Still binging on your older videos. Honestly, your advice is amazing. In the short time I’ve followed you, I’ve learned so much from your videos. I have set up Every Dollar on my phone, switching from pen and paper. Like everything else, there is a slight learning curve, but it is quite straight forward. I’m excited to have my budget in hand all the time. Extremely grateful!
I make a list before we go to store. If it's not on a list, we don't buy it. Takes some discipline to get used to it. I see a lot of people are using your strategy as well. Whatever works, right?! :)
We start a Walmart grocery list on the app. We buy groceries when we get paid every other week. These days we have them delivered. We spend no money on gas for pickup! Not on the list…wait until next time. We also have a pretty extensive pantry to draw on.
@@mscentsibly1953 I do the same thing! Walmart delivery evey two weeks. I am disabled so going out to shop isn't an option for me. I like shopping in the app because you easily see how your total accumulates and you can adjust your cart accordingly to stay on budget.
After listening to Dr. David Jeremiah talk about tithing and trusting God, I realized I skipped a VERY important part of my journey to more frugal living, and that IS tithing first. Treating it like it's a bill that HAS to be paid. No exceptions. I was nervous this wouldn't work, but praying for God to help me to trust Him and to have a generous heart and be a good and faithful steward with what He has allowed me to have, this past year I have given FAR more than ever, yet I have Paid off FAR more debt than ever, and still live quite comfortably. We have always been "paycheck-to-paycheck." The math doesn't make sense, but the impossible IS possible with God. I just wish I would have started sooner. Also, I just have to admit that I am not the most frugal person (but still working on). Further adding to the case that it doesn't seem to make sense how my finances work...but God!
Yes we too give our tithe All we have is from God and he gives us the ability to make money We have never gone without God says he will supply our needs and that is the truth
Frugality is one of the recommended ways to leverage our financial status. It may be hard in the beginning, but it will always pay off as soon as we have come to realize we're slowly getting our goals closer to our reach.
With the increasing prices on groceries my new mindset for February is to go grocery shopping at one store, one time per week and only purchase what is on my list (no browsing or taking my time looking for additional items). In doing this I almost have to act like an instacart shopper when shopping for customers. No purchasing items that the customer did not request.
Kate, January being my "low spend month," believe it or not, I was able to cut my total spending nearly in half. I added up my expenditures for January and realized I am way under budget; although, there are still four day left this month.
My frugal routine is bundle shopping one day a week which includes: grocery shopping, mailing items, going to the various stores for items needed in and around the house, the pharmacy and/or make visits to family and friends. Of course, these trips are not always done every week but making a plan where I need to go during my shopping day has reduced my stress. The only day I don't look at my budget and all that goes with it is Sunday. Body, soul and mind need a complete rest from the everyday routine.
Automatic savings has been one of the best things I have done over the years. I love that you are aiming to pay off your mortgage early. When we bought our house in 1998 we made the 2 best decisions of our marriage: 1. Bought a house that cost much less than we could ‘afford’ (according to the mortgage company). We just didn’t feel comfortable buying at the top of our budget. 2. This allowed us to get a 15 year mortgage which was very important to us We payed the house off in 10 years!! You go Kate! You’re doing the best thing you can do for your financial security.
@@KateKaden Yes! We were disciplined about it. I can’t say I’m so disciplined when it comes to other things. I spend too much on frivolous things thanks to Amazon. But I’m working on it and get inspiration and motivation from your channel.
Kate - always love your videos. I made a grocery master list which I have in a plastic sleeve So I circle ⭕️ All the stuff - with an erasable marker- in each category that I need - take a pic with my phone then boom 💥 I don’t need to think about what I need - the master list is my guide and all I have to do is check per item if I need more
Shopping one time a week is a life changer! We save so much money because of that! Also, meal planning and budget how much money we want to spend on food helps a lot.
I’m continuing no spend January into no spend February. Things are really tight right now and there is no extra money other than for the essentials. I’m also using order online for groceries, as I feel that I don’t spend as much. Staying out of Walmart and other stores also, trying to work as many extra hours as possible at the part time job.
my frugal ritual is to take all my budgeting stuff and go down to my local coffee shop. I sip on tea or hot coco and get down to business. I find I'm less distracted, make better decisions and in general feel good about it all.
I’ve kept a few dollars aside in the food budget for stocking up on items on sale or clearance items that I use- my two stores have “in store” only sale/ clearance. I keep about $25 for this in a month.
