Plot hole? The entire episode is about a plague.
Kirk: "Under no circumstances do I want anyone to beam down from the ship. We can't take any chances with further contamination."
Actually, Floyd had a barbershop, not a drugstore..
Good catch! I meant to say "Walker's" drugstore...... But had Floyd stuck on my mind after looking at photos of it in City on the Edge of Forever. lol.
@@TREK-WORLD Vulcan mind wipe? 😂
Is it just me or does anyone else think that (at 4:06) the ensign sitting at the communications station looks like he has a Q-tip hanging out of his ear. 🤣
Short, sweet & informative.🖖🏼
You almost had me with GLW's sons, I forgot about the different surnames! 😂
Me too! I had a devil of a time finding their legal names. And I couldn’t even spot them in the episode when watching it. But I finally found them and that snapshot on the internet. Jim Sent from my iPad
3:26 C`mon its clear whats going on: The security man holds the camera
Different episode but before I forget in the episode "is there is truth no beauty?" In the beginning of the episode when the ambassador is beamed aboard Kirk & company had to leave the transporter room so they won't go insane and Spock put on his visor but at the end of the episode Kirk is standing right there while Spock put on his visor to beam the ambassador off the ship no problem 🤷♂️ I just noticed that after all these years when I watched it on TV the other night 😆
I always wondered about that myself.
I also wondered why everyone couldn't just turn around and face away from the transporter pad instead of having to leave the room.
@@Estes705 good point they could have just turned around 👍
@@scifiguy26 It's probably been 20 years since I've seen that episode, so I must admit there may have been a quick mention, that I missed, as to why they actually had to leave the room.
@@Estes705 yes they said that the ambassador is so ugly that a human would go insane just by looking at him (but of course to us he just looks like flashing lights😆) that's why they made the humans leave the transporter room
Grace Lee Whitney.. had a crush on her big time.. still get the butterflies 50 years later... ❤
Rest In Peace Grace Lee Whitney.
When Kirk answers the communicator which does not beep, I think we are seeing for the first time ever the "vibrate" function we now all have on our smartphones. As to the overly flippy communicator antenna, obviously this is a Captain's Model communicator which had some special features not available on other communicators such as a lifetime paid subscription to Spotify, access to various Top Secret Starfleet audiobooks, and all of Spock's weekly shipboard podcasts reviewing recent episodes of "The Orville".
I'm surprised you didn't mention the problem that Jahn is only seen scooping up FIVE communicators, meaning there still ought to be one left given a a six-person landing party. I guess we have to assume that he grabbed the sixth one after the camera cut away, but then that means that the guards who were outside on patrol weren't carrying any communicators with them, which is silly.
On the question of why the Enterprise didn't send down more people, Farrell at one point offered exactly that and Kirk replied with an order that no one else from the ship was to beam down under any circumstances. It probably drove the crew crazy after they lost contact but they obeyed the order.
Scotty could have beamed down 10 dozen communicators. The landing party would have managed to get ahold of one or two.
I also really didn't think about it at the time; but the transmitter that brought them there was also doen on the planet with them. So they could have used that as well to make contact. It's almost like they didn't want to make the effort.
@@rdhunkinsTrue enough. And since the ship's sensors could pinpoint their life signs, they could have beamed a bunch right into the room with them so that they couldn't be missed. Guess we have to chalk it up to the same (il)logic that stopped the crew from sending down a shuttle in The Enemy Within.
I'm surprised you didn't notice the close-ups of the first "creature" as everybody knelt by him after his death. He's clearly breathing in and out. Maybe this race of beings continues to inhale and exhale after death, but....?
Yup. Also. The only Kirk shot continued to breath also. But I suspected he may have been set to stun, so I left that one out. I think I just missed this one.
There was no drugstore, that's a hotel. Floyd was the barber and his shop was next to the courthouse.
I meant to say "Walker's" drugstore...... But had Floyd stuck on my mind after looking at photos of it in City on the Edge of Forever. lol.
..haha!..there's a few holes in almost every episode as such...i got a screen shot of Kirk and Edith walking by Floyds Barber Shop in Mayberry in episode 28 season 1 in "City on the Edge of Forever.".nice job and live long an prosper...
Kirk and Edith walked down the sidewalk of the interior copy of the exterior.
Hi Greg! Yup! I was also looking at that that photo recently and that's why I messed up the drugstore reference. It was "Walker's Drugstore" not "Floyd's Drugstore". Oops!
Leslie is Bill Shatner's daughter indeed. 1:09
5:55 Scott could have beamed down some communicators... Oh well. They could have used shuttlecraft in The enemy within.
Bonk! Bonk! ... Bonk! Bonk!
No! No kids! No Bonk! Bonk! Bla! Bla! Bla!
Yea question if you lose contact with the cp wpuld you not beam down a comunicator for him to use?
That was cute. Loved it!
\
And shouldn't the other security guards had their communicators when they went missing?
Yes. The two guards were on patrol when they were stolen. So there really were more communicators available to Kirk and team.As well as they could have used that transmitter that they responded to in the first place. Sent from my iPad
I always liked "Miri".
I like "Miri" but at some point I had "gone off" Kim Darby after her role in the Western with John Wayne,
(was it 'True Grit'?) after she 'rode 'Blackie' into the ground' acting or no, it always made me think of that scene whenever I saw Kim in _any_ other part after that ...and of course that's totally unfair, as it was 'just acting' in a Western, but so many stories were uncovered later about cruelty to horses in films, that it just always stayed with me as a really upsetting scene... 🐴💔😔🏴🤔🇬🇧🖖
No blah blah blah!!
🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
Michael J. Pollard*... Who was also* in the film "Hannibal Brookes" starring the sadly now late British actor _Oliver_Reed_...(The latter being _amazingly_ a 'doppelganger' for my Renal Consultant !!)
He was 29 at the time they filmed this episode. But I think they did a great job of making him look like an older teenager.
Didn't care much for this episode... Too am dram?
Man, to take the time to notice all these things in an episode of Star Trek you must really not have a life or a very limited one.
Guilty on all charges!
I'm glad he noticed them I've been watching Star Trek for years and didn't catch any of those 🖖
It makes for a interesting video.
