I have been playing the Telecaster for 50 years at this point. Own 7 of them. They are a very comfortable, unique sounding and utilitarian guitar. I never had an issues with any of these things that other people complain about. The switch...I always use top hat switch knobs and pinky finger handles handles that just fine. Three saddle bridge is just fine, but I do prefer brass saddles with ring grooves to keep the string from sliding around, intonation is never an issue. Never had a jack come loose on an actual Fender guitar, Squires, yes. The original bridge plate, I prefer because the lower edge forms a great anchor for controlling the guitar and anchoring your pinky to when needed. Pick-ups are a different story...this is about sound preferences and yes the Tele is shines when it comes to pickup swaps. My personal favorite is with SD Slash humbucker in the neck and a Dimarzio Pre-B 1 in the bridge (reverse leads for out of phase middle sounds). This set up is off the chart, pro grade.....can play absolutely any style of music.
The volume knob is positioned forward like that to facilitate volume swells done with the little finger. Remember that the Tele is the favorite of C&W players here in America.
Just bought this model in 2024, they've upgraded the tuners and went from Pau ferro to rosewood. I got the white also, but it comes with black pickguard. Gonna buy a white one for that much cleaner look. Great review and playing!
Just got one of these myself -- brown sunburst with a maple neck -- and I love it. In my view, the MIM guitars are just like the American-made ones . . . but better, because of the price. Good review.

This is a great review! One of the best I've seen on UA-cam of this guitar. I had my eye on the Butterscotch Blonde version, with maple fretboard. Seeing the polar white version with pau ferro fretboard reviewed here, I'm now leaning towards that one instead. It looks fantastic! Got one yesterday, sunburst body with pau ferro fretboard. I was split between the maple and pau ferro fretboards, and I drove 150km to the store to test them both. Maple version looks too shinny for my taste. I wish the pau ferro was darker, but I've read somewhere that it gets darker over time. I also considered getting the humbucker version because I like to play a lot of metal stuff, but somehow it doesn't feel like a real Telecaster. I'm playing it just for fun, so I can get away with less distortion on the guitar and add it on the effects processor, keeping that amazing single coil clean Telecaster sound. Thanks for the great video!
Cool. I have a butterscotch Player Tele with these “Plus-Deluxe” upgrades by me - Vintage Fender bridge and tuners, Wilkinson's compensated saddles, Mojotone ’52 Quiet Coil pickups, Lucky Dog gnarly knobs, angled-switch cover-plate, and a three string tree to stop the g-string ring behind the nut. It's a great guitar. I love the satin back/glossy top maple neck. For me it just blows away anything else under a grand. And I prefer it to the American series which I can afford to buy if I wanted to.
You're right, the price of American Teles is crazy. I see the new Pro II is up to £1600. It started as a working man's guitar and they're turning it into a luxury item.
Its true that the prices are ridiculous , especially thinking about tele simplicity but gotta admit , the American pro II are just heaven on earth to play. Absolutely amazing.
I've got the tidepool HH and can't say I've ever had an issue with the volume knob being too close to the pickup selector. But then again I play at the bridge 99% of the time so never really change it. Beautiful guitars though
Reverend makes a steel bar triple tree. Looks very cool. Also serves a good purpose giving the G more down force and keeps the trebles same angle, making bending more comfy back there. Only catch is you'll need to shave a bit off the base of the triple tree because it's too tall for a fender as is. Otherwise the Fender elite tree which is bowed is highly functional and nice looking. When you bend back there there's nothing for the string to snag on when you release.

Pau Ferro is the worst thing that ever happened to fingerboards! The American Performers are €999. I’ve 2 USA Teles, a Vintera 50s but one of my favorite is a 2001 MIM in sage green with Alnicos and it’s perfect. Player series are great except for the nasty Pau Ferro.
Horrible dry feel, terra-cotta red poo colour, just a cop out. Rosewood is beautiful in comparison. Fender are putting it on the low end, entry level stuff as it’s cheaper than rosewood which has had a cap on stock in the last few years for preservation interests. But even at that some of the cheaper rosewoods are still far nicer than Pau Ferro. That’s just my opinion but because of Pau I’m not buy a Vintera 60s Strat or any Fender with Pau on it. Rosewood or burst!
I love the Pao Ferro fingerboard I have on one of my teles. It IS different from what we're used to, but it's beautiful and plays great! A bit of mineral oil brings out the gorgeous grain and it stands out like some cool exotic addition to the guitars look. I do admit that when left dry and photographed in stark light they look a bit faded, but like I said, a spot of oil and it's all good.