MARY JO! My fellow New Englander! I just got the surprise in the mail from you and I could not be more grateful! Thank you so so much! For some reason when a KSquad member sends me something so selfless and generous, I tear up because I know we are all working towards our financial goals and when you think of me and gift me such a wonderful gift, I am SO moved and SO appreciative! THANK YOU Mary Jo. I can't wait to put it to good use! You made my day! Sincerely, Kate
@@KateKaden You have deeply inspired me to take charge and have fun with budgeting. Stay warm!! The storm hitting me right now is heading your way! 😉❄️❄️🥶
My frugal ritual is a sell to buy clothing. I sell all my unwanted clothes on eBay Vinted and Depop. Rule1- I can only buy clothing using the funds from my sales. Rule 2- Audit my clothing at the beginning of the year to see what needs to be replaced and a few missing items I want to add to stop wardrobe boredom. I keep this to 12 items. Rule 3- Buy secondhand from charity shops, eBay, Vinted, or Depop first if available. Because I have my list of things I can buy, I know to look out for them. Only buy new if there is no other option. Rule 4- What if more items wear out during the year than what is on my list? I shop my wardrobe to see if there is something that is suitable that I’m not wearing. If none and it is something I can’t live without then I replace it. Rule 5- Have FUN with my wardrobe. I create mini capsules with what I have and play dress up to see how many combos I can make. Wear my most favourite combos.
Life was much simpler when i did paychecks and bills 1 day a month. Groceries and arrands once every 2 weeks. Yardwork. 2 hrs once a week. Set house chore times.
I get paid once a month, so I budget out before 1st of month fore entire month and make payments 1st, even if not due till 15th or 20th. I dont use credit cards and 1s I had have no balance House n car paid off and that's 1 of things I budget for in case I need another car. When I paid off house, I tried to pay extra $5 or more a month TOWARDS PRICIPLE to pay off early Cut out soft drinks mostly and drink water Dont drink or smoke Budget, have emergency fund debt paid off, have fully funded emergency fund (10 months), no kids and currently no pets, pay insurance every 6 months, trying to get into meal prep/planning, do small savings challenges (do 100 envelopes for 1st time), I got raise 1st of year of $48 dollars a month so round to $50 to put towards savings, microwave went out in june but, though had savings, I put money aside till December to replace, try to be a recluse to not spend excessively
After the house now I'm saving Toby a newer car as my car is 17 !!! My fave frugal tip is to get my savings into other account by direct debit and just try to live on the rest and forget the savings..
TGIF -- Jungle Book😀 no food waste. We are consuming all food purchased. I'm doing great not overspending on groceries. Making a list & leaving hubby home is the best.
Organization is key, know what you use and need. I think it's a great idea to always re-evaluate what you're spending any money on. People are so used to just waste spending they don't even realize how much of there income is wasted. Like, buying coffee or food out, not just maybe lunches, but snacks. I had my husband start to track his extra coffees and snacks and it really woke him up. We bought a coffee machine for his office and what he likes to have and that helped a lot. Then we fixed lunches and snacks for the next day out and that stopped the extra $10.00 a day coffee and snacks. I don't understand how people eat out daily for lunches. It costs almost the same amount to eat for the whole month for one person as it does to eat a lunch out daily.
I agree with you on this! Tracking our spending activities is one of the many ways we can control ourselves from spending too much. But this only works for a few of us, as some may need a serious willfulness on their part of an effective financial journey.
We grocery shop for our large family 2x a month. I have grocery list templates based on our weekly meals that I print off and cross out anything we still have plenty of before leaving our house. It really simplifies things with how much we have to buy to feed our family. We have been just sticking to needs, so that covers our shopping for the month, minus a few supplement purchases on s&s.
I try to know what’s in the freezer for meals. Want to use up the old first before the new. Roommates help keep costs down by sharing expenses. Working toward minimalism and decluttering. Not every meal has to have meat. Cook at home.
I buy staples in bulk. Overall it saves money and less trips to the store. I order my staples online and stick to the list. I like the idea of a no spend Day each week.
I keep a journal and write down all spending every day, (noting no spending days) in it I also make notes about what’s for dinner. We are eating from stock this month. No spend January will continue into frugal February.
Bring bring over for lunch at work EVERYDAY! save me so much $. Only groceries shop once a week and sticking with the allotted budget. Only going out to eat 1 or 2 times per month and finding where my little one will eat for free.
One way I save time is by speeding up all the UA-cam videos I watch from normal speed to 1.5 times fast. For some of the slow talkers, I actually spend it up to 2 times the speed. I can watch a lot more money saving tips that way. 🥰🥰
Tracking my spending, automate savings, grocery shop every two to three weeks. Tracking spending has really helped me know where everything is going and let me know annual spending to save for my emergency fund.
Thar song says it all Kate, and it's so true! We scrimped, used it up, wore it out, etc and we were able to pay off house long before retirement. That's such a great feeling! This is my favorite video of all the ones I've viewed so far; thank you.
