Hello Billy! ♡ You are one of my inspirations for learning Korean language, including Natalia, Angelina (Ella K), Hyunwoo, Sohyun Moon (Korean Unnie) & Minji (Minji Teaches Korean); you guys are doing an outstanding job! Thank you
my grandpa was a polyglot and one thing he always used to say was that you have to treat learning a language as if you are a baby. when babies are learning to speak they listen and repeat. they string words together, even if their sentences aren't correct/don't make sense. this is how i study languages. when you know a few words and grammar points try stringing a sentence together. it doesn't have to be perfect, but that gives you the opportunity to learn! it's all about the small steps hoenstly.
I've been studying Korean for almost 4 months now and I've noticed that my reading or understanding is going 3 steps ahead everything else for example If I want to say "I go home by bus" I can't build the sentence in my mind to say it out loud but if i see it written I know it says that. I guess I need to invest more time in active listening exercises and do some changes in the way I'm currently studying.
This is imo A THING between people who are learning a language and I even remember a meme that went like * I tell someone I'm learning a language * People: wow, really? Say something in [said language] Me: ?????? brain.exe has stopped working And you might be already in a level when you understand quite a lot but it's that part where you have to build a sentence you can't 😅
@@haitangweiyu So true! And outside of second languages, children who are not yet verbal understand more than they can speak initially. People often think toddlers don’t know what they mean, but just because they can’t repeat it, doesn’t mean they don’t understand! I also read that many children who learn 2+ languages simultaneously in their household, typically take longer to speak aloud than kids learning one language!
@@RuthMcDougal I remembered the show about a Russian girl 5 years old who speaks 8 languages. Google it, it's interesting. She learns playing with natives of these languages.
Hey everyone out there who are struggling to learn Korean! Well, im also a beginner but what if i tell you it's been 3 months ive started learning Korean, and ive already mastered Hanguel, and memorized 150+ words. So first things first, before starting to learn any language, remember, it will take time. It won't end in a year or so. It is a really long journey, so you need to keep this in mind, it's okay if it takes time. And secondly, you will need to improve your observation skills to learn fast. Now, some of the tips which i hope, will be beneficial are here. 1. Hanguel: Don't rely on a single source. Try to avoid romanization and find an equivalent sound in your native language (if you're a non native English speaker). Also to find out the exact sound, listen to songs and observe how they pronounce it. 2. After hanguel, i recommend to learn words rather than jumping on to grammar rules. Also, start with simple catagories of words which you need in normal conversations. The sequence in which i learned is : Numbers, colors, time, body parts, shapes, clothing, greetings, and so basic nouns and verbs. Also, while im listening to kpop, i learned many random worlds like "sesang"(world) "saranghe"(love you) "uri"(us) "bigida"(tie), etc. Also, watching kpop and kdrama help a lot in enhancing vocabs as well as pronunciation. I use "Avocard" and "Infinite Korean" to enrich my vocabs. If you can make use of it to the max, i bet they are the best free apps for vocabs. Ive an languageblr for Korean studies, so if you are interested, find me at tumblr @Koreansegye I hope this helps and all the very best for upcoming learning sessions. Take care, stay safe and study well. Hwaiting!
Don't compare your learning progress to other leaners, but to yourself! Compare how you were X months/weeks/days ago and you'll be amazed every single time how well you've improved. Good luck!
this!!! only strive to be a better you, or you will only be disappointed. ita hard not to compare to others but you know nothing of their stories and everyones experience is different:) only strive to be better than you were yesterday ~
I’ve been on and off learning Korean for the past 6 years now. I absolutely adore the language but it can be overwhelming to me sometimes. Whenever I get a notification from your channel, it awakens a competitive side of me. When I hear about how well you’re doing, it makes me want to try harder and get on your level. Let’s become fluent together Natalia~!!!
