Never drunk an ounce of alcohol or took a puff of weed, stayed focused, I got ADHD so college wasn’t for me. Got my CDL, that got me out the hood. Got some experience and now haul fuel locally, take home 1400 post tax. Brought a home 1 hour away from my hood. Got a handful of homies out that could put the weed down long enough and keep a drivers license clean for 2 years but that was very few. On the other hand some of them, their dreams, goals and plans might be dead because they feel hopeless like this the only way to have a decent life, ironic that one may think this life style is decent but the music, movies and t.v. shows and the people and things they see everyday tells them that it is.

Once the drugs wear off, friends on the outside die, the girls and bros stop answering calls, kids move on, and these dudes lose their mind in prison and become mentally dead. I've seen it with my own eyes. Momma, if you have one, is the only person left in the world who actually give a dang about you. Once momma die, you left alone for the rest of your life until you die. If the streets taught me one thing it’s how to maneuver consciously in a selfish yet beneficial behavior. We all got heads on our shoulders, some just use they brain less than others. Im grew up in the UK, and my uncle moved to The States from London in the early 1990s and he lived in both Pittsburgh and Philly during the 90s as he studied his doctorate in medicine over there. He trained as a doctor and treated gunshot victims in a trauma centre and victims of gunshot wounds came in almost daily. Philly was even worse than Pittsburgh from what he told me and the 1 time I visited, my uncle drove me through North Philly to the nice safe suburb at the edge of the city where he lived and it truly shocked me how rundown, poverty strjcken and destitute the inner city in Philadelphia was, especially Kensington, I could see why many people in those environments turn to the streets.

    • @rjflores438
      @rjflores438 2 місяці тому +3

      @buckets267 Yeah, and conpared to the inner city areas in the UK, Philly and other American inner cities are on another level. Aaron, tje documentary maker of this film is actually from Birmingham in the UK, and he actially grew up in a pretty rough neighbourhood there where there was some gun violence in tjat area, I was born on London but grew up in Manchester, a city about 80 miles north of Birmingham, and the area I lived in was probably one the roughest, and I used to hear gunshots probably every 2 or 3 weeks, and this was back in the early 90s when the UK had a gun violence issue concentrated in a few areas of the main cities, but it wasnt a nightly thing like what goes on in inner city Philly and it its worse wasnt that bad compared the the cities in the States. We have an issue with stabbings now, but in the main thankfully people still tend to sort their differences out with fists instead of weapons. When I waa in the U.S.A visiting family, I was always wary of retaliating back with aggression to anyone who had an issue with me or started a confrontation, which did happen, because of the fear they could have a weapon they could hypothetically use. I hope Philadelphia starts to put some real changes to lower the gin violence because it is such a great city with so many good hard wlrking people and the people deserve better.

The streets were dangerous back then but now it's wild there. I moved out Philly about 17yrs ago to give my kids a better life then I had growing up. I'm now 43 with a family I never imagined having in my young teens running the streets of Philly. There is way out if that situation you just gotta set goals and make it happen frfr. I can successfully say I was in the trenches been shot 1 time and never drop dime on nobody. Now I live a entire different life style then those day's so it's possible too grow and move on especially if you got kid's they need you depend on you so make it happen and move them too a safer place. It blows my mind how much more dangerous Philly has gotten just since I was last there 17yrs ago. I still have 2 half sisters living in Philly and a dad I didn't knkw till I was 22yrs old.

    I knew dude in the white tank top was better than this life when Aaron asked him ‘ What’s this area known for ‘? and my guy replied “ it’s known for nothing and having nothing except the school “ I knew he was different from the usual fake guys you see in these videos that would’ve replied all proudly it’s known for shooting and killing like it’s a good thing. I knew my guy had brains and was bigger than this bs when he said that. My guy in the white T top if you read this comment I wish you all the best bro try and find a way out of this nonsense. Frfr i think that most folks that jump off the porch is simply looking for a family that can rely on when shit hits the fan. I feel as though that’s why there is so many murders because going on drills is something most people would back out on, meaning they wouldn’t have their backs in sticky situations. My black brothers and sisters(and my white brothers and sisters)have been betrayed either by family or the system they can thought they could rely on. Single parents households,bullying, poor living conditions, racist cops, injustice for all the killings happening all over the world is just fuel for my broken brothers and sisters😢. I hope most people in this video see the wickedness of their living situation and try to escape before it’s too late…

    Philly is the closest place we have to a 3rd world ghetto in the lower 48. If you’ve been there then you know it’s a thorn bush of abandonment that prevents intelligent minds from meeting potential and forcing them into violent entrepreneurship. Its intellectual potential and human capital waste that we all are flushing down the drain. There is potential but it will take a much higher view as a society to see it. There is as much value in launching an expedition into the Philadelphia inner city as there is 39:40 going to the moon. We just need to choose where we spend our capital.
