I needed this I’m trying to get into trucking now! & I’m such an introvert. I love being alone. This 9-5 not cutting it. SN: I just purchased me a study book. So I’m ready!!! Finally made up my mind.
I am 46 years old and currently taking the 3 written tests for the learners permit here in Georgia. Thanks for making these videos! My plan is to at least do it for a few years to be able to buy a home.
@@quinetriaroberson5951 Hi. I just got my CDL. I am waiting to go out on the truck with the driver trainer. I would STRONGLY advise you to take advantage of the WIOA (workforce innovation) that is offered in Georgia. They will pay for CDL Training which will save you from paying for it yourself and also save you from having to sign a contract to drive for a year with a company you may not like working for (which is what I did). As you mentioned you have kids you probably want a local job so you can be home each night. Going over the road would suck for you as you will be on the road for a long time and will miss your kids. I hope this helps. But you need to set goals. First goal is to get your learners permit. This is easy. Just pass 3 written tests at the DMV and get a DOT physical. Once u get the learners permit you can go to a CDL school for a few weeks. It will have to be a school that accepts the WIOA funding. I hope this helps. Good luck!! You can do it.
I'm so happy for you gworly and a recruiter actually told me about WIOA I wasn't sure about it but the fact that you have told me this gives me hope 😩I just love good news I'm proud to be a woman soon can uplift the others 💜
@@quinetriaroberson5951 no but that part is cheap compared to the cost of the school itself. The DOT physical is about $100 and the learner permit is about 40 or 50$ i think. I cant remember exactly. It is best to have this before you go to school. The school I went to, in Alabama, would help you get it but there is so much to learn while at school I am so glad I already had mine. All this feels overwhelming but after you go through everything you will look back and think that it wasn't really all that hard. When you go to school they prepare you to pass the CDL test. The CDL test consists of (1) the pre-trip inspection. (2) the skills test. (3) the road test. The pre-trip you will learn as you will study it every day over and over, it's just memorization, no problem. The skills you have to learn are (1) straight line backing, (2) offset backing, (3) 90 degree Alley Dock. You will practice the maneuvers every day at school. Then the road test is just driving around with the examiner sitting in the passenger seat next to you. It's a good idea to watch tons of videos on you tube about all of these things so you know what to expect. This whole process, as is the case with most things in life, is just a series of hoops you have to jump through. A series of goals. Trust me, if I can do it anyone can.

I use to drive a van 14 hour shifts. I’d have a whole chicken in a crockpot cookin 🤣🤣 the ladies in quad city called me the chicken girl 😂
Yes I’m in the navy and I’ve been craving freedom. I just want to be free I’m an introvert and my husband is buying his first tractor and trailer and I’m really considering getting my CDL
Best of luck to you (former Navy person myself)!
Hey! Thanks for sharinggg. Very interesting 😊
Sadly for many it is min wage . . . and you reset at truck stops - having said that I got 1400 a week no matter what at PGT Trucking out of Champaign IL - home on the weekends
I can’t wait until I get back out there trucking it is probably the best choice I’ve ever made.
Young lady ur right on the money. I ve been. Driving for 30 yrs. I'm a owner op. Good information.an be safe.
God use his Best Paint Brush on you. I admire a female that's making her own living & have a career 💘
@first last right!😂😂😂
I respect this comment so much as a female who’s getting into trucking. It’s important for us females to secure the bag for ourselves & not try to wait on a man
U can make your own schedule if your load isn’t due like 2 hours from when u wake up and your 4 hours away then it’s wake up earlier then u wanted if your parked farther and park earlier and if you can park close to the place as possible that’s what all of them should do if they got they hours and ain’t tired but yes I love trucking my husband does it as well and u have to watch some companies that screw u over celadon was horrible and my husbands doing owner opp but there loads ain’t paying what they should it’s enough for fuel and the truck and maintenance but I love this video u did great girl
I sooo love you... your spirit is so warm... You are definitely my favorite female trucker here on UA-cam. It's like watching my daughter blossom... I am praying for your growth, success, and safety... I'm 35 and just getting into trucking I just got my Class A CDL Permit on 06/23/2022... I will definitely share my journey once I start my classes to get my actual license... pray for my success.
I hope everything works out for you !!!
I loved this. You answered a question I had been really curious about(no touch freight). As an introvert, I love being alone. I’ve never thought of truck driving for myself, until recently I’ve been seeing a lot of WOC and I love that.
So happy to see young ladies stacking and making their money. I’m glad you found something that works for you ❤️
Thank you so much for making this video. I really needed to hear this. It's highly appreciated ❤️
Yesssss, I’m ready to be a trucker now girl, you explained everything so well 🥰
This isn't everything is 100% accurate. Make sure you do thorough research. I have a playlist on my channel with good info.
