Don't know why I didn't watch all these when you posted them. I am finally catching up on all these "Staff Favorite Moments" posts. To Dave, Barbara, Mary and the Pants team, these are fantastic. Congrats. I remember a majority of these clips, but this concept of highlights with back stories is just perfect. Probably better than posting old episodes. Love the extra context which sometimes makes these segments even funnier. Keep it up-and thank you.
I don't think this one had an ending. I love the way it finished (I'm laughing, it was funny) but that last sentence never ended. God Bless Barbara and Bill and Jim and Don and Dave and Chris and Merrill and Gerard! Merry Christmas, all of us!
The last sentence, which I eventually got to when Barbara and I stopped giggling, was "I just wanted to get that stare from him. I had made him laugh enough. When I said something that he knew was funny but couldn't laugh at, he would just stare at me. That was my goal...."
Hey Dave and Late Night. I thought I’d seen every bit on every episode! But there’s always something I missed. Seeing these now, is one of the best things in Media World there is to watch. These are great! I look forward to the next and next and next… Thanks!
This was excellent. It's wonderful to hear from the writers who took up the tremendous challenge to slake our burning thirst for humour using only the pungent and oft-times florid sweat born of their toil. Cheers.
@@GPSjammer Oh the prose is intentionally purple but those are hardly thesauran words. If I were deep into the thesaurus I would have found more lurid words to replace things like "excellent, wonderful, hear, writers, tremendous, challenge, toil" etc. you get the point. Cheers bud.
@@dongiller Thank you so much Walter too for making this channel great 🙏🙏 I was laughing so much on the vomit bit as I just finish Gaines favorite moment 😂😅🤣
Bill will forever be impressed on my memory for goading Letterman to try and play an Eagles song on the air, potentially costing the show hundreds of thousands of dollars in licensing fees 🤣 great moment in the later years.
Bills’ the best loved seeing him on set in the sports jacket with a rolled up show program in the jacket pocket..! Thanx for the laughs Mr Scheft! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Sorry I hit send too soon haha. My name is Rick I was one of your satellite uplink engineers when you're in San Francisco in the 90s, I also worked on all the Manny the hippie remotes after you went back to New York. Do you think you guys could show some video from that week and also from the Manny the hippie segments, thanks! You still Rock Dave!
First, Mr Scheft, thanks. Second, right there with you on the de-raisining of the oatmeal-raisin cookie. Personally, I would *also* remove the oatmeal, but that's just me.
Somewhere, I still have a VHS tape with the “Where the hell is Paul?” when Dave found him at Roseland jamming with Bob Dylan and his band. October ‘94.
Bill is clearly a funny, likable guy and I was a regular viewer until the last show. Still, regarding the later CBS years, so much of the comedy outside of the monologue seemed to be ‘gratuitous, marginally funny running gags.’ Alternately, author Bill Carter called it thin gruel.
@@billscheftyoutube I didn't know that you were responsible for the oil dip stick bit but I've always remembered it and thought it was absolutely hilarious. My reaction would have been far different than the tow truck driver. He must have seen a lot of weird behavior and become jaded. Thanks for the grememoryat memory.
I loved the shows more than anyone can love anything. These staff moments I love just as much. They make my day.

That contained a totally unexpected heart warming moment.
I just finished watching the video 10 seconds ago and now I'm going to have to go back and re-watch to remember what that heart warming moment was! 😂
16:20🤣 Sounds like she had been wanting to say this for a long time. I miss watching this show every night. Thanks Don.
Walter’s name has a funny spelling here.

OMG, “I’m being told he’s ok.” I am dying.
The blue card note incident killed me.

Loved every second of this, thanks!
Loved Joe Grossmans acting on the show. Need a video from him on the channel.
More staff favorite moments 🤩 Thanks Don
You’re welcome? I’d love to take credit, but this, and everything else shared on this channel, is all Walter.

I love these retrospectives. These are really treasures
Great show. Once got a speeding ticket racing home to catch the open.
So did Dave😊

Bill, you made my life happier by going to work every day. So I thank you!

I have no idea why, but that cookie bit was amazing
He's just so deliberate and dedicated
"PAUL!" with theme music courtesy of R.E.M. Nice!!!

There is no need for raisins to coexist with oatmeal. Let alone in a cookie! I would Scheft raisins out of my oatmeal cookie too. Any day.

I have a few VHS tapes at my mom's place. No longer have a VCR to play them on though so have no idea what's on them!!
Thanks for the good times
the "i will not be berated this way" bit is hilarious
i got a chuckle from that
11:00"get a bucket, Dave!!"
These videos are great 👍
good times
These Staff Favorites are so funny.
Good stuff, Maynard
Guy just looks like a comedy writer.
15:16 It is close, but I think Tom Malone's ATM joke may have it beat.
Thanks Bill,, incredibly cool,,,
For a second I could have sworn he was Mr. Lippmann from Seinfeld.
Hi Dave, Love You!
Oh I forgot to tell you that when Manny went to see a movie for the show, don't know what movie it was, he hit on my fiance, it made me laugh
We've certainly learned a valuable lesson today.
Bill Scheft loves oatmeal... But hates raisins. Or vice versa.
Is this Richard Fancy aka Mr. Lippman aka Elaine’s boss on Seinfeld? 😅
What exactly is going on with that cookie? Are you picking raisins out?
I take it he doesn't like raisins in his cookies?
I felt like I was at the zoo watching a monkey pick "whatever" off of his buddy and nibble on it.
Dude looks like he just stepped out of the Ed Sullivan theater.
I forgot to plug it in lol.
was bill the one tony mendez got fired over?
We don't have a clue but we don't have a Quayle. Wow. Late shows hitting both sides. Remember those days?
Well, that was before one side went full fascist.

NBC Dave was funnier.
And…we are off to a hilarious start. 🙄🙄🙄
I think Joe Grossman should've taken over the Late Show.
👍
WTF was he taking out of the cookie?

Bill is wonderful on the Carson podcast
Sure likes to talk about himself.
Well, if I won't talk about me, who will?
