@Alejandra Serena Well, you gotta have that! That's the gothy version of "Live, laugh, love"! A goth home is not complete without a nod to the genuis that is Beetlejuice
@Alejandra Serena true. Some of these goth home tours, you see the same cushions from killstar. In my opinion,it's way more interesting to see thrifted or one of a kind pieces.
You did such a good job! Heaps of style for such a compact space. I've been curious about the tin back splash for a while now, so thanks for showing how you achieved the look.
Jared, when you decide to reupholster the seat of your fainting couch instead of using small boards of wood to support the seating area you might want to go with a single piece of 1/2" plywood cut to size. That way you won't have hills and valleys under your butt. You can upholster the seat as one complete unit - plywood, foam or pad over that and upholstery vinyl or fabric stapled over that with decorative studs/nails. I love that you have aot of the fixtures match the time period of your Co-Op. It really adds to its charm and increases it's worth.
That kitchen is gorgeous! Neither the cabinets nor the counter top look painted and the ornate plates just pull it all together. I’m jealous of the stove - what a beautiful appliance. Oh the memories on that fold up table unit! I had one of those when I was in my 20’s and a single mom of three. (I’m 55 now). It was inexpensive and it fit in our tiny place that we could afford at the time. I agree, it’s a handy unit. I kind of regret getting rid of it years ago even though the kids are all grown and gone and I own a stand alone house now. That couch is a stunning piece - please do fix it up rather than replace it. Good job on the renovation over all, too! You did a great job pulling it all together and making each room flow into the next. I’m not certain how I stumbled upon you, but you’ve got a new subscriber.
Nice apartment! I love: Vostok. I really like: the tin back splash, the coffin table, the curio-cabinet, the Japanese toilet, the paint and decorations (light fixtures, switches, etc), the secret teleportation door. I'm *absolutely terrified* of: the split stretching machine.
Ok you spent 3 times as much as I did on moving into and furnishing my completely unfurnished apartment (I'm talking moving truck, rental deposit, I owned no household items or furniture whatsoever due to previously being homeless- it came with no stove, no fridge, no washer/dryer and BARE CONCRETE FLOORS) but my god is your place aesthetic and I love all the thrifted/DIY elements. I had no idea you were so creative. You did really well to achieve the look you were going for.
I love the red color you've used for the walls. Planning on painting my tiny hallway in a similar color and cover the walls with some of the most gruesome renaissance paintings i can find - in gold frames of course, haha
I love this! I do craigslist free and goodwill and etsy. It's not a cohesive look because I can't afford the big things and I rent but having pieces that resonate for you does a long way to feeling like your space is your own. 🖤
I didn't think there would be anyone else in the states that lived in a 500 sq. ft. place like I do. You've done some nice things with your place. I love the wood floors, I have vinyl and carpet. I don't like carpet so I will eventually replace it. I used to have a mohair sofa and chair with wood trim that was gorgeous but I was allergic to it so I had to get rid of it. I'd much rather have antiques or older furniture that was made well than the new junk. I think your sofa is flattening out because it was stuffed with durian and it is getting ripe. Love you, love your channel.
Awesome renovation work! The cabinets look great and I think the metal hardware you added adds a lot of character, and the stamped metal tile backsplash looks really cool.
Just stumbled onto your Channel and so glad I did and subscribed! The exceptional work, detailing, and creativity you put into this unit (YOURS!) plus your personality is quite entertaining! I have been to NYC several times...GREAT city! Congratulations on a job well done!
This is so fascinating! It’s so neat to see how people live in small places. I live in a huge, 104 year-old very gothic house and I would go insane in 500 square feet. It’s like watching a horror movie and I love it! Also, I’m not bragging. My house is huge but I bet 1/10th the price because location location location 😂 I love how you keep the original fixtures, it’s the best part of an old home. I respect being a tiny part of my house’s history. Nice job!
You have a lovely home. And although I’m not into gothic, I like what you’ve done. It’s really creative. And your sister is very talented. Happy you’re doing better.
Hi Jared, I am so glad that you have moved from the last flat. I love the furniture collection, especially the lift out table. I also have a collection of mid century furniture that I have up cycled. 💕💕👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
That is Formica on the countertops, laminated MDF, technically not plastic. Kudos for your lovely and creative apt and your aptitude for DIY's. That finish on the wood cabinets is awesome and a color that is not overrated like white or gray. That ceiling lamp and that settee are to die for.
Totally cool space. I love the gothic look, especially for NYC. It’s cozy, functional & truly charming. I suggest changing the kitchen floor to a stone look & get a larger rug for the living room for that plush factor. Highly entertaining!
That so neat that you have a dressing room and I like how put the litter box in there. I have a nice walk in closet that’s perfect for my new kittens litter box. I also love that you stripped the paint off the door knob and radiator looks awesome. I love the black bathroom too very nice
14:08 OMG THAT COFFEE TABLE IS SO COOL! Reminds me of a lift design that we did when I was on my high school robotics team..... (shares with ex-team members for inspiration)
i love it ,i get most of my best furniture from the side of the road, too. your place is rad, the bed/gym area is especially nifty to me, i have a lot of stuff so space saving ideas are always on my mind.
If you replace your countertop, I would suggest you get a man-made material. Granite is great, but requires being sealed every now and then, while the man-made ones usually don't and they're pretty good at making it look like natural stone.
We're getting an education here on the infamous New York City "apartment" as we've heard of from Flea Market Flip. Now I get it why they talk so much about furniture needing to be so much smaller than furniture is anywhere else in the country. Fun to see it!
I was absolutely fascinated by your place. And you. You're a wonderful performer and you reminded me of the places I lived in and what I did in the 70s in San Francisco. Thank you. Great fun.
Jared has mentioned a girlfriend before, so I guess it was her. That's basing solely on the nail varnish which is _mostly_ a female thing. Next guesses are his friends we know best from the "That's Not Coffee" series. First the girl (Albo? Really hope I got that right) and then the guy (Stuart. It'll be funny if I got Albo right and his name is spelled "Stewart"), because I imagine they'd all find it funny for him to put on nail varnish for a sight gag.
You have a fantastic place! It reminds me of my old studio - also a bitty shoebox with a "dressing area" that I used as an office and a kitchenette that used to be a Murphy Bed alcove. My place was old enough that they hadn't installed the portal into the Mystery Door yet, so it just had fuses. Yours is much better!
I love your space saving aesthetic. I don't want to live in a closet, but I always go for the most efficient small things I can find. The less the better. Yet, if it's too small, it's problematic. I'm still trying to find out what my tastes and personal aesthetic is though.
I spent many years rolling a portable washer to the sink and using a vented portable dryer. I have full size w/d now, but still kept the portable ones just in case I ever needed them. Also, my main bathroom I painted the vanity black, bought a black toilet seat and black accessories. It was to go with a the 60s era chrome medicine cabinet and the Aqua sink and bathtub in the room.
Keep the couch and get merlot colored velvet to reupholster! You can DIY! Stuff it with memory foam from the fabric store. Will be super comfy and lovely and dark.
Your ballin on a budget. Those diys look sharp. I am actually about to move into a townhouse coop soon. This video inspired me to paint some furniture.

