@@Silentthreat1 you’re right! The lifestyle promoted in these videos is played out. At what point do you wish to stop blaming a system for how some choose to live the life? lol this shit is wack. Yall be mad at the wrong people
Let me explain something to you, I was raised in south side Jamaica queens by my aunt who was a single parent. She was pro education, pro black and a faithful church going Christian. Over and over she would try to guide me in the right direction but I CHOSE the streets. I did everything street related you could think of. In and out of jail, toting guns and selling drugs. Even with the best support system, I still made the CHOICE to run the streets. In 2014 I was convicted of felony charges and offered a plea to do 1 year in prison and come out with no felony, But I couldn’t leave my wife by herself to raise a 2 year old and 8 month old. So I took 4 years probation with the felonies attached. After my conviction I made the CHOICE to change my life for the better. Fast forward to today, My felony conviction has been set aside by filing a petition with the courts which restored my civil rights and gun rights. After working in the construction field for 5 years I became a home owner in 2021. My environment, up bringing, or “white supremacy” didn’t hold me back. It was my CHOICES!
As a citizen of St. Louis, this type of shit is isolated in various neighborhoods. You're not gonna just randomly get murdered unless you decide to put yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time in a neighborhood that is known to be dangerous. I love my city!
Exactly, title is super misleading and clickbaiting. Majority of the shootings/murders are pre meditated. Either the person was talking shit, made a move on someone they knew, etc. Now don’t get me wrong there are people who have been killed by stray bullets, but the title makes it seem like if your driving down the street people are gonna just randomly start shooting at you
St. Louis resident here. There are 2 parts to St. Louis. There's St. Louis City and there's St. Louis County. The city has about 300k residents, and the county has about 2 million. The city is mostly safe with several pockets that you just shouldn't go, but crime does spill out into the surrounding areas, so keep your guard up. If you visit, keep in mind that traffic laws/norms are largely optional here. The county is very safe and overall a nice place to raise a family. If you visit, stay out of the far left lane on the interstate, unless you plan to drive 80+ mph. Slow drivers in that lane cause the "pockets of traffic" that cause traffic jams.
One of the guys in this video is my best friend little brother. He chose to do this. His life was not bad in a way he needed to do this. It broke my heart seeing him on the screen. 😢
@elguerokabron but he isn't documenting it in a way of bringing light to the issues that is truly causing this system to continue. This is no different from the same hood content of a decade ago. He's a British voice making it sound informational but really it's glorifying it in a way just with a more subtle voice.

I see a lot of people commenting, “I live here and it’s not that bad”. Well, I’m a cop here, and it is that bad. The “I’ll just mind my business and it’ll be good” mentality is a joke. It’s strange how nothing is a crisis until it’s happening to you specifically.
Y'all more dangerous than the 'thugs'. I feel safer around them than around STLPD. Y'all don't do sht, don't solve sht & always start sht. We used to help you in the 90s but then y'all started fcking over the civilians via harassment and over policing. So we figured out it's easier to deal with the gang bangers than with you. Half of y'all don't even live in STL anyway so there's no connection there. If you want us to stop looking the other way then y'all need to repair the relationship that y'all ruined.
You must be one brave man to choose such a career. Thank you for your hard work sir ❤ I live in Poland, a country well known for its safety. The only thing more mental than this documentary is people in the comments acting like it's not that big of a deal. You're right, the crisis isn't real until it affects you personally!
Terrible take from a cop but isn’t surprising. It’s bad to YOU because of the profession YOU chose so you’ll have to deal with it on a daily basis. But civilians who happen to live in those areas should have the right to mind their business because getting into that life causes death. Simply giving info to cops can result in civilians being killed or even family members. No it’s not right but the world isn’t fair. Plus when informants are killed, the POLICE do a poor job finding who it is and also do a poor job protecting those who helps cops with information. This is coming from a civilian from DE
@thebasement7330 yes really, if you can relate.. then you would know that the hardest part of leaving the hood is... leaving the hood. Almost everyone who left the hood for a break to visit family or something end up with this thought when they are away and alone.. damn who am I on my own? Who I am without the hood?
I’ve lived in and around St. Louis my entire 44 years of life. I love this city and I don’t fear for my safety most of the time, unless caught after dark in the wrong neighborhood, but it’s usually just a matter of being aware of your surroundings. There are good neighborhoods and there are bad. I think it can be summed up in 1 word as far as why there’s so much violence: hopelessness. Whether they will admit it or not and it’s an EXTREMELY COMPLEX issue that goes all the way back to Jim Crowe laws. St. Louis is still incredibly segregated for a city in the 21st century with so much diversity and talent. The difference between one neighborhood to the next? Poverty, mass incarceration, racial profiling, single parent households, crappy schools, little to no support financially, educationally or emotionally- whatever type of support there is, they don’t usually get it in certain neighborhoods. So naturally, kids will be angry and hopeless and will get what they can where they can. Unfortunately at the moment, the easiest place for them to find what they need is with a gang or “in the streets”. They get the support they want and need there: safety -as safe as you can feel in the streets, camaraderie-they have someone to relate to that comes from the same type of home life or background, and in those gang leaders, someone to look up to in their formative years as a role model. They find in gangs others they can relate to, that are usually in the same situation at home and that usually involves having one or both parents in jail, on drugs, or just not around. I’ve known many that were raised by their grandparents. When it ends up that the only role model they have is a gang leader, why does it surprise people when they turn out the same way over and over? It’s a vicious cycle of poverty, violence, incarceration, repeat. The only way it will ever end is with the opportunity for every kid to be able to better themselves in whatever way they can dream and for the feasibility for them to get there. They’ve got to be able to see themselves get there, because no kid wakes up one day and aspires to be a gang leader, member or otherwise. No kid dreams of being a murderer, sitting in a jail cell for the majority of their adult life, in and out of correctional facilities until they are so institutionalized that it’s easier to be in jail and have a roof over their head and 3 meals a day than it is to try and survive every day, in poverty, alone. When opportunity can be fixed, I believe the rest will follow.
My brother did ten years in jail. In jail, he learned to cut hair. He been home for 13 years. Instead of getting back in the streets, he moved to VA and started a new life. We from New Orleans. If he can put his pride to the side, they can too.