Analyzing my monthly spendings helped me a lot. I write down every penny I spend with pen and paper. This simple budget book method changed my money behaviour tremendously. PS: I do the grocery shopping on Monday and Friday. My family and I are like hungry wolves and eat everthing up so fast.
I check my accounts every morning. I also added Ibotta to my grocery shopping routine. I scan coupons before shopping and scan receipts for cash when I get home. I already made $40.00 extra dollars in a month.
We started to grocery shop every other week. My bf works shifts during a week so during that time I set myself a goal to not go grocery shopping. The exception I make is if I don’t have anymore milk or creamer for my coffee! But other than that I can always find a way to go around with what I have left in the cupboard! And I also try to take a few minutes to check my bank account.
Happy frugal Friday Kate & Buns! I love the bare necessities song & Baloo of course 🥰🎶 My favourite frugal behaviour is trying to shop on as low a budget as possible by buying loss leaders, looking for the markdowns and checking the unit price. By treating it as a challenge it makes food shopping that bit more enjoyable 😉
Hi, Kate! Every month for years I’ve found it impossible to stick to my monthly grocery and out to eat budgets. This year I broke down these two categories into weekly budgets instead of monthly. I’m finding it is easier to stick to the weekly budget (which is just the monthly budget split I to the 4 weeks) than trying to keep on track all month. Thanks for your your content! I so enjoy it!!
1. Walmart grocery pick up once every 2 weeks works for me. Keeps me out of the store and prevents impulse buying. 2. Every payday without fail I transfer a set amount to a general account, a sinking fund, an emergency fund and a car fund.
I'm with Buns on the budget thing! I have never liked or really understood them. Or why. I just pay my bills and save the rest, unless its tithes , or when I go buy the cat food & litter. But I don't do that at a grocery store. I go to Tractor Supply for it. In and out in 5 min w only what I went for! Also, I NEVER go inside at a gas station. I get gas and leave. End of story! I am so tight fisted and I have come to like it that way! I bet I haven't spent $100 in the last year on groceries bc I dumpster dive and God provides all of my needs! I say something out loud and either the universe or God leads me to the dumpster for it within about 2 days. I love it so much! Helps my "budget" out a lot.
Bunns is making sure you remember his food on your list, when you grocery shop once a week :-). I have shopped once a week for years. Now there are not enough cashiers and long lines at the store - once a week is best.
Writing down all my purchases. It makes me accountable. I use a free app on my phone. Thank you for your continued videos, you have helped me get through a rough few years financially. Now building a great future for myself and my babies x
Hi, I hope you don't mind me adding a little on this - investing. I hope you can allocate a small amount for investing too - for the future of your babies. Wishing you all the best :)
I really struggled with the no spend challenge. I have never tried it before and it was very eye opening for me. I like the idea of a one day a week ‘spend day’. I will try that in February. Thank you for helping me learn and grow as I aim to change my spending habits. Happy Friday!
Sage, I'm so glad you had some eye opening aha moments. I'm so so glad you are here!!! YESSS your February is going to be awesome. Hope you have a great weekend! So much more to come!
The good thing is that you have done it and realized a lot from it. Continue on your journey for improvement and I hope you can share your thoughts often so as to inspire a lot of people from here.
Hi Kate, k-squad Karen here. I did my first every dollar budget this month and check it daily. Also I moved my savings to another bank (on line) to get the best interest AND keep it out of my daily view. Finally I have established a few financial goals. It feels good! Thanks for the motivation.
I have started giving each of my older children $250 per month to spend on groceries- that is all they get for groceries and eating out - it makes them really learn what food costs and how to eat healthier 😉 I am doing the same thing too - I really learned the bai coconut drinks which I love cost too much so they are a treat to me now and I switched to Mio water drops - have a good day !
One of my favorite frugal ideas is to shop at thrift stores. There can be some really great finds from clothing to housewares. This past week one of our great finds was a Master Chef toaster oven for $10.00. :)
I am happy to see you, too. I was looking for your next video. Here it IS! Got the taxes filed! Hey, hey! I have cut my Feb. House/food budget to $160. Like you, I stick to the shopping list. That would be new spending, I have a small pantry that is well-filled. I am going to try to only grocery shop again on 2/15. I did the 2/1-2/14 shopping run today. * Efficiency is such a good goal! I will work on improving. Thanks for the reminder. I do feel good when I make my goals. * Today I am baking chicken thighs for the 1/2 half of the month, and making green curry chicken veggie soup (8 servings), and chopping and freezing green onions. Tip: You can just put cilantro directly into the freezer in its original package - it holds well for 2 months and works great in recipes (not salads). Today, with the rise in cost of Dawn dish detergent (my preferred brand), I put 1/4 cup into a spray bottle, and filled the bottle with water for hand washing dishes. This was someone else's idea, but I think it is awesome, and will save me some real money. * Best wishes to you, Lady Kate and the beloved son, Kaden the Magnificent. Have a wonderful February.
