Bojack Horseman Therapist Reaction | Mr. Peanutbutter Character Analysis

- The Netflix show Bojack Horseman is full of characters with mental health issues and common habits that can often hold many of you back from living a successful and happier life. Mr. Peanutbutter is no exception, as, beyond his front of being happy-go-lucky, successful, and want-for-nothing attitude, he is flawed in his own way too.
**AS THERE WERE A FEW HICCUPS IN THE ORIGINAL UPLOAD, I HAD TO REUPLOAD - SO ENJOY!

Whoever put together the original video missed a few Mr Peanutbutter gems.
Like this one
“The secret to happiness isn’t to search for meaning, it’s to keep yourself occupied with unimportant nonsense and eventually you’ll be dead “
This is a great catch.
It's a shame it wasn't in the video I reacted to
Thank you for sharing
@@Counsellor yes that line weighed up for me a lot about Mr PB’s life’s philosophy.
He’s never going to suffer from any existential worries, because he’s going to keep himself so busy he’ll never have time to think about it.
PB always reminded me of Joy from Inside Out with the toxic positivity traits they both share
Bojack Horseman is, in my opinion, one of the greatest shows ever. It’s just so clever
Mr. PB didn't actually steal the D from the Hollywood sign. He took the fall for Bojack, who actually did steal the D, while drunk, to impress Diane. Mr. PB told everybody he did it for Diane, and that's why Bojack got pissed cause he stole his thunder
Added context: Bojack has a crush on Diane, Mr Peanutbutter's girlfriend, and while out to dinner with them, pb and bojack got into a contest of one-upsmanship (which pb ultimately won by pointing out that he's already dating Diane). Depressed and angry at losing, and also because he's an alcoholic, bojack gets wasted and decides that a grand romantic gesture is just the thing, so he steals the D. When he writes up the next morning, the city is losing its shit and the D is in bojack's pool. So he calls up pb and gets him to use the helicopter he mentioned buying to put the D back before anyone notices, but halfway through the plan pb decides he actually rather likes bojack's idea and takes the D to his house instead.
@@michealdrake3421 Yeah... What this guy said 👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽
He actually gave Hollywoo the D.

Jokes on you, I'm writing an essay on Mr.Peanutbutter's negative habits and how even though there's character development he should still be considered a "villain" of the show. Unrelated but thank you because this is one of the only analysis I could find on Mr.Peanutbutter done by an actual therapist rather than someone interested in the show and it's been really helpful.
15:05 This is actually something that this show does really well. Many of these characters know from the start that they're flawed and have a lot of growing to do, but it takes most of them a while to understand how they're flawed and how they need to be better, and even longer to figure out how to do it and to muster the motivation. Pb is a great example of that. By season 5 he's begun to understand how the bad things that happen to him aren't just bad luck but the result of his choices. He begins to understand why his relationships keep falling apart. But it's one thing to know those things intellectually and another to build up the willpower to break your habits and change yourself.
22:00 This is actually a great moment because it's probably the biggest leap he's made, development wise. The old pb would have probably panicked and made some grand romantic gesture to try and win Pickles back, but here, he realizes that their relationship just isn't going to work. They have fun together but they're too different, at different stages of their lives, and it wouldn't be fair to pickles for him to tie her down just so he can be around her more. He makes the choice to lie to her about what he wants because he realizes that what he wants is selfish and not what's best for either of them. He knows she's not coming back, and she almost certainly does as well.
It's not perfect, but it shows how far pb has come as a person since the first season.
Do Princess Carolyn next! She’s my favorite character!
She's easily the best on the show! ^^
Really? I can't stand her! I find her quite covertly manipulative
You should react to Tuca and Bertie, it’s kinda wacky at first but it has some deep parts, it’s also made by the people who made Bojack Horseman.
I love all of these.
If you're ever out of material from Bojack you might want to look at "She-Ra and the Princesses of Power." I'd love to hear your take on the growth of those characters.
I'll check it out.
Thank you for the recommendation
is this a crossover therapy session!?
Seeing this confirms that I knew Mr. Peanutbutter is really not a good dog who manipulates for his own interests, toxic positivity, and doesn't respect the boundaries of others due to desperation for unconditional love.
Funny enough MP didn’t actually steal the D- instead just taking credit for it
YOU HAVE A WHOLE MINI SERIES OF THIS HELL YEAH
I love those episodes, they give me new perspective
Great analysis! 🔥
I wish that you had reacted to the show, rather than reacting to a compilation. There were a lot of nuances that just didn't fit because that wasn't what happened (like stealing the D, when it was so much more complicated, because Bojack stole it, and Mr. Peanut Butter just took responsibility for it, after he and Bojack and spent the night trying to compete for Diane, even though she hated the whole thing).
Nice video. Very informative!
Actually pb covered for bojack in the first thing
He didn't "covered up" for him, he stole his idea and lied saying he did for Diane. He took the credit.
@@Naahi95 Well bojack probably would’ve gone to jail it’s not like it’s a good thing he did
He said Mr. Peanut butter stole it in his video about Diane as well. Bojack stole the D. Mr. Peanut butter helped him remove it from bojack's property. Then Mr. Peanut butter took it to his own house And took credit for stealing it
He reminds me of hypomanic people I have worked with
It'd be great to see your take on Todd or Princess Carolyn. I also support the recommendation of She-Ra and the princesses of power
it amazes me how i'm able to see myself and my traits in other people. I don't like mr PB and also relate to him.
Sorry if this is a shallow comment, but as an American I'm in love with how "Peanutbutter" sounds in your accent
I come early, good video
mr peanutbutter is my favorite character
Please do princess Carolyn
Reupload? This came out yesterday right?
Well noticed
there was an error (out of sync) so I reuploaded.
I will try and get a video out about this
Your cool 😎
Phillip you are amazing
I think you missed a lot of fine points here.
Like you missed PB, not actually stealing the D but covering for Bojack who stole the D.
You also said Diane wanted an adventure in Eastern Europe but it was more about doing something meaningful. They build up the whole thing over the first half of season 2.
Is it possible that you are not a fan of the show and I just watching some clips shared by some of your editor or something like that to get the views?
British people thinking they know how humans cognate.
I was waiting for this one plz watch the whole series
