This is somewhat bittersweet as his first son, Julian, was put aside, living in G Britain with his mum. All these years later they seem to have resolved it. Must have been difficult for Julian watch all the warm 'daddy & Sean"' thing be applauded.
John was busy give us The Beatles at the time. You can't have it both ways. John recognised his failing and put substantial effort into becoming a better person. Do you judge everyone by their behavious in their 20's?
My opinion of a celebrity's behavior is just like yours..."Judgement" is a pejorative tossed in... by you.... because I disagree with your opinion.. Julian's feelings, as described by Julian in mainstream interviews, informed my opinion. But my, my, didn't you get all judgemental about ME? Pot, meet Kettle.
This song comes from John's last album before he was...well...you know. John took time out, stayed home and took care of his young boy, learning to cook, stuff like that. Here, he wrote about his 'time-out' experience where he stopped being a rock star. If you haven't done 'Instant Karma', I suggest it. The song comes early in his solo career.
This is my absolute favorite John Lennon song! Just him explaining where he was and what he was up to! Working Class Hero is another great one! I'm losing you Lennon with Cheap Trick is a rocker!
John took a few years off when Sean was born, to focus on family, and reevaluate his life and his music. In 1980, he came back with a whole new attitude and some great music. 40 years old, he was shot down in his prime.
Sean Lennon was born on his father’s birthday on October 9, 1975. John took a five year hiatus to become a house husband and raise Sean. In November, 1980 he released the Double Fantasy album, which included this song. Also on the album is Beautiful Boy ( Darling Boy) that he wrote for Sean. Sadly, he was murdered shortly after on December 8, 1980.
Sean Lennon had a keyboard solo in bubblegum dog (mgmt) which was released a few months ago. Go down the mgmt rabbit hole. You won’t regret it. Best band around today
@@futurereflections4097 I’ve been listening to Sean for quite awhile now, but will specifically check out your suggestion. I’m very impressed with his growth and accomplishments. Having grown up with the Beatles (I’m 70), and have always connected to John’s solo work, I’ve closely followed Julian and Sean. Two individual artists who have found their own paths, and are brilliant in their own right❤️
I love all the Beatles. But give George some love too. His "All Things Must Pass" album is considered one of the best solo from the Fab Four. That said this last album from John is stunning too.
This sounds like a guy who is genuinely happy. For John, who was a tormented guy, this was a new feeling. You can really hear it in all of his songs on Double Fantasy. The only exception is I'm Losing You, which is my favorite on there, but it's a song he had written years earlier when him and Yoko were fighting. It's a really pissed off song.
Great track and reaction spot on as usual. NB: In fairness Queen are in that cheat code too, they were the first band to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, all members penned hits. I hope you dive into their early albums, it's some journey.
This song and video made me feel sad. It seemed that after a lifetime of turmoil, John had finally found peace and happiness - then to have it all snatched away...so tragic. I love the Beatles - together and separately. They were my first love - I remember seeing them on Ed Sullivan show when I was in grade school, and theirs was the first album I owned. Bless your soul and rest in peace John.
The Nixon administration tried to have John Lennon deported. A Judge in NYC ruled against the government lawyers and thought the deportation order was politically based. On the same day his son with Yoko was born. So incredibly sad that things ended like they did. 😢

I totally agree with you. Even Paul wrote Hey Jude to console Julian when his parents went through their divorce. John was nowhere to be found…

I love this song but it is bittersweet. It seems like he was a man that was beginning to conquer some of his demons.
Thanks Biz for reacting to this great song, I’m 64 and just cried while the song was playing, Rip John!

Gimme Some Truth; #9 Dream; Give Peace A Chance; Jealous Guy
John was writing his best stuff just when he was murdered.
Beautiful song explaining his situation for the last 5 years of his life. Check out Instant Karma or Imagine next
" Beautiful Boy" ...more of Lennon...as you said, 2.0...❤
A song for Sean.
So beautiful, his death was so tragic still makes me sad. Thanks Biz
I love this song. You need to listen to George's solo stuff. May change your mind. Even Ringo had a few post-Beatles hits. They were just so talented.
🙏❤🌹 John 🌹❤🙏
John was killed 2 months after that birthday party. And a few months after that vacation in Bermuda.
My favorite post-Beatles Lennon song. He finally figured out what life was all about after all those years in la-la land
The record industry never understood why he wanted to step away and raise his Son.

Hey Biz I agree with your Lennon vibes. Other than this and Imagine, my other favorite is Nobody Told Me.
Come on Biz!!! Please react to John Lennons ....Mind Games....official video please!💞✌️
…..well said Biz, Great reaction ! Miss John 🙏🏻❤️

That brilliant classical + reggae undercurrent hits in the second chorus: sublime. Otherwise my fave from this album...Woman a close second.
Rip John
Paul wrote mostly pop songs……great writer and musician…..John wrote the more intellectual songs….more introspective..
John's was mostly biographical
Great track and reaction spot on as usual.

😢...what a loss. Great reaction and commentary Biz.
