Learn to play classical guitar without fingernails in just 10 days with Brandon Acker 🎸 classicalguitar-pro.com/p/no-nails-in-10-days
Is this course suitable for beginners? Or is it better to start with "Classical guitar pro vol.1"?
@@daniillandau If you cannot read music and do not have a basic understanding of good technique, it is best to start with Classical guitar pro and then proceed to the no nails course :)
If my English is not good, is it possible with spanish subtitles?
Yes there are Spanish subtitles available :)
@brandonacker Having played both with and without nails and also creating content on both, which do you prefer?
It's an honour to have you play something I arranged Brandon, thank you so much. Your performance is breathtakingly beautiful🥰
Glad to know it's Shaun Murray's arrangement. I have the guess when I hear Brandon Acker's performance. I had transcribed your performance years ago. Now I don't have to do it again.😊
This is one of the most beautiful arrangements I've ever heard .
I didn’t realize that Brandon didn’t arrange it until now, so I do want to give credit where it’s due - fantastic work! Thank you so much!
Excellent arrangement--downloaded, thanks!
@@StevenBornfeld Thank you! 🙂
Just Beautiful!!! It can't be said any better than the way Emilio Pujol put it, "The tone of a string struck with a fingertip possesses an intrinsic beauty, which affects the deepest feelings of our sensibility, just as air and light permeate space. It’s notes are incorporeal, as might be the notes of an ideally expressive and responsive harp…this style stands for the transmission, without impurities, of the deepest vibrations of our emotions”. Thank you Sir!
Up vote for the no nails approach to your playing 😁👍
I was introduced to this beautiful piece of music back in 1991 when I was completely drawn in and mesmerized by Ken Burns’ documentary, The Civil War. I was in my early 20s then, and both the documentary and this song have stayed with me ever since, quite deeply and profoundly. I still well up with tears when I hear it.
Same here. I can't ever get through this tune without getting all emotional. It's so weird, it makes me feel sad for all the people who have died in wars, are dying in wars now, and will die in future wars.
I concur. Gets every time…to both.
As I'm part Irish and play classical guitar this gets me and I love it .
That was fantastic. Beautiful!! No nails is a softer attack and a more expressive approach. Thank you for sharing your talent and skill with us.
My no-nail self feels so represented.
I wanted to thank you personally for posting all those wonderful music pieces. You are a really maestro and play very emotional and beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing :D
Just a quick note from a stranger. I haven't played a musical instrument in 10 years, but before that was in the Marine Corps band. I was so burned out from musical playing that I can't even think about playing again. Watching your videos is stirring that itch in me again. Thank you for the inspiration, and perhaps I will one day be able to play again.
You can .you really can take music back into your heart . Xxx❤
Delightful and gentle as it should be on this piece.
I like that description. He does play very gentle and delicately.
I rarely ever remember of liking the videos I watch, regardless of how much I like them. However, when I watch your videos, I am always drawn to liking it. Brandon, you make me love music and more, each day that passes.
This is just beautiful. Thank you
Appalachian Old Time musicians are notoriously conservative when it comes to incorporating newly composed tunes into the tradition, but this is one tune that just about everyone agrees ought to be an old song even if it’s not. Jay Unger wrote a civil war lament that never was!
bro this is amazing
Ahhhh Brandon, I smashed the like button before I even played it b/c I knew it would be absolutely gorgeous, & you did not disappoint!! Goosebumps upon goosebumps!! This has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever written, & your arrangement is ‘chef’s kiss’ - God bless you for blessing us with this today!
it sounds beautiful and I just love Brandon's touch on the guitar. His tempo and approach to this farewell melody is nothing short of authentic and wonder.
Sent me down a rabbit hole checking the history and other performances. The tune feels familiar but I couldn’t remember ever hearing it. Surprised it was written so recently.
Beautiful, gentle playing, Brandon. You get a gorgeous, warm sound using this technique. God bless.
This has long been one of my favorite pieces to listen to, and hearing it arranged and played so well makes me truly happy. You’ve made my day man, thank you
"Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters."
~Norman Maclean
Thank you so much for your no nail approach and your profound musicality. i am now taking your class and already enjoying a lot after the first lesson.
I'm happy to hear that! Thanks Markus and enjoy my course:)
Thanks Brandon. Your sweet, mellow no nails sound is perfect for this achingly beautiful, iconic music.
I have a very fond memory of performing this for our last song in 8th grade orchestra at the middle school graduation ceremony. Probably my favorite piece I ever played as part of an orchestra. So beautiful and sentimental
Those quick moves up and down the neck ... amazing
Poignant and immaculately played.
It doesn’t get more beautiful than this on guitar.
I love this tune and have been working on it for the last few months. Although it is an American tune it has a real Celtic feel. You played it superbly.
Been waiting for this one sins the blindfolded guitar comparison with Marshall
The superlatives about how you play this composition have already been said. But you and your talent, my dearest maestro, to create emotion from little black dotes bring tears to my eyes.
Gorgeous interpretation!
Haven't found an instrument this isn't wonderful on. Did my own Highland bagpipe setting of it and love it on that instrument as well (collapsed to a single octave, of course; and with a chanter that can do a flattened 3rd).