There's danger and dumb everywhere. However, I love it in STL. My observation in any city, environmental mindset is learned behavior. You are based on who you're around. Eventually, you'll think and act like them. To "get out", you'll need to form your own mindset outside of your environment, a mentor, and God's word. It takes strength and a willingness to raise yourself up and want a better life for yourself. ❤

I been in St. Louis my whole life. Born and raised, 80s baby. Before social media, before clout, before being extra’d out. A lot of these young men come from single parent, feminine energy led homes. They closed all the inner city schools, the recreation centers are failing and closing. There’s no money being funded to the ghetto. And a lot of my brothers don’t understand the concept of let’s take care and do for us. Everybody wanna be a gangsta. Me, myself I chose to go the other way. When you have dead friends, potnas locked away, drug addicted family, scandalous associates, you don’t really glorify the life because you REALLY know what comes with it. It’s not a game out here. I hate to say this but it’s too late for guys like the ones in this video. They don’t want anything out of life. They’ve given up on themselves. More importantly, they’ve given up their spiritual connection to The Most High. I pray for my Brothers for better days. But we gotta do better. Edit: Another things is, these boys aint got no hands. Scared to get they a$$ beat. That’s why they quick to grab a gun.
When he says you better not go to the gas station without your gun in your hand I got chills! 😢 My cousin was murdered sitting in the car at a gas pump on Vandeventer and St. Louis ave. By some “opps” from a neighboring “hood”. RIP Johnny 🥹 I was 14 and I’ll never forget that day. My siblings and I were leaving the store Scruggs (closed now) down the street from the gas station and all of a sudden we started hearing rounds of repeated gunfire. It was too loud and sounded like it was getting closer so I ran home. I remember looking back and seeing my sister and a few ppl from the hood screaming and crying while getting in and out of a car my cousin and his friend was in that had just left the gas station where the shooting came from and parked there off St. Louis Ave on Prairie. From my porch I’m yelling to my sister and then I see my cousins friend hop back in the car and drive directly to our house. That’s when I saw my cousin with a bullet through his head with his eyes open in the passenger side of the car. I was traumatized and I HATE guns. I thankfully left Saint Louis to live with my dad to Kansas City, which is just as bad now, when I was about to be 16. I’ll be 34 next month and I’ve been living peacefully in Florida for 5 and a half years. I do not plan anything on returning to misery aka Missouri.
I can guess it was a Tre940 member that did it. I lived over there growing up and they warred so bad with each other. I remember seeing bloody footprints on the sidewalk smh. RIP to your cousin thats so heart breaking truly.
St. Louis can be very dangerous, but you gotta be able to recognize danger to avoid it, if you move carefully, you can survive. For the ones that don’t see danger, and don’t have a choice but live by the fast money, drugs and weapons, I pray for them, because the city really is suffering from the violence.
“I might be at Applebees one day and save the day cause I’m the only one with the blick” This is what a lot of outsiders looking in need to understand. This is a perspective from someone who grew up in St.louis, I am without bias, or hated and in elementary I was already reading/writing/comprehending beyond a 12th grade level. I grew up in St.louis apart of a single parent, and single child household and i'll never forget the advice my dad gave me and that was to be a philosopher and an observer, i'll live longer. Because I was young and went to school with these guys its alot different than trying to be a modern day interviewer looking into the scene from the outside. I got to first hand witness them being molded into the people who made this UA-cam Video exist. From what I observed all of the violence came from influence from the older people. I constantly rationalized it as influence from an elder. Constantly. I'm going to school to observe, notate, and learn from, but then, I'd have a friend or someone I hung out with in Kindgarten, now we're in first grade and theyre talking about "blood" and "cuz". Meanwhile in my mind, I had no association with the stuff. So it had to come from the elder influence, because I had no reason to say those things or associate with those backgrounds. I learned to hang out with, and enjoy the time with people as long as possible until the "system" assimilated them; Because lets face it, by that point you can't really hang around for long until they start trying to get you to be apart of the same program and system to start doing the same things. I used to be very open about not knowing anything about "that stuff", I sat at a lot of different lunch tables, but, I never got mixed up for being involved. My dad got me into working at a young age, so I was always trying to figure out how to make some more money and do more with my time to make some money with. There was absolutely no money potential in hanging out and going to fight and getting in trouble with the police, absolutely none, in my opinion. We used to wear uniforms to school, so I never had to buy clothes, and shoes were easy to afford for me, I ended up getting into computers, which were an expensive hobby; it ultimately made people leave me alone cause no one knew computers like me and I wasn't very open about it, but it made me look for different people to be with. Everyone knew about game consoles, but I knew how to build a computer and World of Warcraft. But I never let any one know, cause no one cared to be honest. What I learned though when I did get to hang out with kids becoming goons, thugs and gangbangers was that it was just pure addiction to having some kind of grudge, I guess for some, The Grudge is the first drug addiction.

Still, we are luckier than the most. Could’ve been dead now.

Well said, StL too. Never had issues that Metro couldn’t solve.

And a lot of my brothers don’t understand the concept of let’s take care and do for us. Everybody wanna be a gangsta. Me, myself I chose to go the other way.
