Great video sir!! And I have been binge watching your videos on the OA4. It would be great if you did a video on lighting conditions and settings tips for being in the forest, especially for us mountain bikers.
Great vid, Just to clarify ! You can't use 10bit images on DaVinci's free version Which means that you have to get the studio version to use the D-Log M profile of the osmo
Actually, I've had people comment that using H.265 and 10bit works in the free version. I didn't try it so... It's definitely a topic for a future video. Cheers!
What if you record in normal mode and use the DJI-LUT over that? Will it be over saturated? Should you exclusively record in D-log mod to be able to use the LUT?
Awesome video! I am also using the DJI action 4 but honestly i havent seen much difference when color grading videos shot at normal mode or d-log. I feel I can achieve the same result with both modes. After various tests I did i have the feeling that with d-log maybe you only get +0.5 stops in dynamic range but not much more. It is certainly nowhere close to the difference you get using the log profile of an aps-c or full frame camera 😢
Hello! Yes, it's really close with the new firmware update. Before I measured 1.5stop difference (I have a video ;)), but now...? Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
I am a beginner and have a query. Do DJI normal colour mode and LUT-added Dlog-M footage look different? I mean whats the benefit of adding LUT when you can already shoot in rec 709. I am very new to this field thats why asking.😅
Hello and welcome to the channel. The benefit of D-Log M is that you can adjust the highlights and shadows before the LUT is applied. This way you can get more details in the highlights, for instance, that compared to the Normal profile wouldn't be available anymore. The same goes for the shadows. You get an additional 1,5 stop of dynamic range with D-Log M, which you can use for highlights or shadow retention. I have a few videos on this topic as well. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
very nice video!can you saw as the same clips with normal colour and d-log that have convert(with posto-production and colour grading)?i know that you have saw us one clip at 1:25...🙂but i want to see more..thanks
1.) Is it a compulsion to add LUT while editing ? Can i edit without LUT? 2.) im using ipad pro for editing please let me know colour science , timeline colour space, output colour space settings for ipad pro.
Hello! No, you don't need a LUT but it is the "most" accurate way of geting back the colors and contrast. I use Davinci Resove wide gammut fot the timeline color space and Rec.709, Gamma 2.4 for the output color space. This should work on any viewing device because it's a standard for brodcasting. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
Hello. Thanks. I think the OA5 is better then GoPro 13. DJI finally made a better camera this time around. I use my laptop workstation for video editing and it has a pretty good monitor. Not 10bit but very accurate. Cheers!
Hi and thanks for info. I still don't get the reason for log in small sensors, but ok. Have you used log M in low light? Is it better than normal mode? Any thoughts? Action 5 still has 1/13 so I'll wat for 6. Keep up the good work.👍
Hello. I have a video where I "meassured" a 1,5 STOP higher dynamic range with D-log M. There is more noise in low light with D-log M but that's tha same with all Log profiles, even on bigger sensores. You can get rid of the noise with some proper de-noising in Davinci Resolve Studio for instance. Over all I don't think D-log M is worth it even though I use it all the time. The new firmware update really looks good with Normal colors (onlly up to 30fps!!). In the beginning I show a clip of Alex with the ball shot with 100fps and Normal colors and you can see how "bad" it looks because of that fast frame rate and no firmware update applied. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
Thanks. There is no way im using NR or ultra NR in resolve for action 4 footage. (its not so good anyway) I use it for some clips and as little as I can. But not for all the sequence. So 10bit in normal is applied for all frame rates and resolution? thanks.
@@SCVisualArt Hello! I think yes but I don't thing you need 10bit for Normal colors. Also 10bit is only with HEVC as far as I know. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
Hi man , can you give me a tip or suggestion actually i bought osmo 5 pro and whenever i see output is bad its blurry so idk what happened with my camara.!
Hello. If it's blurry close to the camera lens, then that's normal because the minimum focus distance is about a meter away. If it's blurry all the way, then it's a faulty camera, and you should get a replacement. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!
@ Can you tell me that when we shoot a video, those files are shown in Osmo's video files, but there are also extra files, which are up to 200/1 GB, what are those extra files?
such a great video. thank you so much, i just got my DJI action 5 and i needed a video as simple as this. they are pretty similar, and the effort needed to get the dlog m to look better than standard is not worth it for my youtube videos, but that davinci looks really cool to play around with to get myself to that level, thanks for sharing it
Hi Miro. Is the LUT already available to Davinci Resolve or de we need to download it somewhere? Great comparison video seems the D-LogM profile looks more easy to grade.
Hello. The link to the LUT is in description. Just add it to the LUTs folder of DaVinci resolve. You can find it if you right-click on any bin in the LUTs section of the color page and click the "open in Explorer" or something like that. Then the folder opens, and you can create a new folder DJI and copy the .cube file into it. After that, you need to refresh the LUT bin in resolve or just restart. Cheers!
I believe this is one of the first videos you should have started with after reviewing the DJI Osmo Action 4
Ha! Thanks for sharing 😉. Cheers!
Thanks for the tutorial, I just subscribed!
Hey, thanks a lot. Cheers!

Hello. Thanks a lot. I think the 1/100-1/8000s and ISO 100-3200 should work well for MTB. Add motion blur in post. Cheers!
@ Thank you for the advice.

Both Color and DLogM record in 10 bit on OA4, so need to shoot in H.264 for using the video on the free version.
@@rjfotovideobut then you don't get D-log 😅

I just edited a H265/D-Log video using the free version and did not have any issues with that.
Amazing video! Nicely explained, just keep going! 👍🏻
Hello! Thanks a lot. Cheers!
Great video, well done bro 👏👏
Hello. Thanks a lot. Cheers!
What if you record in normal mode and use the DJI-LUT over that? Will it be over saturated? Should you exclusively record in D-log mod to be able to use the LUT?
Hello. Yes, the LUT is for log only. It's a correction LUT and not a creative look LUT. It will oversaturate. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!

Any videos on the mic settings? Mine seems to sound deferent and not as good as yours!
Hello. I do a bit of post-production tweaking. I'll make a video. Stay tuned. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!

No problem.
Can I color grade into the Mimi app or not ?
Hello. I think you can apply the correction LUT in the Mimo app, but that's just to get the colors and contrast back. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!

Hello. All the side by side clips are Normal (left) and D-log M graded (right).
Oh..sory.ok thanks!
Do you know where the action 5 pro lut conversion is ?
Hello. It should be on the DJI website. Honestly, it should be the same as the OA4 since it's the same picture profile. Cheers!

Click bait at its best with the OA5 😅
