The line "People say I'm lazy" refers to people criticizing him for taking time off from the music buisiness between 1975-1980 to be a househusband and raise his young son, Sean. That's what this song is about.
The other part of this is that "Paul McCartney" was sending messages and in a way this is a response to Paul. For example, Paul's song "Monkberry Moon Delight" has the lyrics "Ketchup (ketchup) Soup and puree (soup and puree) Don't get left behind (get left behind)". A nickname for John was "ketchup" because he didn't like his own voice and wanted them to put ketchup on it. QUOTE: "“Can’t you smother it with tomato ketchup or something?”. Soup is George and his Lentil soup. Ringo is puree (the oldest).
And letting something like the Beatles go , " Riding on The Merry go Round "..They are wrong ,, That time was at an end for him , Is what he says , He had to let it go ,
You hit that right on the head! John Lennon was a jokester and had a great sense of humor. With that being said, he also had an extremely warm heart and a deep tenderness which shows in many of his songs. Love your reaction. Have you listened to “Imagine”? It’s his masterpiece. More of John and the Beatles please. 🥰
John had a dark, angry side. He could be quite vicious. I don't think that detracts from him one bit. He was quite human and had a very rough early life. Humor (or is that humour?) was his defense and coping mechanism.
@@armorer94 There were many sides to John and not all good. I feel that's what made him such an interesting guy. His treatment towards women in his younger days is deplorable and yet he could be very tender and loving. Many of the great ones are different. The Beatles manager George Martin said John was a little strange but said not like weird but just odd in the most wonderful way. I think John is one of the most interesting people I've come across. I wouldn't exactly say rough childhood, when his aunt Mimi took him in at age five he had a good foundation to build off of. The other three Beatles were lower middle class growing up. John was upper middle class being raised in Mendips which was a pretty nice neighborhood. I think he probably struggled with why am I in this house while my mother lives a few miles down the road as a boy. Who knows what experiences in ones life shapes them and when you reach John's status in life like being in the biggest group in history there is always going to be myth rumors along with it so who really knows except the ones closest to the person. The lines can be become blurred. The quality I liked about John was if you asked him a question you got a straight up answer, he didn't care what you thought with Paul who was always charming and diplomatic. I feel that these two oil and water personalities (George Martin said John was the eternal pessimist and Paul optimist) is probably what made them so great. Whatever, John was a complex guy and too me the most interesting guy in popular music history.
@@armorer94 One more thought here. John in no way was neglected. He was doted on by all five Smith sisters (his mother's Maiden name) and had plenty of love. He had many fond memories of times with his cousins and half sister growing up, so who knows what shapes a person. I do feel at the time of his death that he was at a very good place in his life and very content in his life.
Lennon became a "house husband". He stayed home and took care of the children. Obviously, people made comments about him doing those things instead of making music.
I think you're the first one I've seen react to this one, good for you. Great song let's you know where he was at right before his death. He was very content.
"Stand By Me" is pretty good. It's currently at 120 million views. BTW, check for the Lennon songs that have "ultimate mix" in the title. They were remixed recently and are the best sounding versions out there. They sound good in headphones.
Beautiful boy from same album always hits me hard. He tells his son Sean life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans. And weeks after it’s release he was murdered. What a loss for us , but the Lord gets to hear him every night since
Love your reactions. I found it slightly ironic when you were talking about “just enjoy your life”. Poor John was murdered around the time the song was released. Keep it up Tysheen! Your voice is nice.👍
John had taken time off from singing and activism to raise his son Sean. With this album he'd just jumped back into the limelight and was making great music again, and that's when he was murdered.
The lyrics about being lazy doin what I’m doin were the decision to give up the life of rocker in favor spending time with and adoring his wife and baby boy. This album was a coming out, if you will, and returning to recording again. I think one of his most insightful and revealing songs. Thank you for reacting to this often overlooked Lennon gem.
Just some info on the song. It was written after he left the Beatles. It was written to express how he felt at the time. He dealt with super stardom and wanted to be with his family and just enjoy life. He had to let it go. When you listen to the words and watch the video again, it’ll be more heartfelt because now you know 🙂
John decided to leave the music business for 4-5 years to raise his son and be with his family. His first album after this was the one you are listening to. Soon after he was murdered.
Haha brilliant reaction. Laughter will keep you young forever, no matter how many years you live. It's key. It really is. Keeps us looking younger too. He's talking about his break from the 'merry-go-round' of performing and being constantly in the spot light. New subscriber here, a Scotsman watching from Ireland! Please could you react to David Bowie 'where are we now' which is so relevant after his death. You made me smile with your obvious love of John's spirit. 😊
Hello Mam! Nice to met you! John Lennon brought me here! Thank you for bringing his music to the forefront in our world. We need more Peace Bringers. Btw why is UA-cam blocking your videos? Is it having to do with ownership of the music video?
They called him "lazy" because he stopped making music to raise his son Sean. He was off the scene for 5 years, and his comeback album unfortunately was also his last.
He sings people say I'm lazy, it's based on the fact that he had not released a record in 6 years but had been home and taken care of his son instead, and yes, you are right that john was a bit goffy but I think that he was the first known ADHD case in rock and pop history
The line "People say I'm lazy" refers to people criticizing him for taking time off from the music buisiness between 1975-1980 to be a househusband and raise his young son, Sean. That's what this song is about.
What's wrong with taking a break? What's wrong with people?. smh
that's right. I admire Lennon for THIS ... and for his desire to improve himself and work on his own problems.
The other part of this is that "Paul McCartney" was sending messages and in a way this is a response to Paul. For example, Paul's song "Monkberry Moon Delight" has the lyrics "Ketchup (ketchup)