@@riya-sv1rh I learned Hangul in 3 days but I would use the romanization for a full week before I could make assumptions on how I would spell it in Korean. I know so many words now, that I forget the basic stuff like colors and animals but what helps me remember is vocabulary cards and children’s songs. I like fun ways to study and help memorize what I learn. It took me about 6 months after learning Hangul, to get the beginner stuff down but I still review every now and then.
@@NataliaGarza I am learning Korean for 2years now and some months but I am still very struggled in understanding when Korean people speak. I am staying with Korean people. I can read fluently but the problem is that speaking and listening
I have been learning korean by myself for a few months, and i'm doing really good at understanding, i just need to work more on forming sentences quickly by myself. For me, the key to learn quickly is consistency and not stressing over it. If you see language learning as a chore, then i think it's gonna be harder to memorise and learn.
Man, I needed to hear that first Tip, because that's me. First I said I was going to post videos on my studygram of me speaking Korean but then I was like, "What's the point? You don't know a whole lot so why set yourself up like that?" And I refused to do it. But I know that I should, regardless, otherwise I'm not getting that practice and I'm just holding myself back even more.
It's so true about what Natalia was saying in the beginning about not comparing yourself to others! If you need to remember this then I recommend you listen to My Pace by Stray Kids! It's a kpop song so it will also let you have some listening time and it'll give you a nice reminder!
Honestly I'm so glad I decided to click on this video because I've become so self-conscious about my journey with Korean recently. I've been studying on and off for 9.5 months and I really want to improve because I love the language and I want to be able to help my Korean students better but when I see other people at other levels in their own journey it makes me feel like I'm not doing well enough. This served as such a good reminder that there is no common timeline and we all go at our own pace so thank you 💕
I get this question too! People always comment on my videos asking how many months it takes to reach a certain level and stuff and I'm like....you do know it's not a specific formula like oh every 3 months you move up a level....that's not how it works! Realizing that I was on my own journey, my own path, and my own speed and not comparing myself to other language learners was the BEST thing I learned during my language learning!
Exactly~~ Also you have no idea the amount of studying they're putting in or the quality of study~ 3 months of meeting with a private tutor is going to give you different results than 3 months of self-studying grammar from a book~
recording my voice and listening to how it sound is something sadly I cannot do, as I live in a house with thin walls and my housemates are strangers and I don't want to be ridiculed, but I did thought about it and sounds like a good practice. My worst nightmare in korean language will be shortcuts, words or expressions that are made short and are not in official books.
Yes you can! I used to care so much of what others thought of me when I told them I studied Korean. Not anymore. Are you afraid that because your pronunciation is bad they will laugh at you or are you afraid that they will find out you are studying Korean? For the first one, everyone starts as a beginner, there’s no way to improve if you don’t practice. For the second one, I am pretty sure they won’t care too much, and even if they do, is it really worth it? You not improving your language skills because of them? Let them lose their time while you do something productive and enjoyable 😄
words and expressions not in official books. you can get exposure to those by dramas or reading webtoons. i dont have time for dramas so i read webtoons and watch game shows lol (i dont mind leaving off in the middle of a game show but i cant stand not finishing an episode) adding to the other commenter. if youre afraid to be judged for learning korean. i went through that too. i studied in secret for 6 months!! then i got so obsessed i quit caring. at first i was judged, but now those same people are just impressed at how much i was able to learn on my own. they once judged me and still low key do, but they also have to acknowledge what i accomplished. once i came out and quit caring, i took down some walls i had up and made a loooot of improvements. recording yourself is better so you can HEAR where you are going wrong, but it helps to speak outloud even if you dont record it. so whisper to yourself for now :) your roommates wont hear you and youll still imrpove. i hope you eventually get the courage to record yourself though~
I've been learning Korean on and off for the past 12 years. I only started seriously studying last year and I started to see significant progress. This year, I jumped in with both feet and enrolled myself to italki classes. Not seeing "tangible" improvement can really sap your motivation, but it really pays to be patient, persevere and stay consistent. Learning a new language takes time, not just a week or a month. Slow is fast! Thank you for always encouraging me to keep going, Natalia
I love this video so much. It’s so important to look to others for inspiration or support and understanding but expecting to be able to have the same language journey as anyone else isn’t possible. Some of those people may know other languages and pick up things easier, some may have the opportunity to study abroad, or they have a different learning technique than you, or they don’t work as much as you or have as much responsibility as you do in a day to day. Just know that there’s a language you’re taking the time to learn. Enjoy it, pace yourself and have fun.