Already filed your taxes?!?! What the?!?! I haven't even gotten half my paperwork back yet from W2's etc. YOU ARE ON IT BRI!!!! Oooh I loved reading everything in this comment. Thank you so much for sharing with us Bri. Kaden says hi!
I've been in the habit of checking my cash and investment balances daily for quite a while now. Seeing my portfolio shrink this month has been painful 😢. But yesterday I was scrolling through the pictures on my phone and stumbled across some Vanguard account screen shots from the past, and I realized what huge growth there's been! So of course we have to pay the price of those incredible gains sometimes. Thanks for your encouraging and entertaining content! No spend January is almost done and I've hung in there. Should be able to add an extra $500-$600 to my emergency/retirement savings.🙂
OOOOH MY FRIEND! Yes this month has been painful! I am optimistic we will bounce back! Thank you so much for sharing with us. And so glad there has been so much growth!!!! So proud of you for rounding the corner of No Spend! We are almost to the finish line! OOOH!!! $500-600!!! YASSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!
Check freezer, fridge, and pantry Check your calendar: when do you need easy meals? When are you eating out? Don't plan and buy groceries for 7 days when you know you'll cook no more than 5 nights. Menu plan-- using above info do a menu plan. Use grocery pick-up or delivery. BTW, you can probably do 2-5 weeks of menu plans with corresponding grocery lists and rotate the plans. Also, I struggle with chronic illness. My hubby can tell when he walks in the door, if he's on his own for dinner. I try to keep plenty of eggs, soup, leftovers. If you have kids, also teach them to make 3 or 4 meals. That can help when mom or dad can't do it on their own. Plus they'll have a few meals they can do when they're out on their on.
I have $15 dollar’d my food budget to death this month! I am working on getting the grocery budget down, CRAZY what I spend for 2! I have managed to get my food budget down by $100 this month, and I have $44 left, but by Sunday, I will have used that. Groceries are high here in Western New York! I SHOULD come under budget for the month tho…. Back to “do I actually NEED this food item”? Answer is probably No! I can EDIT my grocery list and meal planning for the month…. Also, going to start shopping with an ACTUAL calculator again…. I’ve not done that in years! Keep things in check.
This Friday chat by you to us K-Squad listeners today was so direct and encouraging. Lol when you asked: "Buns is that what you think of my budget? False alarm." 😹😹😹 Too funny There's two things we always count on: 1. You will always give us the guidance we need for positive financial success. 2. Buns will most likely indulge us fans with an appearance or two. 💗 the whole Kate Team there including Kaden and Mr. Hannond.
So I don't quite agree with the first rule when you go to the grocery store only by what's on the list because sometimes there is items that are like in store specials and you don't know until you get there and it might be really something that you'll need or you'll use and it's worth getting it or it's worth getting it to put in the freezer. That's just my opinion.
I allow a certain amount monthly for discretionary spending. At the end of the month, any cash left over is put back for buying Christmas gifts. Works well for me.
I spend only one day per week (on the rare occasion two days per week). During the work week, I refuse to spend. I go to work and go home, nothing spent. When I do my Saturday grocery shopping trip, I am at the point I only purchase the loss leaders as I have a well established stockpile so besides fresh fruits, veggies, milk and eggs, nothing else is ever needed. It has saved a lot of money. I was putting $100 a month last year towards the mortgage like yourself but now you have inspired me to raise it to $200 per month. Challenge accepted 😎
I preload my credit card for the month with money for food, transportation and enjoyment. Non essential shopping can only be done 2x/month. Precovid it was the 24 hours after payday but now it's when I have the fortitude to brave the stores.
My money comes in at lots of different times during the month and as I check my bank account everyday I only leave enough to pay the bills for the next week and what I am allowing for spends plus a £100 float , anything else is immediatly transferred to saving accounts . The money is available if neccessary but it is a case of out of sight out of mind .
I love the ideas of taking a trip to the grocery store much more seriously, and going with a well thought out food spending plan! These seem like great ways to control impulse spending.
Grocery shopping only once a week is going to save me lots of money, thank you! I love errands bopping in and out of stores, and every time I go into the grocery store for the third time during the week I waste another 20, 30, 40 bucks! That’s a lot of dough I don’t need to be spending on food right this minute. Great tip.