Hi beautiful, great reaction, John Lennon was ahead of his time, thank you brown eyes you are the best
I really loved his voice and all his songs he wrote, I miss him!!

Great reaction! Cool song choices. I think this song was released 3 months after he passed
This song means a lot to me. Thanks for the reaction.
John was always the class clown going back to his school days. Always a funny, quirky guy.
John had a dark, angry side. He could be quite vicious. I don't think that detracts from him one bit. He was quite human and had a very rough early life. Humor (or is that humour?) was his defense and coping mechanism.

There are no problems, only solutions...classic Lennon. Great reaction as usual. ❤👊 what you got. A great Lennon song, my favorite!
Lennon became a "house husband". He stayed home and took care of the children. Obviously, people made comments about him doing those things instead of making music.
One of my favorite all time songs of his.
this song is a masterpiece

My favourite song of John’s as a solo artist. High praise, indeed!
One of my favorite's as well. Especially after I retired.
Beautiful boy from same album always hits me hard. He tells his son Sean life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans. And weeks after it’s release he was murdered. What a loss for us , but the Lord gets to hear him every night since
This song was released after John was murdered. What a wonderful way to say goodbye.
Love your reactions. I found it slightly ironic when you were talking about “just enjoy your life”. Poor John was murdered around the time the song was released.
Keep it up Tysheen! Your voice is nice.👍
God bless you're reaction 🙏
This is really cool!
Wow!
Very well done, Tysheen!
John had taken time off from singing and activism to raise his son Sean. With this album he'd just jumped back into the limelight and was making great music again, and that's when he was murdered.
My favourite Lennon song.
the wheels going round were the wheels on his sons toys
Great metaphor

Hi. This song was about him declaring that he wanted to be a father instead of a rockstar.

Help is a great 1
..you're singing was fine ...love you
John is my hero👍✌
Makes me smile seein' beautiful women listening to beautiful music! 😏😏
Yes, Lennon was the lazy guy. He liked sleeping and fooling around...great song this.
John passed away in 1980
Plz react to "I'm so tired" from the Beatles
Great song by John , no doubt. But also kinda sad for me, because
it came out right after he was killed. Such a awesome artist . Really miss him.
When you pause... rewind a little please so we don't lose the flow :)

he should have never moved to new york and should never have lived in that cursed building. missing him.
JOHN took time off to care for his family particularly his son Sean.
From 1976 til 1980 he stopped recording and walked away from the fame and in 1980 he started recoding again only to be murdered on December 8 1980
He originally had it as emotional wreck
👍🌹🍒🙏🌟😉
react to CLIMAX BLUES BAND song called I LOVE YOU its one of the greatest love song ever recorded
You’re right.Lennon couldn’t be serious for more than a few minutes at a time. I wonder if, today, he would have been diagnosed with ADHD.
Love PLAY INSTANT KARMA FOR US PLEASE BLESS YOU MY WIFE AND I ARE BOTH VETERANS RET 🍒💝🙏 RESPECT 💯 YOU'RE GREAT
John Lennon slept a lot
You paused over the best line in the song, “there are no problems, only solutions”
Go Laydy Bye
Sometimes he took himself too seriously (early 70s).
Music ain't what it used to be sadly..
Working class hero?