I speak to myself or record myself just to practice my speaking korean skills. Been studying it for a year now. But i'm still not fluent but I'm working hard tobe fluent.
I’ve been studying Korean for over 10 years and I still would not call myself fluent...haha. And 3 of those years were spent living in Korea. So I really have no excuse except that I’m a slow learner 😅 but I’ve come to terms with that.
@@skypie2083 don’t let that discourage you^^ just enjoy the process of learning! My advice would also be don’t compare yourself to others, like Natalia says in the video. Just see their progress as inspiration!
Then you lived in an expat/foreign district like the most? I mean... really? Very hard to believe for me. I learned 2 years at home, around 6-10hours per Week, went to korea for littlebit more than a year - not seoul, very important - no foreign friends and so I was forced to learn that language that I understand basically everything and speaking wise I'm able to hold non science conversations. And I'm also a very slow learner, never understood english in school but if you are forced to speak the language because there are no other people... I only heard those 3years stories by people who lived in foreign districts so never saw the real -non seoul - culture (because seoul is super different to the rest of korea) no offense tho.
I have been studying Korean for almost 3 months now and I'm really proud of my progress. I can read, write and understand some basic conversation now! I'm also proud of myself because pronouncing the words was easy for me,YAYYY! Enhypen is my inspiration to learn so I suggest you find your inspiration to keep going! ❤
This is my 3rd year in a row studying korean and I can tell you this from my pov: it is hard and sometimes it frustrates me because i know all these grammar rules but it's like it's a bit difficult to know how or when it's the appropiate time to apply them. But it's a learning process and I'm just so happy thay I had the encourage to start. I get better everyday and that's amazing to me :) Ps: i swear sometimes i have dreams with kpop idols and i actually have conversations in korean 🤣🤣🤣
omg i needed this video.. i've lost all motivation into studying recently but now that i've watched your video i'm slowly getting my routine back! thank you so much ^^
Im 8 months in now, and even though I expected to be speaking by now, Ive improved innnn soooo many ways than I could ever imagine. Like one day I don't understand s*** and the next day its like you ears have opened up! Someone once said, Instead of rushing through the process and trying to reach the end, ENJOY THE JOURRNEY live in the moment. Because I could swear to you now, even though im 8 months in, EVERY time i learn a new lesson, you should see the joy on my face!
The way I approach questions about how long I've been learning a language is: I don't say day, weeks, months, years, I say, "oh only a few hours in, I'm taking my time" Korean is a level 5 language for English speakers, meaning they expect it to take around 2200 hours of studying to become fluent. Yes I've been studying for over a year, but I've got maybe 200 hours in total study time.
This is great! Thanks for addressing the "how long have you been studying korean" question. After meeting so many people who are studying Korean, it's mind blowing how different people learn and acquire languages. Having a group is really helpful. We study together in groups and having the same people in class make study group chats help us stay motivated. Also that's awesome that you have partnered with Kakao talk! We want to get to your level soon!
I really needed this talk. I have been studying for two years and a half and I still can't haver conversations or listen properly to things. And sometimes I get so upset then I think it's all about my way of learning and my speed. Thanks for bringing this topic. Makes me more confident to keep studying.
Like she said everyone is different! I would suggest taking the VARK questionnaire online. You'll find out your preferred learning style if you answer it 100% truthfully. Then you can adapt your study methods to your style. I've lived in Korea for 8 years now, and I've picked it up rather naturally. BUT I have foreign friends that have lived here more than me and their Korean is still just survival level.