Grocery shopping one day a week with a shopping list after going through the store's leaflet to see what fruit and veg items and other products I buy are on special offer and having all my digital coupons activated to scan at checkout is my favourite frugal ritual and keeps me way under my grocery budget each week. I also use gift cards I get for my birthday and Christmas to buy all my hair, beauty and cosmetic products and I wait for them to be on sale (in the after Christmas sales) and I am able to buy enough to last me at least a year in one shopping trip with the cards. Wonderful video as always Kate and I'm looking forward to a fabulous February for us all! 🙂
When we were raising our kids, spend day was payday, every other Friday. Bills first, then spend what’s left. Adult children have said our Christmas traditions are still followed. Christmas tree two weeks before the day. Years later they were told it was because it was not rent, then mortgage payday and was when we could afford it! It worked.
Good morning Kate and K squad! This month and no spend January, I have saved nearly 3 times what I normally save in most months! Bye putting money I do not spend every week into my savings! Plus a few years ago I switched to a NVNO called cricket wireless which help me save about $45 a month on my cell phone each month! Multiply that times 12 and that is huge savings! Those are two ways I have saved money! Feeling better after being out with COVID-19 the past 10 days! Everyone have an awesome Friday and a very frugal weekend! Stay awesome!
I menu plan for breakfast, lunch and dinner every week to make sure nothing gets forgotten and I have a plan for every single meal. Even it’s it’s leftovers from the night before for lunch or toast for breakfast. Shopping only once a week saves so much time and money.
Great rituals Kate! Grocery shopping on Monday, Trader Joe’s and Walmart Marketplace. ✅. My no spend day is Sunday too. ✅. I check my accounts every morning. ✅. Extra debt payments…. Only debt is our mortgage, not yet making extra payments…
Hi Kate! Loving all your amazing energy and knowledge. I think reviewing accounts regularly is important. Had my credit card hacked and picked up on it right away. The culprits put through little purchases then tried larger ones!.. I love the idea of clustering errands as I live far from the city and have no stores within many miles of my home. Looking forward to the new month and utilizing all I have learned so far...BOOM!
I also shop every week or 10 days because of distance to the nearest town. I'll start at the store the farthest away and work my way back toward home getting to the rest of my errands on the way. Doing it this way also saves gas $$.
You would absolutely crack up if you could hear me talking back to you in your videos 😂😂😂 you are so great!! I don’t have many people to discuss these kinds of things with and since I’ve discovered your channel I feel like I have you and the whole team in the comments 😊❤❤❤😊😊😊Thank You Kate🥰
I was listening on my way to work, your little song made me laugh. Love that song, makes me want to do a little dance every time I hear it. I may need to borrow for one of my videos.
Hi Kate! Happy Frugal Friday! Love how Buns’ little paw rests on your hand. He is sooo sweet! Im so excited to be paying off my last Credit Card by March! I’ve paying extra $400 per month on that since Jan 2021 - then will snowball that into personal loan payment, then the mortgage after that!!!😀Thank you for your tips, reminders and always your positive energy!!! Much appreciated!!!
Great video, Kate. I enter my expenses into our on-line budget on days that I spend money. For me, the importance of this is that it's a great opportunity to check any budget category that I am keeping an eye on closely (usually groceries). I look to be sure I know how much I have left for the month. This is super helpful in actually ending the month without panicking because I've spent far more than I thought I had.
Morning Kate! I challenge people to shop every two weeks. Every time I order groceries because I needed a couple things, I end up buying more than the couple things I needed. I know you probably will too! There's a lovely family that I follow on UA-cam and they just had a believe they're 11th child and she grocery shops once a month. Now halfway through the month she saved some of her grocery budget to replenish milk and produce but aside from that one major trip at the first of the month that's what she does. I'm not sure I could do quite that well but I actually have adapted to the every two weeks shopping. I started by stretching my every week to 8 or 9 days and then 10 or 11 days and then finally I was able to make the jump to every two weeks. Another have been a couple times when I have had to go a day early because I live in the Midwest and snow storms were predicted and if you don't get to the store early the shelves really get wiped out because people panic so I have gone on day 13 a couple of times but otherwise it really has not been that hard for me to change my shopping habit for groceries. I found that I spend less when I shop every 2 weeks then if I would have shopped weekly. Just something to give a thought about trying.
Definitely having a shopping list before going to the store. Don't go into the shopping mall unless you really need to get something. I have never had an intentional no spend day, but I have no spend days every week. And pay off your home as quickly as possible, we used to have a home loan where we could take out any excess money we had put into it, so every cent would go into the home loan, when we needed money we could take it out at no cost to us. We paid for our first house in less than 7 and a half years, it would have been much sooner, but we did some big renovations to my in laws house in that time.
