    I'm a stay at home mom and I've been struggling with depression on and off for years. Now, I've been making my bed and keeping my room clean and eating a high protein/high fat diet like Dr
    Peterson suggests in his book. I'm finding this small positive change has been slowly spreading to other parts of my life.
    I'm keeping up with my housework better. I'm being more disagreeable with my kids(aka setting boundaries). As I do these little things, i enjoy my kids better. I find more time to indulge in my own soul-feeding projects. I am so appreciative of his willingness to teach what he has learned to the rest of us.

      Robert Cubley I have seen a change! My kids are responding better to my "no" rather than having to tell them over and over again. They are following the rules more often than not. Ps. I am not a single mom, I'm married, i just do the mom thing full time. Luckily, my husband is good at boundaries and has been helping me by establishing them and I then have to stick to it. He is such a great dad.

      Awesome Cassie!
      I've been a stay at home mom/wife for 17/22 years. I've had spells of depression and Doc JBP does help!
      Every time I hear the stats about how his "fans" are mostly male, it makes me want to yell at woman, "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE MISSING".
      I actually bought tickets to his Dallas, TX show last night. I can't wait to sit in the audience with my 17yr old son.
      He'll be 18 in August and Doc's lecture is just one of the goals he's added to the list of a self improvement "quest" he's undertaking before his 1st adult birthday.
      Another item is 21 days, alone in the woods only eating (and drinking) from the land.
      I think both will be a profound experience for him.

    Jordan Peterson says many of the same things over and over again but his interviews are still fascinating, why is that.

      @Mercurio_volante 6 років тому +16

      I was wondering about the same. It's repetitive in a way, but then, there are still these wow-moments. Maybe it's also the way he puts things, so eloquent and articulate.

      MrM0B333 Plus 1 on what you said. When you're "unpacking" what Jordan Peterson says, each time you hear it, you understand it just a little bit better. There's a lot going on in what he's saying and it takes time for you to assimilate it.

      I'm an orchestra violonist and experienced that the more often you rehearse a symphony, the more layers you'll find - and the less boring it gets! That's the difference between shallowness and depth. And that makes JP so interesting.

    That part where they talked about hell being a motivator really struck me. If I sit too long hell catches up with me. The only cure is to clean my room really fast. I often equate hell to entropy. It is always tending towards lower states of order and we have to continually battle that, Constantly cleaning, maintaining, and repairing the order. Sometimes the entropy reveals a flimsy order that can be updated and improved. We can also control the entropy within a given order, harnessing its power. That could be the shadow. Hell is a really easy place to get to but hard to leave. You don't even have to look for it. If you stagnate long enough there it is and you didn't even have to move an inch.

    I live in London. Today I was out walking in the local park with my daughter. It was cold and lightly raining. Two men, local council employees, were busy picking up litter that others had thrown on the ground. I stood there, again amazed at this; that some freely throw garbage on the ground and others are paid, out of taxes agreed upon by the majority, to pick up that garbage. Every year, all year round, local council gardeners and tree surgeons prune and plant around the city so that it looks beautiful. Maybe it's only when you get old and have time to muse upon these things that they become wondrous.

      I agree. I visit London about once a year, and it's amazing how a town as large as that functions properly *and* is well maintained. Same here, in the (much smaller) town where I live. But sometimes it makes me sad, even angry, watching people so carelessly throwing their garbage in the first place.

    First, I find youtube to be a huge blessing in my life. It has connected us to people and perspectives from around the world. This podcast is a case in point.
    Second, this was a great podcast. Many recent interviews with Dr. Peterson focuses solely on his book. This interview referenced the book but also broke new ground.
    Finally, after watching a number of videos from people in Europe I am amazed at how well so many people in Europe speak multiple languages. As an American, I am woefully lacking in this skill. I've studied other languages but could never have a deep conversation. I learned just enough to appreciate how difficult it is to talk about abstract ideals in a second language.

      Andy Yonas Yeah I wonder too. I think it is a combination of not listening and building up strawmen. People who criticize actual quotes or statements of him are rare, most just spread this "far right/transphobe/misogynist/racist" fictional picture of him, without ever have listened to a full podcast or lecture of him.