I'm super glad I've watched some of your videos. I'm 59 years old, was a dental assistant 37 years. You've just really explained so much. Thank you keep giving that good vibe chica..
I used to be a truck driver when I lived in Minnesota. I still work on the highways but not driving trucks, actually a Inspector on projects in Texas. I am introverted and definitely love working by myself. We definitely need more women driving. You go girl!!
If anyone wants to get started, you will need to obtain your CDL permit and then take the driving test.
what about the dangers , driving in newyork, chicago etc miami
@@LastREalone You can always drive locally. You don’t have to drive over the road. You can always start with a smaller box truck instead of jumping right into a semi.
What stopped you from driving trucks ?
@@Nayamirie I changed jobs.
@Mica Rubio I always drove locally and never OTR, therefore I was home every night.
Don’t ever share your company love. Too many people try to do harm with too much information.
Good advice because some things said here can get her fired with charges.
@@SoulSearch11110 like what?
that’s how you know she love her job she said “pros and cons” and didn’t name one con love it can’t wait
Thank you for this video, thank you for your positive energy. I kept procrastinating on going to training because I honestly felt like driving for 12 hours will be tiring and very boring. You helped change my perspective a little bit.
Many jobs allow you to have a pet, which I think would help with the monotony, but a driving job with home time is best for me. Most jobs can be boring at times!
They gone stare sis you pretty lol. your reactions are priceless though.
“Most trucks have an introvert” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I laughed cause I’m an introvert myself
The fact that you use the scripture to start your teachings, I love you and I pray you succeed in all your endeavors. I'm inspired and I get encouraged to be a successful truck driver and also own my own trucks and employ people as well.
God bless you 😇🫂
You don’t need an endorsement to drive reefer just a CDL class A will do
j m Thank you for the correction! I was told differently, but you’re right ❤️.
Lmao i thought i was trippin when she said that ...... was about to google it 🤦🏾♂️
Being alone just me and god has been one of the biggest factors in me wanting and seeking my cdl.
GOD BLESS YOU SISTER, STAY SAFE🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾
I love your faith representation! Not preachy just real! I also would love to use the job to draw closer to Him.
Good for you. I am also a female driver of color its so good to see you getting closer to God what a blessing. I started my journey in this industry 6yrs ago with a heavy heart. I too got very close to God and spent alot of hours with my father bonding again. Long story short just purchased my 1st truck I drive only in Northern California locally and I love it. Stay blessed my sister and stay safe
@Huh Asssociates do you still drive locally?
Thank you for this!
I am new to the industry and really interested in Owner Operating but I want to experience being a driver .. so I guess first step is CDL
Thank you for your pros and cons I am new to the game been riding with my husband for a year and a half and now the time has come going for my Second road test this month I know where I went wrong I have been desiring to do this for over 20 years I was a school bus driver now I’m moving up in Jesus name what would be your recommendation
You will be fine, just keep trying
Currently attending trucking school, so I would look up videos on different people perspective and thanks for the video, definitely helpful. Keep up the good work.
I just had a talk about getting my cdl with some coworkers at my job today. Never looked at Truck driving like this before. I’m definitely about to get on it !
Kb said to check your channel out
Thank you ! ❤️
I’m excited to get started on the trucking journey!! A few years ago I drove the city Bus… now I don’t really wanna be bothered with people like that anymore , and I like to drive plus I love money. Thanks, Great Video!!
@@fivestar000 you would contact a school. They would provide whatever you need.
Love your videos ❤️ you mentioned not to use towels at truck stops and that you use your own towels and washcloths, what do you do afterwards with your towels? Meaning if you can’t wash them afterwards and they are still wet, do you put it somewhere in a truck to dry?
Welcome to the 18 wheel world and lifestyle!! Be careful and be safe sista!!❤🖤💚
I love the "no hype" quality of this video, and I'm only 5 minutes into it.
New subscriber, I love your attitude. I'd LOVE a storytime on lot lizards 😂.
Just found this video. I'm an older black female and have had a couple of bad job experiences this past year during this pandemic, underhanded throw you under the bus type snakes in the work place, I'm old school I show up do the work and go home.... this is the rout for me and am an introvert and need to be alone. Yeah I'm getting my class A. Thank you young queen ❤
I did that when I was 62. I hope you do well. I didn't get everything on the first try but I tell you I practiced every single second I could. Eat alot of protein because you will need it. I ended up losing too much weight and so I upped my snacking, especially around test out time.