The Jungle Book! (That's a good quickstep song.) I had to use a store credit, and to get free shipping I did go over by $17.50. I had wanted a sleeping eye mask anyway, and needed socks and shoes, so I'm happy. I'll cancel my Fabletics subscription after these items are received. I still have a $10 credit at Dick's Sporting goods to use by Feb. 6, so I'll stop by there next week, probably for more socks. I only have an electric cooler and Styrofoam cooler for my food so I do need to go food shopping a couple times per week. When I get back in a house and have a regular fridge I'll try the once a week shopping. I actually love the once a month cooking. I do need to review budget, write down receipts, etc. Daily would be best. I usually try to do it on a Sunday. Thanks for all your great advice!
Me again - no spend January has been hepful with higher than normal gas and electric bills this winter. I started a new temp job last week - trying to think wisely what to do with the extra money. No spend January will continue - stashing cash for big ticket items later in the year :-).
Buying online & picking up helps here. I have dietary restrictions so I don’t allow substitutions & will pop in for my replacement selections of any unavailable items & that’s Only for items that were on my list. This keeps my groceries on budget and that makes me smile 😊
Grocery shopping is self care for me. I look forward to it. It's the only time I go out and about. But I go with a list, I meal plan for the week,I compare prices etc. It relaxes me,but that may change one day. Until then, love it.
My frugal rituals are: For debt: tackle the debt with the highest interest rate first. And make all my debt or bill payments as soon as the bill arrives or earlier. ( I look at the previous bill and the date of ending of that cycle so I know what cycle my payment will be applied. ) If I buy something on credit, I get it on a pay no interest if paid off within a certain time frame, and if course I do. Never pay a fee to use my own money. Like no bank fees or fees from an ATM machine. Nope, no thanks. Pay for gasoline with cash because they charge more when you use a card. When a service special runs out, I call to cancel it or get a new special rate. Pay all bills early and on time so no late fees ever.
Or buy while im in target. One stop shopping i know what i need and get in and out. Occassionally will remember i need something or im running low like copy paper or toilet paper.
Still binging on your older videos. Honestly, your advice is amazing. In the short time I’ve followed you, I’ve learned so much from your videos.

Make coffee at home every morning!!
Buying my groceries online from Walmart is helping me stick to my food budget. No more impulse buying and the time and stress it saves is remarkable.

Yes we too give our tithe
All we have is from God and he gives us the ability to make money
We have never gone without
God says he will supply our needs and that is the truth
Frugality is one of the recommended ways to leverage our financial status. It may be hard in the beginning, but it will always pay off as soon as we have come to realize we're slowly getting our goals closer to our reach.
My new frugal ritual will be to log every penny I spend starting February.
YESSSS LISA!!! AWESOME!
Oh! I love the Instacart mentality! Gonna have to try that! Thanks!
Thank you so much for sharing with us Heather! Yes these groceries prices...AHHH!
Kate, January being my "low spend month," believe it or not, I was able to cut my total spending nearly in half. I added up my expenditures for January and realized I am way under budget; although, there are still four day left this month.
Way to go!
HALF!!!! AHHHH!!! I'm so proud of you!!!!!!
I really enjoy meal planning and grocery shopping. Spending as little as possible is like a game to me.
YASSSS Jessica!
HECK YES KATHERINE! LOVE IT!
Automatic savings has been one of the best things I have done over the years.
I love that you are aiming to pay off your mortgage early. When we bought our house in 1998 we made the 2 best decisions of our marriage:
1. Bought a house that cost much less than we could ‘afford’ (according to the mortgage company). We just didn’t feel comfortable buying at the top of our budget.
2. This allowed us to get a 15 year mortgage which was very important to us
We payed the house off in 10 years!!
You go Kate! You’re doing the best thing you can do for your financial security.
MARE! in 10 years!??!? YASSSSSSSS!!! That is AMAAAZING! WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!
@@KateKaden Yes! We were disciplined about it. I can’t say I’m so disciplined when it comes to other things. I spend too much on frivolous things thanks to Amazon. But I’m working on it and get inspiration and motivation from your channel.
Kate - always love your videos. I made a grocery master list which I have in a plastic sleeve
So I circle ⭕️ All the stuff - with an erasable marker- in each category that I need - take a pic with my phone then boom 💥 I don’t need to think about what I need - the master list is my guide and all I have to do is check per item if I need more
Thank you so so much Annie!
Looking at my bank account and updating my budget on a daily basis has changed my life! Thank you! I feel in control of my money.
HECK YES SHERRY! LOVE THIS! Feels so good to be in control of it and not the other way around:)
I agree. Having a strict and good budget or financial management can always help us to be in control of our lives.
Shopping one time a week is a life changer! We save so much money because of that! Also, meal planning and budget how much money we want to spend on food helps a lot.
YASSSS Mrs. Grey!!!!!