Over last winter break I started learning and then I slowly stopped because of school and I really hope I can get more time to be able to this next break
I wish I would had watched this video before so that I could had joined the group. Natalia If u ever make another group in kakao please let us know. ❤️
I'm so grateful for your content, I'm right about the age you were when you started studying and seeing your progress inspired me to start studying Korean!
I always tell myself that I shouldn't compare myself to others learning Korean, but sometimes I end up doing it anyways... so thank you for this video, it kinda "validated" my pace of learning, if that makes sense. It's nice to hear that everyone will learn differently, and my progress shouldn't be compared to the progress of other people. thanks once again natalia ^^
I definitely can relate to the last part of the video. It happens to me very often that a word comes to me first in Korean, or English, even though I'm speaking Spanish. At the end of the day I'm not good at speaking any language ㅋㅋㅋ
I’m on the five year plan myself as a forty something adult. With a vocabulary of about 500 you can technically start talking but you need a patient partner and it really helps if you can switch to English a little if needed.
This is helpful! My sister and I are both learning Korean (started at the same time) but she’s way better on the speaking while I’m better at reading and writing and it was frustrating me because I feel like I have to speak so this is encouraging!
honestly its such a good tip to give yourself a kind of headstart to confidence for conversations by practicing those early questions! Will definitely do that cause it sets the way you feel about that conversation and if im not prepared to be asked smth i struggle with the easiest questions, that i would normally be able to answer easily. thank you natalia, great video as always!
Thank you for your videos I really love them!! At first honestly I really wanted to speak korean because I wanted to speak fluently and to watch K-dramas without subtitles. But for me building sentences are too complex and hard especially I don't have a native Korean friends. So instead of stopping from learning korean, i used this knowledge so I can sing Korean songs (although i'm still careful because it might sound different from the lyrics) and to read packagings with Hangeul.. Im contented for that and i'm already happy
Hi Natalia! I’m so thankful that you opened a Kakaotalk group chat! I had asked you a couple months ago to create one and I’m so glad you did! Sadly, I joined late so the room was full. Is it ok if you make it into more people can join?
THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR ALL THE HELP. THIS PLAYLIST MOTIVATED AND HELPED ME A LOT AND I ALREADY LEARNT SOME WORDS TODAY.... I HAD ALMOST GIVEN UP CUZ WHERE I LIVE THERE ARE NO CLASSES AVAILABLE AND WHO DOESN'T WANNA LEARN FOR FREE! I REALLY HOPE I MAKE IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND I'M GLAD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL. I WISH I HAD FOUND YOU SOONER! THANKYOU AGAIN!
I've really wanted to learn korean for about a year now, but honestly, I don't have the time cus I'm still in middle school and have homework upon homework. So really want to just start learning the language even if it's just for 1h two times a week.
One hour two times a week is a lot. I do 10 minutes a day with an app, I find it difficult but I started to spot more and more words while watching dramas so I get a buzz from it. It's not that I don't want to do more, I can't, I get bored and lose motivation. I think I want to run before I can walk - so to speak.
@@whitneystephenson5313 - Today, I decided to stop using it, tomorrow I'll be starting on TTMIK on UA-cam. The reason being, the app was good to start me off but on checking it against Papago and Goggle translate, it has too many mistakes. I'm watching now The King Eternal Monarch on Netflix - useful as the Korean subs are in big on the screen, I copy them on Papago and learn new words. I'm still at the stage where I need to learn a lot of words, my vocab is too poor to do anything with it.
