I like the way you talk about modesty. It's nice to hear something different than "Dress from your hair to your toes" or "modesty doesn't matter anyway." I have a great family and they haven't said either of those things to me but it seems like everybody else does :) It's also so hard to find modest clothing now days. I've started sewing my own clothes because I don't like what they sell in stores.
    Congratulations on 1000 subscribers!
    PS
I like the "dressing decently" you mentioned. I wish people did that more! And that the modest spirit is more important than modest dress.

I've just found your channel and it's so encouraging! I've been struggling with the idea of "modesty" over the last year. I always thought I dressed quite modesty, but my husband has had some serious faith related view shifts over the last year which resulted in even higher standards for modesty! I've been really trying to work out my own ideas around modesty so it's great to hear your thoughts and God's word on the topic!

You need to figure out what modesty is to you and not just what he says it means. His standards may not be God's standards for you. I hope that you spend a lot of time in prayer around this topic.

When Paul is talking about head coverings. He is potentially talking about here; How it is proper for a woman to adorn long hair.
And proper for a man to have short hair.
    Just some food for thought.

Ez 16: 4 - 14 and Esther 2: show that we should care about our bodies and clothing albeit with modesty. Healthy eating and exercise, too.
My old church folk said we should only buy clothing from charity shops and jumble sales. INSANE. I learned the Lord likes to have us dress very well...quality wise. ❤

Personally modesty is super important to me but my mom is a bit… Too chill about modesty 😅 I don’t like low tank tops or revealing tops I don’t want short shorts especially for swimming and I don’t want revealing tops for swimming for jewelry I don’t find it important it’s not about looks and only Gods opinion matters so if I wear it they’re just little animal stud earrings and animal necklaces ❤ I loved the video ❤

So first I'm autistic so most of my modest dress choices stem from me accomodating severe sensory issues and practicality and not huge personal convictions. I think the definition modesty changes over time and as long as nothing is falling out of ones shirt or pants It's up to the individual. I personally hate all pants except leggings, i can feel the seams and it's like a second skin but it's rough in texture and it super overwhelming so I wear skirts, but I work with kids and animals and love to spent time outside so I wear them loose and they're midi skirts, so they're pretty long. They're also a very soft lightweight denim. I have a couple dresses that are above the knee but those are like special occasion dresses like for when I am on a date with my fiance or for church. My shirts uhhh I prefer to just steal my fiance's, we're long distance too so he doesn't get them back for months 😂. I also have a couple loose cropped t shirts from Walmart they have a high neckline and my skirts are high waisted so nothing actually ever shows it just shows that I have a waist. I'm slightly bigger and apple shaped, so I need all the definition I can get. I generally wear the same-ish thing every day (except special occasions) because again autism. It's routine and it's comforting knowing that something can always be the same with everything else that's going on and changing as i get older. Personally when it comes to swimsuits I'm fine with 2 piece swimsuits as long as my bum and cleavage isn't hanging out. It makes sense that one wears less when they're swimming. It's also easier to go to the bathroom in. I use my towel as a cover up when I'm not in the water. Personally I wear head coverings because some days brushing my hair is a Herculean task (autism, it's the bristles) and no one can see it if it's covered up. I can also match my headscarves to my outfits. I did get bangs to make me look less like a nun. I just like things that I can clean in, run around in, play in, get up to shenaniganery etc.

The Bible has been translated from the language it was written in and some meanings have been changed in translation. If reading it cover to cover is an interest for you you should definitely invest time in learning to read it in the language it was written in to make sure you’re getting the most accurate information! 🙏

Thanks for sharing. I find it interesting to learn about other’s country’s culture. Sadly what you say is true. The world will continue to pull Christians farther from the Lord. That’s why I’m trying to put my thoughts out there and hopefully cause Christians to think about important issues. It seem insignificant, but God can use even the weakest and most inconsequential for His glory 😀 Blessings

I believe God told men in the Bible to wear pants. Trousers had never been worn by women until 100 years ago, but men had them since the time of Moses. You should do more research on that. Dearly, sister in Christ

    • @NilsWeber-mb5hg
      @NilsWeber-mb5hg 8 місяців тому

Hello sister. There is no evidence of men wearing pants at the time yet. If you research what OT Israelite men dressed like, you will see that they were what we now call "tunics", not pants. For pants did not exist at the very time yet. Women had to wear different clothing from men, see Deuteronomy 22:5. What was their difference? Here a commentary: "Women's garments were probably longer (compare Nahum 3:5, Jeremiah 13:22, Jeremiah 13:26, Isaiah 47:2), had sleeves (2Samuel 13:19), presumably were brighter colors and more ornamented, and also may have been of finer material". Now, does that make sense?
It is indeed better to wear a dress as a woman, but at the same time, I see no reason to forbid them for women as long as they are not tight or short and as long as they look different from male trousers. Blessings.