I’m continuing no spend January into no spend February. Things are really tight right now and there is no extra money other than for the essentials. I’m also using order online for groceries, as I feel that I don’t spend as much. Staying out of Walmart and other stores also, trying to work as many extra hours as possible at the part time job.
Way to go Jane! You WILL get through this! I'm cheering you on!
my frugal ritual is to take all my budgeting stuff and go down to my local coffee shop. I sip on tea or hot coco and get down to business. I find I'm less distracted, make better decisions and in general feel good about it all.
YASSS!!!!
LOVE THESE!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing with us Ann-Marie!
This is such a brilliant idea. I hope people can learn and improvise this method of how to save and live a frugal life.
We are always so tight on time. So important to manage it well!!
YASSS!!!!! Totally Jax:)
Life was much simpler when i did paychecks and bills 1 day a month. Groceries and arrands once every 2 weeks. Yardwork. 2 hrs once a week. Set house chore times.
Oooh I like the allotted times!
I get paid once a month, so I budget out before 1st of month fore entire month and make payments 1st, even if not due till 15th or 20th.
I dont use credit cards and 1s I had have no balance
House n car paid off and that's 1 of things I budget for in case I need another car.
When I paid off house, I tried to pay extra $5 or more a month TOWARDS PRICIPLE to pay off early
Cut out soft drinks mostly and drink water
Dont drink or smoke
Budget, have emergency fund debt paid off, have fully funded emergency fund (10 months), no kids and currently no pets, pay insurance every 6 months, trying to get into meal prep/planning, do small savings challenges (do 100 envelopes for 1st time), I got raise 1st of year of $48 dollars a month so round to $50 to put towards savings, microwave went out in june but, though had savings, I put money aside till December to replace, try to be a recluse to not spend excessively
YASSS!!!
I get my coffee in the morning and sit down and check my accounts.
YESSS! Such a lovely beneficial ritual. Drinking my coffee right now as I type this:) Have a great weekend Laura! So happy to see you!
YASSS!!!! Love this Deborah!!!
everytime i get a 1 or 5 i throw it in a can and save my change also when i did this i had 906 and 278 and change at the end of the year
I buy staples in bulk. Overall it saves money and less trips to the store. I order my staples online and stick to the list. I like the idea of a no spend Day each week.
YASSS!!!!!! Thank you for being here! Love this.
I keep a journal and write down all spending every day, (noting no spending days) in it I also make notes about what’s for dinner. We are eating from stock this month. No spend January will continue into frugal February.
Love it!
Bring bring over for lunch at work EVERYDAY! save me so much $. Only groceries shop once a week and sticking with the allotted budget. Only going out to eat 1 or 2 times per month and finding where my little one will eat for free.
YESSS!!! Awesome. Great job!
One way I save time is by speeding up all the UA-cam videos I watch from normal speed to 1.5 times fast. For some of the slow talkers, I actually spend it up to 2 times the speed. I can watch a lot more money saving tips that way. 🥰🥰
OMG I LOVE IT! HAHAHAH!
Tracking my spending, automate savings, grocery shop every two to three weeks. Tracking spending has really helped me know where everything is going and let me know annual spending to save for my emergency fund.
YESSS Nesser!
Thar song says it all Kate, and it's so true! We scrimped, used it up, wore it out, etc and we were able to pay off house long before retirement. That's such a great feeling! This is my favorite video of all the ones I've viewed so far; thank you.
Thank you so so much Julia!
Hi Kerstin! HUNGRY WOLVES!!!!! You just made me giggle:)
I check my accounts every morning. I also added Ibotta to my grocery shopping routine. I scan coupons before shopping and scan receipts for cash when I get home. I already made $40.00 extra dollars in a month.
HECK YES! Awesome Linda!
Thanks, Kate! Frugal Fridays rock! Honestly, that’s right - you should have thought about those eggs before you went into the store!!!!!!!😹😹😹
BHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!! Now I'm laughing all over again Amy! LOL! Thank youuuu!!!!!
YASSSS!!!!
GOOD MORNING BEX! Always so happy to see you! Oooh love this! Thanks for sharing with us!
AHH! I love it when we find a system that works for us! YASSSSSS!
1. Walmart grocery pick up once every 2 weeks works for me. Keeps me out of the store and prevents impulse buying.
2. Every payday without fail I transfer a set amount to a general account, a sinking fund, an emergency fund and a car fund.
I LOVE this Jo!
That Buns!!!!

WAY TO GO KAREN!!! So proud of you!
Brava!
You’re redeeming the name “Karen,” ha, ha! 😉❤️😊
Love teaching the kiddos money lessons! AWESOME!