    Transcendental Goalsetting! That's the perfect name for it. Finding purpose through feeling the neurotransmitter benefits of living as if the were a transcendental realm (with it's ethical/moral values). Because whether there actually is one or not, life is objectively better in every measurable way when the most people possible in a given area live with TGS applied to it.

    Interesting to see the affirmation of the moral and transcendent at the core of being and value. Aristotle, Aquinas and the Scholastic philosophers show in their metaphysics the necessary existence of the transcendent core.. Being. in which we participate. Comment at 10:35 the obligation of people to put the opportunities that society have given you to good use. I was shocked when living in France for 8 years that graduates, given a free education and privileges over normal working people, wanted nothing more than a simple job in the post office because it was a job for life. What moral cowards. 1) it takes good work away from those less privileged or capable 2) It builds nothing in society that can benefit those less fortunate or privileged. If society invests in you the you should pay it back by at least striving to achieve more than the average Joe.

    • @Iain1962
      @Iain1962 6 років тому

      I lived a long time in France I can explain why that is a little bit. If you are a fonctionnaire (work for the state) you cannot be sacked, literally. This is a tremendous advantage in France if you want to say buy a house. Banks will not lend to you unless you have a fixed job.
      I agree with what you say by the way on a moral level but people are thinking of their families and their security not of the greater good, plus the average French person is quite risk averse, they prefer the tried and tested over the unknown and risky.

      You don't deserve hell, no one does but anyone can see it if they look, or even visit the place (perhaps that's what Nietzsche had in mind when he spoke of looking into the abyss). It's like, hell!, it's real; Right, but take that as an example of what to avoid becoming ensconced in, and also, what and where order is lacking. Seeing hell, that's a sign post.

      Sign up for Jordan Peterson's Future Authoring programme. It's really cheap and it really will help you. Don't hesitate. Begin it now. “Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” Attributed to Goethe but who cares, it makes the point beautifully. And talk to people here and in other youtube threads. People are so kind when you speak the truth. i have discovered a whole new family on these threads, thousands of them. It's wonderful. Good luck and best wishes.

    • @georgejarmanprice4492

      The sad truth can be that most people dont really care if you're in hell and many are too afraid to help because they fear being pulled under with you. As if you were drowning. Once you realise that no one is going to help you climb out and that you have to bear this burden alone that you find the strength to get on your feet and fight for your shitty life cause thats all any of us have! I dont mean to sound harsh but I wasted so much of my life thinking that I deseved to be in hell and hate to think you are doing the same thing.

    At 2:28 you mention Jordan was on Tim Ferriss' podcast...when was he Tim's show? Or will he be? Would love to listen to that!

    • @Eindbazenpodcast
      @Eindbazenpodcast  6 років тому

      You know what? I might have been wrong about that! It's just that mr Peterson was in every major podcast I listen to, so I just assumed he had been at Tim's podcast as well! Sorry for the mix up!

      You may have been thinking of Joe Rogan's podcast. In my opinion, a much higher quality (and less product shilling) podcast than Tim's. Tim is still awesome, Joe Rogan's is just *_that good._** .*

      We only started podcasting because of Mr. Rogan. So we agree completely! He is our final boss of the internet. Interviewing him someday is the end game. ^^

    Hi really enjoyed this interview, would love to hear more about how we are driven to gain more knowledge and transform the game and also could you explain the point about the rate at which helium converts to another element is associated with our being here, what did you mean. Thank you so much have learned a great deal, you are a great interviewer have subscribed to your channel.

    • @Eindbazenpodcast
      @Eindbazenpodcast  6 років тому

      I am drawing from memory here, but I think it boils down to If helium would be configured only slightly different (or less was released during the big bang) it would not be able to form into elements like carbon and magnesium which are needed for iron, which in turn enabled stars to form. Stars, in turn, are pretty crucial in the formation of life. I heard a scientist wonder about the improbability of a Universe being configured in such a manner on try 1. Dr. Jordan B Peterson should run for office. Canada Is in dire need of common sense in Ottawa. I was once happy when we got rid P Trudeau then Mulroney and so on up to Harper. Junior Trudeau is the worst yet. We really need someone who wont leave a bad taste when they get in.