Oh hello there I can I help u, dear u can install doulingo app u can make shedule of urslef liek on doulingo u can change the time how much u will learn Korean per day 5mins 10mins 20mins liek taht and it's super useful 😀 try it dear. I hope my comment helps :)
Each time Natalia make a video she becomes my favourite language youtuber. Personally, there's times I can do from 1 to 3 (ranges between 30min to more 1h) of studying with TTMIK, each day every day, for more than a month, but there's times I'm so overwhelmed by life that I put aside korean and keep it in standby for more than month. I really need to keep my motivation up otherwise i will never get through this journey:/
When I feel down or not wanting to study I use an app like LingoDeer even if it's just for 15 minutes in an entire day or I will listen to some Korean music just to keep the language present as part of my life or daily routine until I feel better to actually study.
I see nothing wrong with taking a break, the brain does its job storing information the right way, ready for you to retrieve it when you are ready. Learning a language requires time so, giving it time to settle it's a good idea.
@@Ploiesti2001 yeah you're right, I mean I give myself about 5 years starting this year to have an average korean, afterword I'll see if I need to get "fluent" or I made a whole new plan for my future. But still, I want to be consistent, this weekend I've been learning for 3 to 4 lessons a day with no reason xD
@@Ziegfrieed - I gave myself three years to learn it - to what level is anyone's guess but after that I want to go visit Korea. It would be my first time trying to learn the language of the country I intend to visit - I always relied on English everywhere else.
Some of the things that has been helping me is just replacing english words with korean. I also learned how to say - i only know little ( language). Another thing that has been helping is sticky notes on things i use daily. Like i have a sticky notes on the door, above my bed, next to my chargers, on the coffee pot, above the sink, by my toothbrush and so on.
I sometimes get really stressed because I need to be at a TOPIK level 4 a year from now (I've already been studying for about a year but it hasn't been super intensive because I'm also taking 19 units at uni) and it also took me a really long time to find my learning style. I leave for Korea in about a month to do a summer program (it's in english but I'm also taking intermediate korean courses) but one of the biggest issues I have is trying to find vocabulary that suits my studies. Basic university lingo is easy to find, but I'm a biochemistry major with emphasis on public health. I'm trying to pursue an MD-PHD hopefully in Korea (hence the need for a high TOPIK) but finding reliable sources with correct terminology for things like "heart attack" or "PCR synthesis" has been extremely difficult. I know most people don't need to know that, just like I don't really need to know about engineering or basket weaving (idk haha), but since it's my career and study focus, I talk about it a lot. I'm expected to talk about it a lot. I'm worried my dream of studying long term in Korea will be ruined because I can't figure out how to study these terms (Also beginner grammar was fairly easy to pick up but as I'm going further along the grammar is getting super confusing) If anyone has advice on either of these things, I'd appreciate it!
Like how do you say "I'm doing a research internship at this university studying protein synthesis and its effects on modern diseases" right me neither
Just yesterday I watched ep.15 of Dr.Romantic and someone died of heart attack and a lot of PCR was used as well on ER patients. You can check the terms in it, very useful. Not Netflix, only Viki. I believe a specialist dictionary is in use for any language, whether it's your own or not, have a look on the market for it.
The best practice of learning a language is to be in the environment of said country. This is because forcing yourself to learning said language as a method of survival, because if you don't, you will not survive. This serves as a HUGE motivator and the spark to kick off your learning in overdrive. You have to be out of your comfort zone and pushed into the corner. Like the saying goes, necessity is the mother of all inventions.
Your absolutely right because everyone does learn at different time speed but it always comes back to learning and taking the time to study the language.. You give such great tips! I'm still learning and their's certain words I remember already.. I'm definitely going to get the books 📚 you recommended
It's so funny how these tips are things i do with spanish.. Coincidentally I've been learning spanish for less time and i feel more comfortable with it. Time to apply it to korean👍🏽
This is my first time actually, truly learning a new language. I'm one that I have to go slow, I found some great textbooks, many videos, a couple apps. I have been working on Hangul for about a month and half. I still stuggle with a few vowels. It's about the journey, and it's true everyone's journey is different ❤❤❤
It took me that long to learn hangul, I thought I was the only one ! I'm dealing with the vowels by listening to my favourite OSTs. By memorising those words, I have something to give me a connection to them and thus to remember. Today, I've come across this one: ㅒ in 얘기해줘요 - yaegihaejwoyo . At first, I panicked because I couldn't see it on the keyboard. So, yes, take it easy, learn them by using words, otherwise the process will be even too slow.
