Well, I don't know what our bureaucrats do in the offices:
The surplus of Wheat should benefit both Govt and Farmers. If Govt can accommodate 30 mmt, why can't they handle 3 mmt surplus of wheat? Store the surplus wheat and benefit your local farmers. The problem is that corrupts are involved in importing and now they are involved in buying the wheat at meager price. Our Government never understands the common man's problem nor tries to solve it. After 6 months, the same Govt will be importing the wheat at an expensive price but would never try to build silos for storage at a very minimum cost!
WHEAT 2024
*Crop projection: 28.8 mmt*
*Imported: 3.2mmt*
*Total available: 32mmt* ...
*Crop consumption: 35mmt*
_Projected Surplus / Deficit on a full year basis: 3mmt deficit, i.e.. a bit short of average consumption._
The existing surplus is 0.8mmt only, as reported. It was better to purchase now (intl mkt prices down) vs. later, at the time of facing shortages, at higher price. Currently, at receiving imported orders, obviously, the stock goes up, but it doesn't mean we have surplus on a full year basis. Current surplus will help Govt to control wheat prices in a better way vs. wheat mafia's black marketeers. Secondly, it is not difficult to sell the surplus wheat at cost or at profit later.
It is better to trust Govt vs. wheat mill mafias.
_Curent year production is projected to have 2.1 per cent increase on the 28.2mmt harvested last year, i.e.. and 9.1 per cent higher than the 2022 harvest of 26.2mmt._
May Allah bless you for being fact based
the government should not be in the business of buying wheat and sugar. let the private sector do it.
Seeing the silver lining, I am impressed that even with the amount of pressure they must have been facing, a lot of government employees and bureaucrats actually did their jobs and refused to bow to the corrupt ministers
Great
low quality wheat kharidi gai,us per bhi profit kamaya gaya.ab kosish ye hai k kissan se sasty khareed kr bahar high profit me sale ki jaye.ye govt hamesha yehi krti hai.kissan ko mana krdete k mat kaasht karo.

Local wheat was RS. 3500 per man and international wheat is still at RS. 2200 per man ... So government made a vice decision of import... Still Pakistan is suffering from weather changing situation.... So it is a vice decision to import wheat still
@ViewsReviews365 Brother Awam is getting the benefit 10 kg bag that is now Rs. 1000 in Ramdan it was around Rs. 1600.
@ViewsReviews365 I don't know about you but I saved Rs. 2000 this month from ata purchase....due to low ata price, roti price is also decreased to Rs.15 in my area
