No doubt in my mind John Mayer is one of the best guitarists who has ever lived, his versatility on acoustic and electric guitar is incredible, his lyrical content is meaningful, he’s played with anyone who is anyone as well… Look up on UA-cam ; “Eric Clapton on John Mayer as a Master guitarist who doesn’t know how good he is” cutting tracks with Clapton in record time just about says it all for me, as a musician myself I learn off John watching him, he is brilliant, but don’t believe me his music and songs speak for themselves! 🎸🎤
I freaking love early John Mayer. It was different, he was way more acoustic oriented yet still perfectly experimental, still perfectly skilled on the guitar, and still a songwriting genius. I mean, I love the modern John just as much as the next guy, but damn the early stuff was brilliant too. It’s interesting seeing how his sound changed and developed through his albums. The acoustic performances, hot damn.
Anybody asking for tabs, whether you're good or not. I challenge you to feel the groove and watch him and listen to figure it out yourself and then look up the chords once you get them down. You'll explode as a guitar player if you keep doing this instead of tabs
But then they'll have to spend months learning musical theory trying to figure out that he's playing a F#6 and a Dbmaj9 in the verse, and they'll wonder where the hell the 6 and major 9th comes from and what it is. But you're right though, you would explode as a guitar player, you'd just wouldn't know what you're playing.
John is very VERY underrated. In fact a lot of people will barely acknowledge him for what he is. Grammy's are given to even the worst of musicians who has barely done anything to reach their succes, but look good. John has mastered his instrument within loads of areas, and keeps on evolving and developing! He is one of the few who has managed to reach out to a whole new crowd and give them blues and country and such. A lot of this still don't impress people, only because they are stubborn...
Man I fucking hate this guy. Not because I don't like his music or his personality, I just hate how hard it is to play his fucking songs because of how talented he is. It's fucking stupid how good he is.
this whole cd is great. its hard to hear for me now, seems a life time away the period of time I was listening to this. I had things a lot better then then I do now but didn't know it and my Father was still alive. Thats life, don't let it get sad. Make good decisions and don't hold petty grudges.

I think my favorite aspect of John is that he never hesitates to make you say "Wow!" That one word is what i utter out of my mouth every time i listen to ANYTHING he does. He impresses me wheater he has a full band, just his voice and an acoustic or electric guitar, just his voice, just his guitar, etc... I am never let down. Keep feeding my musical soul John!!!!!!!!
Oh my good God :O!~ It's just so unbelievable how amazing he is in live performances; it just boggles the mind ~_~. I hope to god I'll make it to some of his concerts this year.
definitely not overrated, I play guitar myself for 4 years and i have to say his song writing is just phenomenon. I also listen to many other artists as well but i have to give credit to where it belong. At least you have to try playing "neon", "why georgia", "stop this train"...to see how much work/soul he put in.
I remember when I first saw this video years ago, I thought there was somebody else playing as well cause he plays so damn well. I can play this song but I never can keep up the rhythm while singing.
Found this masterpiece a decade ago. It recently randomly popped into my mind. Can't believe I let this greatness go! ❤️ His passion and talent is just too much! ❤️

I love this tune and facet of John! It's very optimistic and upbeat, like regardless of the outcome, he's going to 'pay it no mind.' John Mayer puts so much emotion in his playing, shows alot of soul. Fantastic, simply fantastic. John Mayer, my idol, aswell an idol for thousands more.
Reading music is no doubt very useful to some, but really to a pop/rock musician (like John) it would be hardly ever needed. Why learn something your not going to use? There are to many other more important things to learn.. Timing and making a clear concise type of sound are far more important and overlooked by almost all guitar players which is a shame..