@@Ploiesti2001 Using words to learn them is very helpful! Once I started to hear them spoken in more words, it makes it easier to remember which sounds they make. Been doing grammar lessons too, which have been so helpful! Good luck on your Korean journey!!! ❤❤
@@weave_girl325 - Thank you ! I need more motivation, I can't wait for things to go back to normal, I want to join a class nearby and do lessons and conversations face to face. I actually saw quite a few Koreans in my neighbourhood, I was tempted to say 'Aneyaseyo' but I didn't because ...I can't say much more after that. :)
@@Ploiesti2001 Right, it would be nice to be able to practice in person, and I'm with you I can't say much yet! But I feel that it's good to get a lot of input before you go right into output. If you look up Miss Vicky on UA-cam, she is amazing at explaining/teaching. Her videos are a God's send!
@@weave_girl325 - Oh, yes, Miss Vicky is a real hero for all of us, beginners. I haven't had time/patience ! to start with her but I subscribed and watched just one of her videos. Hopefully, I'll start soon, it's difficult to take the first step, I keep being derailed by watching dramas instead. :)
People ask that first question cause you see all these (mostly nonsense) “I learned Korean in 60 days” videos or something like that 😂 It doesn’t help and it makes people feel bad if they can’t
I’ve been learning korean for about 4 months, and I’m just getting into grammar😅 this video really motivated me to go learn some korean right now so thank you!
Thank you for this video!! I found it very encouraging!! I’m not sure if you have made a video on this yet. But I would love to see how you journal in your target language ?
Yes because I paid for a teacher the end of 2019 I work to damn much but I’ve started back an realize I HAVE to make time for things I truly want love your videos I’m easy to get side tracked
I'm still having trouble learning to read like I'm memorzies hangul but I cant put the words together or know what they mean, could you recommend me a vid that will teach?? Ty!
I personally don't care if someone says they learned in 6 months or 4 years because I don't compare myself to others. It is helpful information because it gives me an idea on what could be. Everyone has their own journey, but your point of view is appreciated. Specially because everyone learns differently.
Your channel is amazing, and every study tip you give us applies to every other language, not just Korean. Your philosophy on only using the characters and not just using romanization applies to Russian, Chinese, Thai, Kazakh, and many other languages. Korean language is strange to me so I don't learn it, but I still love your channel!
i have the motivation i need. Im currently having 4-5 apps which im learning through. but because of my studies its so hard to even take my daily lessons.😢 The thing that i always have in my mind is NEVER GIVE UP❤
The reason why people don’t become fluent in a language they are learning is Bc they only learn the grammar of the language but if u learn the technique of how to form a sentence in that language you could learn the language fluently within a week unlike the language apps and courses that u have to pay like so much money on that every week when learning the technique would be so much easier “ The urban Eve “ is a youtuber and knows a lot of langauges she teaches you how to speak the language within a few days if you go on her channel she made a site called language boot camp and another site you would have to pay 100 and somebting for the program but that program is what you need if your learning a language most teachers aren’t teaching you right so this would be a great method for anybody
Nat, thank you very much for this video 🥺 you always make me feel motivated to continue learning korean, also you make me feel that I can improve it even if I don't have someone to talk in person. ✨
I have been learning Korean since October 2020 and I know a lot but need to work on grammer and stuff, but i know a lot of simple things like Hello,Goodbye, thank you, etc.. I tend to lack some on the practicing lol.. Thank you for the tips!