Why would you want to do that at 62 that's time to think about retiring
I once rode with a friend and I loved it, next time your in Cleveland Ohio let me ride with you and pepper
I also love the freedom. My birthday was November 23rd. Was on a load that took me to Tampa, Fl. Got a room at Marriott in down town Tampa for $100.00 per night for my 34 reset. I'm from Chicago and ooo weee!!! Did I enjoy myself and got paid???
YES!!!
I live in Chicago too
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Young baby be careful out there
Thanks for posting I’ve been looking into this career field and been considering it now for atleast the past year 🙏 sounds great nothing is perfect a job is a job and sure it will get tiring just what a job comes with so we gotta learn to cope and deal stay pushin forward

Its the living paycheck to paycheck for me. My cousin has his own cab and he makes 26,000 for one trip yes that's right . The least he has made was 10,000 . When I heard him say it I thought 😪 man im in the wrong profession. I make 28.71 a hr doin security for Federal buildings and is stuck 12 hours a day in one spot and im always broke before every paycheck.
Where do you live? 28per hour and still broke that's harsh
You make good money, maybe you got used to it and spending too much on trivial things. Just budget you checks , you will get nice pension some day. I did that when I worked at this one place. I was buying me the prettiest heels and jewelry and you name it. I don't even use the stuff!!! Just learn to live in a budget like a game and watch your savings grow and be investments!!!
@@tmo.48 she should live on rice and beans like Ramsey says
How you broke maken 28$
@@TherealC.J. when you have mortgage, gas, water, sewer, electric, phone, toll, gas for car, food, internet, cable,a a couple subscriptions you'll be broke too. 😫
Was getting your class A difficult or easy for you ? It’s seems a lot to to tackle, how did it go for you ? Great video BTW
50 grand is a fortune if you have no bills. Save and build yourself up for a better future.
I really like that shirt/jacket thingy that you're wearing
I thought it was sharp too
Heyyyyy I’m from Michigan too! I have been thinking about doing this for awhile and have been watching multiple videos about it. Think I’m gonna make the jump. Great video!
True story… thanks for the info.. very informative 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I subscribed 2 your channel due 2 the fact, you acknowledged God in your life. Its rear that most ppl take the time 2 give him acknowledgedment. Big up 2 you. And i appreciate your simplicitly in your post.

Facts. I'm an introvert and a team driver. Teaming is so mentally taxing
I’m technically wired extrovert ig, but Ik for damn sure I couldn’t do team driving😂 I need my space
How y’all sleep?
They keep looking at you because you are soooooo so beautiful baby!
I’m a blackjack dealer for 27 yrs looking for a career change. I have had pit bosses and surveillance and customer s in my face the whole time. Alone sounds amazing not doing hair and makeup every night amazing! I could never speak to another person for the rest of my life and be just peachy thanks for the video
Good place to stay away from a mean wife without divorce.
😂😂😂 what you say lol
How bout a mean husband? Need to runnnnn
I might have to change my profession, thanks for the information:) awesome
I'm studying for my CDL and found your video very helpful!!
I love the pro of being alone.
Facts
Exactly
You are an awesome driver and lovely person keep grinding 💪❤
You are a remarkable young lady! I turned 63 and spent decades behind a desk, working in a windowless building day after day… so I have made up my mind to become a long haul driver for ALL the reasons you describe. Thank you for making this video.
Good to hear I am 63 and getting ready to start school in march!
One the reasons I'm getting my cdl been working in warehouses for 13years and so tired being starred at I work on my own but freedom is the key word tired of co workers
How hard was learning how to drive the truck ?
Same as learning to drive? Practice
Speaking on the introvert aspect….i am an introvert…the only thing is need to “recharge” from the introvert-ness by peaking with my immediate family. I dont “recharge” speaking to people outside my family. I am very much a family man and that is my biggest hurdle im trying to get over before truly deciding to jump in to this profession
how your eyes looked when you said you have memory foam seat covers lol I felt that. ill get them too lol
I’ve been a trucker for 35 years. It’s a LIFESTYLE-not a job. Great info for the Ladies, outstanding video Young Lady...
I know this is completely irrelevant to the video but I couldn’t go any longer watching you without saying this lol. My god you are so beautiful. That smile is AMAZING. The dimples. Ugh. Every time you smiled so far I’m like oh **butterflies** 👀 LMAO.
Very beautiful, thanks for the info too
Can u teach me the way? U on the gram?
You really just persuaded me to change my whole career pathway! Thank you so much for the info
You are amazing ! Iam a loaner too. Introvert. Don’t like dealing with people and working with them . Love the spirituality of being alone with god . Give me my space and a cat or dog . Can travel. Iam trying to find out a better career path in life .hate 9-5. Thank you for ur videos!