@@NilsWeber-mb5hg Good evening sur, which clothing should we than not wear, because it belongs to male only?
Did you know the word Hose or bridget means trausers/ Pants now and in the Bible?
God instructed that men wear trousers/ Underpants under their tunics so that their genitals would not be exposed as they approached the tablenacle.
Also the term Gird up their Loins as a man or to Cover your feet (means going to the bathroom for a man) should give you an indication that women had nothing under their dresses. In fact they did not even have underwear and were not intended for fighting or fishing so much so that men could tuck their tunics into their trousers. It was only for man.
Our old generation knew this until the time of the feminists...Does it surprise you that we now live in a time of gender confusion? I think that in 100 years from now it will also be considered normal for boys or men to wear skirts and dresses. Many like you will then say, yes in Bible times both men and women wore dresses. Because this is what happened to women 100 years ago.
Please let us stop the ignorance we as Christians should put things right by making a difference in how we dress. God wants to see that difference. If not, what was God talking about in Deuteronomy? I clearly see an instruction and a sin there, but many do not want to admit it.

@@corisegatavu2204 Hello beloved. I agree both genders must make a difference. I do have a few questions, tho. Must I as a male wear a tunic above my pants? Keep in mind there is no dressing that no pagan would wear. There are no clothes a Christian wear, only those they must not wear. Am I dressing appropriate enough in a t shirt and long wide pants as a male? What do you think by the law written into your hearts sister? I‘d love to know!
PS: I never said men wore dresses. Tunics are something completely different. Another question would be kilts like in Scotland. My position would be that the way Scots wear them is biblically not acceptable, it would however be different if they were longer and had pants under them. Keep in mind - what do you believe, which areas make a man look effeminate and a woman masculine? As for make up, I believe both genders are to avoid it considering it connections to jezebel - witchcraft. A woman does certainly appear feminine without make up. What would make her masculine? Pants? It depends, I think, if they consist of the same fabric as male ones, yes. Dresses are better. It is by no means black and white either. If a dress does not cover the knees, it must not be worn. As for short pants, since men do not cause lust, I believe men can wear them, I know many brethren who do, I attempt to avoid it, but will not judge those who do. As for women however they are taboo, because women have a higher potential to draw lust, but I do not see how such is the case in wide, long pants as long as they are not jeans or something like that. Men however, I believe, can wear jeans as long as they are not tighht.
PPS: women had nothing under their dresses? We must keep in mind this was based on the hot semi arid location. What however in my zone, where winters tend to get freezing cold? Should they also dress in the way those in a desert climate do? Keep in mind, we are under the New Covenant. Which does not make crossdressing OK, but are the requirements all for the NT Israel? No underwear for anyone? Would be easier for a bathroom break, but I can imagine a lot of Christians would be disguisted by the thought. All this is something that is cultural. Unlike the headcovering, which is a New Testament practice and universal, see 1 Corinthians 11. paul wrote this to be for all churches. And he did give laws for the women how to dress also, see 1 Timothy 2:9. No make up or big earrings which we sadly too often see on Pentecostal women. Modesty is a must. The OT had a lot of women with fancy clothes, in the NT however thefocus is put on the inward and Paul tells Christian women not to dress anything fancy. Now, can one appear Christian alone from their clothing? Certainly not, but there, and we would agree, are clothings that disqualify one from being Christian. Female pants however is not something I would put into that category.
Be blessed in the name of the Lord!

@@NilsWeber-mb5hg blessed day brother. I see you have many questions and I will do my best to answer only those questions where I have already gained an understanding of the word of God. The Scottish skirts for men are Pagan and therefore an abomination. The Bible gives us two commandments. One is wear modest clothes, for both men and women. The second is you shall not wear clothing that belongs to the gender other than that which you have. If we all know there are only two genders and therefore clothing for men and women. Women don't wear pants and men don't wear skirts. As for protection from the weather or in countries where the girls are unsafe on the street, you are allowed to wear pants under your dress. Leggings and such that serve as underwear. Men should also dress more modestly. Nowadays skinny jeans and ripped pants and they should be mentioned. We do not mock the poor. If you choose to wear a long t-shirt/tunic, this is fine, but if you wear wide trousers and you see no reason to do so, it is also fine. We have freedom in Jesus, yes, but also no license to sin. If we know something is wrong and we do it anyway, we are sinning against our conscience. Let's be modest and show a difference in the two genders in the way we dress. And not only that, but also dress differently than the world. Your outwardly appearance should preach without words that you are a child of God. God cares how you represent him. When I stopped wearing pants, I got more respect, not to mention a headscarf. That is a sacrifice that pleases God. Putting on make-up is vain and a sin. We are not liars and we do not correct God. The Bible says everything is permitted, but not everything is necessary. It is different for those who are ill or have had an accident than those who do it out of vanity. God Behold our heart, and the heart is full of wickedness, saith the Lord. Therefore let us repent and make no friends with the world, for that is enmity against God. Finally, I would like to add that my answer does not come from an judgemental heart, for I was once like that, but now I want to serve the Lord also in how I present myself. I hope I was able to answer your questions. May the peace of God be with you.