I am feeling this introvert question because I'm studying hard and listening a lot but man....talking to actual people especially randomly online even if it's in a year. Can't imagine
I've been learning Korean for less than 3 months and have about 600 vocabularies already. But my grammar is still lacking. Ahh it's hard, but I will keep going!
I watched this video till the end, but still i couldn't find from where you got sponsor from Kakao 😂😂😂 Anyway thank you for your video! It was really helpful to me getting ideas what kind of videos are needed to foreign friends who want to learn Korean!!!! Thanks a lot!! 😁❤
Literally started dabbling in Korean less than a week ago, and I literally just keep on speaking to myself with whatever I have learned so far. Great video 😊
you helped sm! i have been stuck i have been following a grammar curriculum but i have felt like ive been learning nothing bc i cant necessarily speak? anyways lol your tips have helped me alot and not be stuck anymore and learn how to use what im learning
All I can say is: Don’t give up Like it gets easier, I would feel so unmotivated because I would create my own sentences and they weren’t correct. Then I would just cry😭 But the best feeling ever is when you finally make the correct sentence with the grammar structure. Also, I found the Korean number system and all the different counters so confusing at first, but the more you expose yourself to it, the more you understand. To anyone reading this: Keep going!! 화이팅!!
With the shadowing kdrama part, do you have the Korean subtitles on then speak before they say it and then correct it or do you just listen, pause and speak? Also do you learn the meaning of the sentences?
I’m sorry but YOUR SO CUTE 😩 and I’m going to tell the truth I used to not like u.....for some reason (I used to be super judgmental I’m not like that anymore though) but now I freaking love u and your one of the people I look up to most frequently!!! Thank u for being a good role model for me and giving me motivation 💜💜🥺🥺🥺
so its taking me 2 years to learn all the basics of French and grammar, still don't feel confident to use it ; how ever this is how I learn languages ( patients ) I am on my 4th language. I learn by sound and patterns so it takes me longer but I do enjoy the journey... thank you for your imput : )
Then, slow down and take it easier, we are all different. I haven't even started learning it, just preparing for it. I started this process a year ago, I simply make only the effort my brain can sustain. I'm not a failure, just different, my motivation is different from other people's as well. Stop comparing yourself with others, remember, you are unique !
nuu that was not the point🥺 how long have you been learning? cause it's already half a year since i started and i know barely nothing... i looking for a "study partner" so maybe we can support each other and figure out together what we're doing wrong or how to take it easier
Such an honest and accurate answer to this super common question. Nice!

Glad you think so!!!
i generally just learn to be able to read/understand, i don’t have plans to speak it bcos im already socially awkward lmao
Same idk speaking is important but I just focus more on reading and understanding
Same😅😅i really like consuming content in other languages.. not necessarily speaking them😅😅😅
Yeah but I wanna show off my speaking skills too to my friends 🤣
Same here, speaking is less important, I live in Europe. I’ll be happy with understanding and being able to write in the beginning.
It seems like SUCH an interesting language to learn but I can barely speaking English for goodness sake so I don’t know how that’d go😭✋
Hey everyone out there who are struggling to learn Korean!
Ive an languageblr for Korean studies, so if you are interested, find me at tumblr @Koreansegye
I hope this helps and all the very best for upcoming learning sessions.
Take care, stay safe and study well. Hwaiting!
omg infinite korean is so cute thank you!!!

Compare how you were X months/weeks/days ago and you'll be amazed every single time how well you've improved.

Let’s become fluent together Natalia~!!!
ahahaha i'm also very competitive so I get it!!
how long did it take for you take finish learning basic things? aka like vowels, consonants, shapes, animals etc.

When your pronunciation is spot on but you can’t form an understandable sentence yet... 😥😭

After 3 years l understand a bit, can’t talk and I still enjoy the learning a lot, and I get better every day, slooooowly
천천히. 천천히. 천천히.
@@NataliaGarza Yes! Exactly!!
recording my voice and listening to how it sound is something sadly I cannot do, as I live in a house with thin walls and my housemates are strangers and I don't want to be ridiculed, but I did thought about it and sounds like a good practice.