cool review bro
Great video!!
Nice review and i lllove telecasters.
Anybod have little too much ( grounding ) noise with their player series? Don't know how much is normal, but I purchased mine few days ago and it's loud..
Great review brother!! 🤙🏼
Thanks mate
Take the plate off and reverse the controls so the switch is at the rear.
Wow ok im buying
I appreciate your video. I’m looking to buy one, just trying to decide on color. Hah!
I know the feeling. The blue one looks really good, you can see it in my other video: it’s the one my mate bought (humbucker version)
@@PherotoneStudios Then there's that...do I get the singles or humbuckers? So many decisions!
@@BrianLeverett I recently got a player telecaster I got the seafoam green with the single coil humbuckers and I can say it gives a very nice blend of everything if I have it on the neck pickup (the humbucker)it sounds amazing and if I have it on the single coil I can get some pretty strat-ish sound out of it the only downside is that having it switched to the middle where both are active as far as I can tell didn't sound very different from all the way on just the humbucker but it is a beautiful guitar absolutely a top pick 🤙
@@tessshultz2676 I appreciate the feedback, Jonas! I can't wait to get one!
I am having the same problem =)))) still wonder if the colour is white, would it get tainted easily
Where do you get the adjusted control plate? Had a search but couldn't find! Awesome review!
Thanks mate. Here’s a link to the control plate but I can’t get it to link to the product anymore. Hope they haven’t stopped selling them:

Found it, thank you so much! Keep up the awreviews!
Been looking at this trying to work out why the link I wrote didn’t worked. I’ve added an “I” after “plates” somehow. Glad you found it. They aren’t cheap but they’re also impossible to find.
I bought a load of them and gave them to all my mates that had Telecasters just to bring the postage cost down.
@@PherotoneStudios it only ordered one...yep, not cheap, but i think it'll be worth it. Got the HH player tidepool and want to make it as playable as possible. Thanks!
Is that the guitar that’s in this video : ua-cam.com/video/ESOZ811MiI0/v-deo.html
That's a nice looking Tele'
From what I hear the fender American plant and Mexican plant are very close to each other. The difference in price because of that is a crime imo. I just bought a telecaster player plus. There’s just something about a tele
Nice
Is it true theyre amarican parts just mexican assembled and woods? In which case i reallly want one. I have a made in america sunburst but i want the black top blonde.... do i need two teles? 🤩
I’m not sure but these Mexican guitars are amazing! You definitely need two Teles though
Why has your mates humbucker model got a belly cut but your single coil hasn't?
That’s just how they come. I’m a big fan of the gut cut
How much does this weigh?
i like 9's! and most all electric guitars are too much money.
Thinking about getting one can you tell me how has it held up, is it worth the price and is it good for blues?
Definitely good for blues, but it’d be good for anything. No issues with it so far but I don’t play it that much as I’m more of a Humbuckers guy
I just want to say Led Zeppelin and Def Leppard are my top 2 favorite bands.
Fn $850 now in america.
aren't these made in China now?
Switch never bothered me
Are these guitars good for indie?
100% you could use them for anything
awsum video
GAK RULE
affinity telecaster 170 quid.
Get an oaks grigg 4 way switch and then you get more options, you will thank me later
Tank top and shorts? Really?
It’s hot in the studio
Pau Ferro is the worst thing that ever happened to fingerboards! The American Performers are €999. I’ve 2 USA Teles, a Vintera 50s but one of my favorite is a 2001 MIM in sage green with Alnicos and it’s perfect. Player series are great except for the nasty Pau Ferro.
What’s wrong with Pau Ferro?
Horrible dry feel, terra-cotta red poo colour, just a cop out. Rosewood is beautiful in comparison. Fender are putting it on the low end, entry level stuff as it’s cheaper than rosewood which has had a cap on stock in the last few years for preservation interests. But even at that some of the cheaper rosewoods are still far nicer than Pau Ferro. That’s just my opinion but because of Pau I’m not buy a Vintera 60s Strat or any Fender with Pau on it. Rosewood or burst!
@@KRAZEEIZATION loser
Say it to my face keyboard warrior!

9s on everything. What's wrong with you man
And they gouge you $1200AUD for these made in Mexico affordable guitars. You're a disgrace Fender.