One of my favorites to play on my mandolin. Expertly done. Your intonation is sublime.
so funny you put this out... I heard you play this years ago I feel like and tried to learn it and found Shaun Murray's arrangement... came back to it a couple weeks ago and then you put this out. Glad to hear it fully - Salutations!
This was the very first song I learned and I still play it today.
Precision, feeling, dynamics...can it get any better than this ??
Beautiful tone. Beautiful articulation. Enjoy hearing your playing.
Yes very good time but not perfect.
@@davidrobinson7260 Perfection is a lie.
@@joseph2832 idk what you mean, like I’m not sure if you’re saying something profound or referencing something but yeah.
@@davidrobinson7260 Good luck to you stranger!
@@joseph2832 lol I love your spirit!
So glad you finally uploaded a full version of this - I remember rushing to learn it after hearing it in your blindfold challenge videos, and now we have a full version! (It sounds incredible half step down btw)
It’s good that you have found your own technique,
That was wonderful. Thanks so much. Praise the Lord
Amen
One of my favorite songs. Sound wonderful on guitar. I play it on a linear tuned ukulele and that’s good too. Thanks gor this lovely performance.
Dude... just.. "wow".
...every time.
Thank you so much for a piece of soulful and gentle reality in these wild crazy times 🕯️🎶🌼
Well done and refreshing to hear the beauty of simplicity. (Sometimes trickier to play! Like riding a bicycle slowly) :)
Good god I love this song so much.
such a lovely piece and well played
Sehr,sehr schön!!😊
Why are you so talented!??!?! I love you, man. Thanks for sharing & please keep it up. All the best from Sofia, Bulgaria =]
So beautiful! Thank you
Lovely tone and dynamics! I'm hearing hints of 'Waltzing Matilda' in the melody...
Soooo lovely. Your rendition of this song is perfection! ❤❤❤❤❤👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏I enjoy this sound of no nails. Very smooth and soothing..
Beautiful!
So, so very fine! Thank you for sharing!
So Lovely!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful arrangement and performance. One of my favorite "movie" melodies along with Stanley Myers' "Cavatina".
Sounds just beautiful, thank you!
I loved this movie, this song in particular always stood out. Great rendition!
A lovely performance of a lovely song.
Absolutely beautiful!
Goose bumps!❤
I definitely didn’t expect to be hearing folk music on your channel. I love it.
This is absolutely lovely - beautiful melody and a sympathetic arrangement of it to bring out the best
This sounds so much better on guitar than violin lmao
Thems fighting words 😂
As a violinist who has played this song solo on many a paid gig for the last 30 years, I agree but I think there's probably a time and place for either/both. A duet properly arranged would be nice.
Also, I was surprised this version wasn't in drop D although that would definitely complicate some voicings and fingerings.
Most things do.
Both were used in the documentary. So I fully disagree.
Absolutely beautiful.
I love this song I’m playing on classical guitar for my spring concert. I absolutely love your playing!
Beautiful rendition. I normally hear this tune in bluegrass circles which is a very different take.
Beautiful indeed, but it's strange because I was thinking it was a traditional Scottish folk tune.
Thank you Brandon .
Loved it!
Hey! That was fantastic! Play some Sor next.
This is absolutely beautiful brandon
Can you please make a cover of la cathedral by barrios I would love to hear it from you ❤🪐
Love your performance, love the arrangement, and love the tone of your gorgeous guitar!
Bellísimo sonido y una gran interpretación. Muchas gracias, Brandon.
Very brilliant. Made my afternoon. Thanks.
My favourite song I play this a lot at folk meetings beautiful ❤
Beautiful interpretation Brandon. The guitar is sounding better than ever
Beautiful
That was majestic! Thank you for sharing your incredible performance of this song! As you know it's quite expensive to attend concerts so I am very grateful for the opporutnity to hear a concert level profesisonal playing. This does not mean I wouldn't happily pay. If i lived in America I would love to see you perform live ! I loved the live stream concert you did a while back. It was at a church with opera singers . It was so much fun and was an absolute pleasure to hear you live! ☺️
Wishing you all the best !! :)
Beautiful.
A beautiful rendition, sir! Mournful, yet bright and hopeful.
Yes this 20th c tune can stand proudly among the very best of earlier American tunes such as shanendoa. Bautifully played on guitar solo It sounds it's best perhaps. on fiddle and guitar
I love this song. Great cover
now I have a new piece to learn, beautifully played!
Beautifully played thank you
This is beautiful, but I dread the day that I hear it at my grandfather's funeral. He heard my highschool band play it and requested it. I learned (and subsequently forgot) the fiddle part. I wish I had more time to relearn and move people like this moved me.
What a beautiful piece. Well done, Brandon. Your playing is absolutely amazing!
Very beautiful!
Great work Brandon.
Excellent playing, and very enjoyable!
Beautiful! ❤
As usual you nailed it! and without nails! Great performance Brandon!
Well executed. Sounds lovely as well
Very beautiful
Beautiful playing
This is the most American sounding piece of music by far. Lovely playing man.
Lovely
stunning..
Thank you!
Beautifully played , well done . I enjoyed that , thank you. . Bill .
Thank you Brandon this was my dads favorite song
NY tune!
Very nice arrangement!
Bravo good sir!
Very beautiful, You've made a wonderful job of that. Thankyou. I'm a folkie, finger style guitarist, who has often played that lovely tune, on a piano accordion. Food for though.t