Let them lose their time while you do something productive and enjoyable 😄
words and expressions not in official books. you can get exposure to those by dramas or reading webtoons. i dont have time for dramas so i read webtoons and watch game shows lol (i dont mind leaving off in the middle of a game show but i cant stand not finishing an episode)
adding to the other commenter. if youre afraid to be judged for learning korean. i went through that too. i studied in secret for 6 months!! then i got so obsessed i quit caring. at first i was judged, but now those same people are just impressed at how much i was able to learn on my own. they once judged me and still low key do, but they also have to acknowledge what i accomplished. once i came out and quit caring, i took down some walls i had up and made a loooot of improvements.
recording yourself is better so you can HEAR where you are going wrong, but it helps to speak outloud even if you dont record it. so whisper to yourself for now :) your roommates wont hear you and youll still imrpove. i hope you eventually get the courage to record yourself though~
Topic well articulated don't you just love her wisdom

Oh yay!!! Dude once you start listening for when to breathe, you can't stop HAHA
I started taking classes with an itaki teacher related to my work, and it’s amazing how enjoyable and how much we talk, it’s amazing.

Join together and you'll become masters.
honestly its such a good tip to give yourself a kind of headstart to confidence for conversations by practicing those early questions!

Your explanation is perfect. I have really loved it
Each time Natalia make a video she becomes my favourite language youtuber.
I believe a specialist dictionary is in use for any language, whether it's your own or not, have a look on the market for it.
noo i just discovered your channel a few days ago and now the KakaoTalk Group is full although i really would need it😭
The best practice of learning a language is to be in the environment of said country.

That's great! Definitely recommend you keep doing that~!!
@@NataliaGarza I want to meet with you for improving my Korean language
Thank you so much I'm like thankful for you 🤗
You are amazing ❤️
Good points
i’m sad i didn’t get the time to join the gc ahaha please if you do make a new one in the future :)
you helped sm! i have been stuck i have been following a grammar curriculum but i have felt like ive been learning nothing bc i cant necessarily speak? anyways lol your tips have helped me alot and not be stuck anymore and learn how to use what im learning
All I can say is: Don’t give up
Like it gets easier, I would feel so unmotivated because I would create my own sentences and they weren’t correct. Then I would just cry😭
But the best feeling ever is when you finally make the correct sentence with the grammar structure.
Also do you learn the meaning of the sentences?
ur so funny😂 thanks for the advice this really helped. u deserve more subs😁
Awww thanks~~ I'm glad you enjoyed the video~

I’m sorry but YOUR SO CUTE 😩 and I’m going to tell the truth I used to not like u.....for some reason (I used to be super judgmental I’m not like that anymore though) but now I freaking love u and your one of the people I look up to most frequently!!! Thank u for being a good role model for me and giving me motivation 💜💜🥺🥺🥺
Love your videos keep going
Thank you! Will do!
so its taking me 2 years to learn all the basics of French and grammar, still don't feel confident to use it ; how ever this is how I learn languages ( patients ) I am on my 4th language. I learn by sound and patterns so it takes me longer but I do enjoy the journey... thank you for your imput : )
I really started crying during this video cause I feel like a failure lmao
awwww im sure you’re doing great bb!! 🤍🥺
Then, slow down and take it easier, we are all different. I haven't even started learning it, just preparing for it. I started this process a year ago, I simply make only the effort my brain can sustain. I'm not a failure, just different, my motivation is different from other people's as well. Stop comparing yourself with others, remember, you are unique !
nuu that was not the point🥺
how long have you been learning? cause it's already half a year since i started and i know barely nothing... i looking for a "study partner" so maybe we can support each other and figure out together what we're doing wrong or how to take it easier
😂 Relatable!!
@@ecampbell3759 Are you still looking for a study partner? Haha
