Being able to watch a video and take notes on the same monitor is just so nice for studying. Or if I am following instructions in a browser window I don't need to copy something, move a window and then paste it everything is just right there for me. Might not be multitasking but space makes the one task a lot more comfortable for sure.
They don't really make you more productive, but the screen real estate is insanely convenient for software engineers for example. On my Samsung neo g9, I can open 6 terminals side by side and which gives me a lot more flexibility when looking through a project.
@@NickKendall it does make me more productive if it allows me to have combinations of two applications opened and visible enough to be comfortable to work on each without constantly maximizing and minimizing. Combos of 2 between email, browser, excell, photoshop, illustrator, code editor, image viewer, etc... also even opening notepad and leave it visible for a while can save me time. That's productivity to me :) Note: I use a pen tablet monitor for Photoshop (or drawing apps), and having the possibility of combos of 2 other apps on the other monitor really helps, if not to save time, at least for the convenience.
Downside is that most videos, tv shows and anime are set to 16:9 and since that's my main consumption + games I think sticking to a 16:9 is best for me. 32 inch monitor is my choice
*I had an ultra wide monitor, but I ended up selling it. After gaming on it for a few weeks, my eyes evolved to handle the turning my head left, then right, then left, etc. My eyes looked like Steve Bushimi's. So, I am done. I went back to normal gaming. (16:9 ratio).*
This is a great video, and applies well for people who work with excel/PDFs on a daily basis. They're tremendously helpful for quick comparisons between two excel workbooks, not quite multitasking but very helpful. For gaming, ultrawide shines best with 3rd person games like RDR2, Uncharted 4, and racing/other 3rd person shooters.
Thanks! Yeah I could definitely imagine how helpful it would be with spreadsheets. Yes! I've also been playing a bit of Subnautica recently and it's so good with the ultrawide!
i have a 34" uw, and a 27". The 27 is wall mounted on an arm above my 34", that's the best for me at least. I can still watch youtube or netflix while gaming and dont have to use up any space on the 34".
@@ricocontreras5235 Yeah i just uploaded a Picture on my Channel, you can check it out. Because of the perspective the Display on top looks bigger then it is, the Ultrawide is the same hight as the 27" above.
i have a 27inch 180hz 1440p LG monitor with another 27inch directly above that one, and a vertical monitor on the left of those two (All 1440p) and that is my main rig for when i’m playing with friends or shooters that don’t quite work great on an UW. then on the desk to the right of that setup, is my AW3423dwf with a 27inch 1440p monitor above that and that’s for my solo games or games that work well with my ultrawide so i can still watch youtube. Love my setup
I just set up my 1st widescreen monitor yesterday. It's just a budget 34" Sceptre but the picture is really nice. Bought it mainly to watch widescreen movies on.
You said you don't think is more productive but for me its gonna save a lot of time, i can code and run the hardware simulation at the same time on multiple tabs without minimizing each tab thats a good thing. it save a lot of time for software developers because the screen space is really a matter like referring multiple pages on different books at the same time without closing and reopening it
On a single laptop display it's incredibly cramped trying to get anything done is a real chore having to constantly switch windows and desktops.. so yeah that last con point is kinda off imho.
No problem! Depends on what you’re using it for I think! If I had money to burn I’d probably get a 49in but I don’t think it’s necessary. I’m really happy with the 38in when I factor in the price. I didn’t want to spend more than $1,500 and the big 49in monitors start at like $2k
Excellent presentation of the pros and cons. Also, a very balanced evaluation of these pros and cons. Overall, linguistically very good to understand. Thank you for this great work!
Once you go ultra wide you can't go back. I can't anyway. Curved screen takes some time getting used to, straight lines aren' t 'straight', but that's no issue for me, could be depending on what you're doing. If it takes too much space, get a 3rd party stand that clamps at the back of your desk. There are loads around. So great, I'm getting another one for my backup pc.
@@NickKendall I am asking for graphic design and editing videos, some of my friends they said for graphic design isn't good because at the curved part you can't see sometimes things clearly like you can fail on design.
go flat. curved monitors are specifically only there for gamin, other than that it sucks in everything else for general pc use. Flat is way better at all things.
hi man sorry for taking your time but i had couple of questions about ultra wides since i was considering buying one. 1- does a 3440*1440 monitor supports 2560*1440p and 2560*1080 without issues (since i may wanna play games that may be demanding) 2- which one would you buy a 32 inch 2560*1440p or a 34 inch 3440*1440 for basically the same price for gaming purposes 3- if i decide to play on 2560*1080 (Ultra wide FHD instead of Ultra wide 1440p) would it be noticeably blurry or ugly ?
One problem some people point out about ultrawide high res monitors like the beautiful LG 40WP95C-W is that at native resolution everything looks too small... and if you scale the scaling on MacOS sucks...would you confirm that or not?
I've had no issues with scaling at all on this monitor :) I have it scaled down to more space (the smallest it can go) and it looks great! Hope that helps!

Great video mate thanks! I’d only use the monitor for excel type work, is UW worth it for the novelty?
No worries Charles! I've heard from other people who use excel on regular basis that it's really helpful. So could be worth it if you work with them a lot! :)
@@NickKendall Thanks mate I think that's made up my mind! Hope your channel keeps doing well, great content
Video editing, graphic editing is considered productivity. So it is or it is not. One thing for pros n same for cons . 😮
Great review..
Thanks! 😊
Nice video
Thanks! :)

Hello, Congratulations Cool 👍👏👏👏
Thank you 👍
These are kinda annoying. You have to download a software to even be able to use the split screen in the first place so if your company is strict on what you can download it’s basically pointless
Windows has screen snapping built-in
Dude why did you not talk about Picture in Picture mode and picture by picture side you don’t need two monitors ya call your self a monitor reviewer I like my because I can use my ps5 and pc at the same time
I think you can just buy ultrabig 16:9 monitor and be alright. By the way I watch this video on ultrawide smartphone screen (Xperia 5)
Pixel density
Is that, like, a 'crushed' shirt?
😅 Yep, looks like I forgot to iron it...