At 23:04 when you said the word "sticker" and a chill ran down my spine as I whispered the words "contact paper". I can hear the voice of my grandmother laughing in my mind. Seriously though she covered everything in it including one whole bathroom's walls and ceiling in blue and purple marble print. She loved the stuff and whoever had your desk did too. Thanks for the reminder. Your welcome for the name, although I'm sure someone already said that to you.
glad to know I'm not the only one who finds incredibly specific things in the side of the road. My last bed was missing the bottom part, wich would serve as a shoe storage. One day when going to the grocery store I just found it in the garden of a random person's house. I think my mother walked up to them and asked them if we could have it so I just got it for free
Thank you for introducing us to the little mystery door in the wall. Many a sleepless night ahead trying to figure out what on earth could possible lie behind it!

@22:09 oh the Lament Configuration. Clive Barker/Hellraiser fan! Me too. If I may suggest, you could get an armoire and put a partition in it and put your dryer in the top half and your washing machine in the bottom then roll it out when you need it. Situate it where the dryer is located. Paint it black too! I have an “Every day is Halloween aesthetic” too to my current abode but I am moving soon.
Thanks! yeah I stacked the dryer and washer since making this using a boring metal thing meant for the purpose. an armoire world have been cooler, but it at least frees up space for more cursed furniture
I did the tin panel backsplash too on my last place. I was trying to keep the bare back walls from getting dirty and yet compliment the rustic natural wood vibe the place had.

I dig your aesthetic. I need to do about literally all of that to fix up my studio.
The artists last name is roughly pronounced coup (like military coup), chin, ski.
Also, his first name is pronounced like Pavel. The W like a V.
Someone needs to get you new peripherals for your PC. That mouse is gnarly 😂