One of my favorite frugal ideas is to shop at thrift stores. There can be some really great finds from clothing to housewares. This past week one of our great finds was a Master Chef toaster oven for $10.00. :)
AWESOME Linea!!!
Happy frugal Friday 👍 Rituals 👍 🐻 song in my head now 😂

I don’t go inside the grocery store anymore. I order online, and pick it up. No more impulse buys. This has saved me a lot of money.
NICE CAROL! Oh man that's awesome.
Check freezer, fridge, and pantry
Check your calendar: when do you need easy meals?
Very interesting!
Thank you so much for sharing with us Linnea! Love it!
YESSS! Keeping things in check. LOVE IT!
This Friday chat by you to us K-Squad listeners today was so direct and encouraging. Lol when you asked: "Buns is that what you think of my budget? False alarm." 😹😹😹 Too funny

AHHH! I love it Jasmine!!!
Agree if you are disciplined.
I am guilty of grabbing uneccessary items, too many times to count.
Good for you, if you can just focus then leave 😄
Thanks for sharing Candie!

You got it!
I allow a certain amount monthly for discretionary spending. At the end of the month, any cash left over is put back for buying Christmas gifts. Works well for me.
Awesome Sheila! Thank you for sharing with us. This is great!
YASSSS Deborah!!!!
I preload my credit card for the month with money for food, transportation and enjoyment. Non essential shopping can only be done 2x/month. Precovid it was the 24 hours after payday but now it's when I have the fortitude to brave the stores.
Menu planning, which is a sort of budget, too.
Nice!!!
Nice Jacqueline! Thanks for sharing with us!
Goooood morning! Highlight of my Friday right here! 😄
GOOD MORNING Alex! Aww that makes my day!

Great tip.
YESSS CATHY!!! TOTALLY!
@@KateKaden Totally! $10.35 + $22.25 + $40.57 all for additional grocery stops this week. DANG!

YASSSS! Thank you Marielle! Loved reading this. FEBRUARY HERE WE COME!
It worked.
Love this!
Kate, I only have a one spend day and that is on grocery shopping day. That does not include pay billing day(s).

YESSSSSS HOPE! Thank you so much for sharing with us. Love it!
Could you please share the name of the family with 11 children on UA-cam

Definitely having a shopping list before going to the store. Don't go into the shopping mall unless you really need to get something. I have never had an intentional no spend day, but I have no spend days every week. And pay off your home as quickly as possible, we used to have a home loan where we could take out any excess money we had put into it, so every cent would go into the home loan, when we needed money we could take it out at no cost to us. We paid for our first house in less than 7 and a half years, it would have been much sooner, but we did some big renovations to my in laws house in that time.
Lovely end comment! Thank you for your good vibe !

I had to use a store credit, and to get free shipping I did go over by $17.50.
You are very welcome. Loved reading this! (And yessss! Great quickstep song!) Oh it's in my head again, here I go...dance time!
Always loved Baloo scratching on the trees!!
ME TOO!!!!!!! He's so endearing!
Me again - no spend January has been hepful with higher than normal gas and electric bills this winter. I started a new temp job last week - trying to think wisely what to do with the extra money. No spend January will continue - stashing cash for big ticket items later in the year :-).
LOVE THIS DONNA! (And you!) You rock!
I save so much money by "not looking for my happines in stores'.
Because it doesn't exist. No 'next new item' would make me better version of myself.
HECK yes Tomasz!!! Love this!
That is my struggle!!
Wise words
Buying online & picking up helps here. I have dietary restrictions so I don’t allow substitutions & will pop in for my replacement selections of any unavailable items & that’s Only for items that were on my list. This keeps my groceries on budget and that makes me smile 😊
Creating a budget and meal planning / prepping had the most positive effect on my finances. I just started in 2021 and it is life changing!
YASS! LOVE it Lola!
Buns knows! Lol. I like ur rituals very practical!

Awesome Aida!!!!!!
Grocery shopping is self care for me. I look forward to it. It's the only time I go out and about. But I go with a list, I meal plan for the week,I compare prices etc. It relaxes me,but that may change one day. Until then, love it.
Love it Punesha!!!
@@KateKaden ❤️❤️❤️
My frugal rituals are:
For debt: tackle the debt with the highest interest rate first. And make all my debt or bill payments as soon as the bill arrives or earlier. ( I look at the previous bill and the date of ending of that cycle so I know what cycle my payment will be applied. )
If I buy something on credit, I get it on a pay no interest if paid off within a certain time frame, and if course I do.
Love these Terri! Thanks for sharing with us!
Or buy while im in target. One stop shopping i know what i need and get in and out. Occassionally will remember i need something or im running low like copy paper or toilet paper.
Love that you used the lyrics to that song!
I adore that song! :)
