but it was almost all I had at the time, as I was Christmas 🎄 shopping. Had he not returned it, there would not have been a Christmas that year. I was very fortunate, although, the security probably should not have given it over, to think 🤔 about it. I think people need to think 💭 of how they would feel-put the shoes 👞 on the other feet sometimes. I know I was very grateful.
We have found the same thing. People are basically good.
I’ve noticed The Villages are building all the way down to CR 470…when you drive down there you’ll see the identifying mark that lets you know where you’re at: the privacy wall. Thanks to you guys for another excellent video 👍👍

Totally agree about TV needing more shopping. Especially for us down south. Hopefully once Eastport is up and running it will change. It's like a day outing to drive up to Spanish Springs to hit all the stores you need only to get home and notice your forgot one thing. We learned that lesson so we make sure we make a list of everything we need. Very cool police golf cart. Much needed. There are folks out there that juiced up their MPH on their carts to 25-30 MPH which is VERY dangerous. I had one encounter with a guy not stopping under a tunnel coming from a "road closed" area and he was flying. Passed all 4 golf carts in front of me at a high rate of speed and I thought for sure he was going to tip over. Not cool. So be careful out there everyone! Great show as usual. 👍

Our heads are spinning as we pack this week......making those decisions about what to bring and what to leave behind ( just gifted two snow shovels to dear friends) So we will see you when we get there next week!
Hahaha.. we did the same thing. No more ice scrapers and snow shovels for us!
Here’s another downside to keeping too much and to getting rid of too much.
I ended up moving back to Maryland to help my daughter with her kids during Covid. She works and needed me to stay home with my grands.
I sold my Florida home and put so many things in storage.
Here are the negatives:
1. Storage is expensive
2. I can never find anything
3. When I need/want anything it’s usually in storage and I end up buying another “whatever” that I am looking for.
4. I decided that I needed a storage unit in Maryland too.
5. I’m a mess!

When we did our lifestyle visit last year our agent took us to the house and made arrangements to show a few houses the next day - I think we spent 2-3 hrs with him then didn't see him again until the day we left. We did talk with a relocation expert there and she assisted us with finding a realtor in our area. Hopefully not much longer and we'll be there.
I started watching your videos a few weeks ago and I absolutely enjoy them. You three are fun to watch and listen to. I'm coming for a lifestyle visit the week of July 4. Maybe I'll get to meet y'all in person. Have a wonderful week.

I live in the Village of De Luna and the houses in my neighborhood came with gas tankless water heater and there is a hook up for a gas dryer. No gas furnace, but that's OK in our mild climate as using heat pump is economical here.

I just saw the beautiful high school and fields they are building. Is Middleton a mixed community? Taxes will go up if you have a school now.
The Villages just released a 7 minute video showing a few of the different floor plans for the Village of Middleton. Home prices start in the $180's and go up to the $400's. There is even a design center for Middleton inside The Villages sales office at Lake Sumter Landing. As Middleton develops, it will be interesting to see what it does for property taxes in the future.

@Barbara Ebner I am still planning on retiring in December, 2024, unless my employer retires me before then. With my Dad gone now, the only thing keeping me in the Midwest is my job. If prices stay steady in The Villages for the next 20 months I can still manage it. If there is a big price jump in The Villages like what happened in 2022, I might have to turn to Plan B. It would be handy to have a crystal 🔮

We got gas stoves in Richmond and plenty of gators to cook on them. I did notice Linda didn't have any alligator flip flops. Love you guys

My mother wanted to put in a generator. They moved to the Villages in 2008, never had a power issue for more than an hour or two, maybe once. Most storms miss The Villages (they were out of town for the tornados in 2008). Her husband called the power company. The power company can tell you exactly when and for how long there have been power outages at your address. It is likely no one needs a generator, and not an expensive one.
That is exactly what we found out. Knock on wood!
You are so right about building enough infrastructure as TV grows. Linda mentioned going to SS area for shopping. One of the reasons we choose to buy/live north of 466 was because of the ease of going shopping or eating out using our golf cart. We can be in Brownwood in thirty minutes by GC. I like the bag for trash, we came from two large containers mandatory which took up space in the garage because it was an HOA violation to keep out front or on the side.
Boozy bingo? Our residents would love it! We play "singo" where we play snippets of songs, but with candy bars as prizes. 😂😂

I did too! My husband said, “how did you know that”. Sorry Jerry that you sold it or had to give it away but you truly miss it.
I also lived on a rural Michigan homestead where I had huge flower gardens, chickens, a beautiful woods, my papermaking studio and my husband's blacksmith shop and wonderful songbirds etc. But it does get harder every year to keep it all up. We miss it but it is also a huge relief to no longer work 24/7. Do you realize that one bag means NO RECYCLING- not good for the environment. Being a good citizen is sometime inconvenient but this is for the greater good.

Do some research on precisely how The Villages processes trash/recycling/yard waste.
The shoe segment was very cute.
I watched the make over video - pretty glamourous and perfect for an evening out - but I wish she would have done a more casual look for day to day. About the vegetable garden, the sticking point may be the raised garden part vs planting straight in the ground. I don't have to worry about that because I can only grow silk plants :)

RE: Generators - We stayed in our new home in The Villages during hurricane Ian. We decided that if the power went out, we would install Tesla Powerwalls. We never lost power. We love our Powerwalls in our other home - but looks like we won't need them in The Villages.
Well, there's the old joke about The Villagers having Disney access by golf cart down in Orlando. Ha. I had large nice looking pots of vegetables on the patio and up against the attached shed. Grew tomato, lettuce, garlic, and even a pot of ginger (we sold the home before the ginger got mature but it was on the way to being full-sized). No complaints about the veggies as they were all in pots. We used to live in Silver Lake Village.
