I love doing control burning Thanks again for another awesome video I really enjoyed it and as always I'm really looking forward to seeing the next video
Glad you cleaned the bank off for me. Be down to go fishing in a couple of weeks lol I didn't even know you had a pond saw you guys fishing in the creek.
I've never done burns (18 acres), but I do mow often. This last year or so, my dad (87) had taken it on himself to be the mower. He doesn't like the tractor, so he uses the riding mower! It takes some time to get the whole property, but it cuts closer and it keeps him busy. I'm going to be really interested this spring to see what the weed count will be. I bet it's going to decrease.
You are so right on the Bermuda grass it just goes up like nothing lol. Yep good to know your laws, it varries from city to county but always a good idea we call the fire dept to let them know we are doing a control burn in advance so when the neighbors start calling at least they know okay it's all good. Never gets old watching you call the goats lol.
That would scare me. I think up here our controlled burn is a controlled freeze and it happens every winter to kill everything and start over. I don't hear about many people burning up here. Maybe DNR in some cases. Nice work and thanks for sharing.
By the way, I had my NRCS agent visit today. He said there's an outside chance we get funded this year, but he thinks we probably get funded next year. Really nice guy.
I would also recommend memberships in their local protection district. Many departments sell subsciptions for membership. That can save you lots of money if you ever have a wildland fire or structure fire on your place. Cheap insurance to have. Of course this is directed to rural folks. People that live in towns and cities are already covered. Also a good idea to giive your local department a heads up that you are doing a controlled burn. Contact info etc. Watch projected weather on the day you are doing it. Wind shifts etc. Be fire wise. Nice clip !!
im sure glad they did away with controlled burns down in the valley ... it used to be the grass seed farmers would burn every fall and the smoke would hang around here up in the cascades for weeks . so thick the eyes would water and we had to wear a mask ... im not opposed to control burns . just apposed to to many at the same time
Yeah I understand where you're coming from there. Smoke isn't really an issue around here too much. Most of the burns that folks do are contained to a a few acres at a time.
Need to look into a forest service / blm fire drip can "can't think of the name of it right now" but you will find it a lot saver. Oh and goat's milk, and I do love it.
It is about 15-18 ft deep in the front by the dam, in the back it's just flooded timber and only 2-4 ft. It's not creek or spring fed but it's never gone dry in since it was built over 20 years ago.
I love doing control burning

Yep, that's about all our FD asks for is a call ahead of time.

Thanks. All good advise. We don't really have a subscription or membership with our local fire departments here though.
What’s that in the background
Fire 🔥 fire.
That was a cool small fire tornado..
I thought so too!
We're going to have to call you the "goat whisperer". ;D

You are thinking of a drip torch. I've used them in the past and you are right it is much safer. I just haven't bought one yet.
Daniel....how deep is your pond? Spring or creek fed? or just rain runoff?

I'd like to know what factors are involved with a control burn
Drip torch metal rake something to create a fire break flapper and something with 3-5 gallons of water with you
@@maxhallman1036 thank you
I’m from broken bow you know where that is?
Every thing here is under water. My pastier is now a lake. Flooding every way.
how do you choose which areas to burn?
I burn the pond dam every year to keep the brush and trees off of it. Other areas are just on a rotation. Most areas get burned off every few years.
We're you located at
Southern Oklahoma.
The only thing I'd say for this, is wear some fire retardant clothes or nomex clothes while doing this.
YOU ALWAYS MAKE GOOD VIDEOS. WHY DID YOU ADD THE STUPID UNNECCSARY MUSIC.
Hahahahahahahahahahaha bella
FIRST!!! BWAHAAHAA!! Fire!
we are under a fire ban here...
