- Few, if any, figures in rock and roll history are as timeless - or controversial - as Elvis Presley. Both a rebel and a heartthrob, Elvis changed the way the world thought about music, pop culture, and celebrity. Here's what the last concert of Elvis' life was like.

He made this his final farewell because the CIA recruited him under a new alias to help fight crime. From what i last dug into, he was living in the suburb hills of Hollywood or LA. Though you wont find much info these days since most of the leaks were removed
@@Drago_San I saw a Documentary a couple years ago called Elvis Found Alive Wich claimed to show the Real Elvis telling his True Life Story in wich he did say he Faked his Death to be a Cia Agent Fighting Crime under a Fake Name as You said. I don't know if it's a Real Documentary or if any of the info in it is true but I do think it's weird that in the official credits of the Documentary on imdb it lists the Name Jon Burrows as the Voice of Elvis and Jon Burrows is Elvis Presleys Alias Name he used when he wanted to be Anonymous.

When they announced “Elvis has left the building” it left chills down my spine.
Yeah i have the audio from that final show hearing those words makes me very sad. It feels like the last 3 songs he sang in that show Hurt, Hound Dog, and Can't Help Falling in Love he was emptying his gas tank.
Elvis did not leave the building that night. JD said in an interview that he returned to his dressing room behind the stage. Elvis called JD back there to talk to him. He asked him to come to Graceland because he wanted to discuss something with him. Unfortunately JD never made it there so he never knew what that was that Elvis wanted to talk about. 💔😔

Elvis has left the building STARTED When Elvis would finish at the Louisiana Hayride and continued When He Did Vegas and Other Concerts -- Have you not seen TTWII - That's The Way It Is - And EOT - Elvis On Tour 1972 - When He'd finish a concert - It was Elvis's getaway while he was actually leaving the property because fans would run after him -- Same as at the Hayride
Is is false and doesn't reflect his last concert in INDIANAPOLIS 😊
Love this one thank you for sharing this with everyone
My entire family, myself included are Elvis fans. My daughter is 22 years old and she absolutely loves him, she and her "pop" whom is my father would listen to Elvis all the time. My father had the privilege of metting Elvis in the 60's while Elvis was in Florida filming the movie FOLLOW THAT DREAM. My father was in the excavation business and was just starting and fresh out of high school. My father helped fill in the marsh wetlands to make a beach for the movie. My father said Elvis was an absolutely amazing man. My dad also described Elvis as a very respectful, humble, polite and down to earth individual...a true southern gentleman.. My dad has passed on now but he would always say that Elvis presley will not ever be replaced in his lifetime.. My father was right. I myself will never see Elvis replaced. The king was gifted for sure.. RIP Mr presley
I attended the last show. Most people are confused thinking the concert on TV was his last show. It wasn’t, it was two show recorded just Pryor to that. And he said, may God bless you, adios at the end of every performance. It was unusual, however, for him to introduced so many people right before his last song. I had never seen that before and I had seen a total of 24 shows all together. I miss him so very much. he was an awesome entertainer.
lucky you got to see him so much , i was born after his time, i always wished i had been around to see him or he still was here, i’ve been a fan since i was a kid thanks to my family members
Thank you, thank you very much for sharing that, I’m 60, years old, I love the Beatles to the Sex Pistols, and Elvis Presley is the king of them all, was it 1968 TV special, do you want to talk about prime, No one could sound or look better, I think Elvis was far cooler than even Keith Richards, at that time could ever be, and Richers is super cool, so that’s a major compliment🥰
Correct. The part where he introduced the band members was a truly unusual occurrence, however he did say “until we meet again, may god bless you, adios” at the end of every performance on this tour.
I love you mystery person I was born after his time but I listen to his music so much plus watch the movies he was in plus the New Elvis movie with Austin Butler so amazing he is a once in a lifetime man Like Jesus in my opinion his voice was beautiful he was beautiful his songs were amazing I wish he was still alive today making his music❤
Thanks for sharing.
It's one of those moments when you remember exactly where you were and how you found out that Elvis had died.
It never affected me
It was also like that with me when Lisa Marie passed away! I was crushed when I found out.

He was scheduled to perform in Portland, Maine on the night of his death. He had never been to Maine before and all you heard for months every night on the news was "Elvis is coming! Elvis is coming!" I was in Portland that day (not for Elvis, for my Army physical) and when the news of his death was announced, it was like the world was about to end.

Same with John Lennon.
The world did stand still the day Elvis died😢
When Elvis sang his cover of Bridge Over Troubled Water I was amazed at his incredible voice, as well as his deep emotion. He was truly a magnificent performer.

Didn't he cancel a but of the shows.
My aunts and mother were going to go to Elvis concert in 1977, and they got canceled before his death.
@@timmcpherson737many were cancelled throughout the mid 70s even though he wasn't really doing a lot of shows in comparison to many of his peers.

I was 8 years old when Elvis passed away. My parents were devastated when they heard the sad news.
Dad played Elvis only on the 8 Track in the car for ages afterward.
He had the whole world in his hands but not one friend 😢🙏♥️
So very sad when you really think about it
Users, mostly, but there were people who were true friends. Ann Margret being one who truly loved Elvis and wanted nothing from him but his love, and friendship.
But he had a daughter that needed him 🥺
Jerry Schilling was the only one in that group that actually loved Elvis, the man. He watched over Lisa and protected her throughout her life, just as Elvis asked. I believe Larry Gellar wanted to help Elvis also. The rest just wanted to help themselves.
Exactly right...

Beatles were.
YES!!! I saw him in Duluth Minnesota and it was the same, it was like daylight in the arena from flash photography!!
No the Beatles wasn't, Elvis was king, he had the looks, those Beatles kinda looked like real Beatles, you just want to think that because what you read, Elvis was the ultimate human in his heyday the prettiest human that has ever walked and that voice was soul touching the Beatles not even close.

Elvis did that during every show he played from like 1969 to like the time he died. He introduced everyone on stage with him, and thanked the audience for being so “fantastic” and at the end, he played Can’t help falling in live with you

King of rock - roll, not the king of heaven. Elvis even states that in his Hawaii concert.
king of junkie I agree
As spiritual and sensitive of a person as Elvis was, plus he knew better than anyone privately to himself that his health was failing him and that he couldn’t last too much longer like this, I’m sure he had a feeling. I’m sure some part of him knew and was making peace with it then.
I feel like he had symptoms leading up to his fatal heart attack and knew it could possibly be his last concert.
@@sandralybrand9425this makes me sad 😢
@@sandralybrand9425 I have seen video of his last concert I have read that he was in some pain and discomfort before the show but he prayed as he always did before the show and he asked God for Strength and he stepped out on that stage and it was absolutely beautiful especially his rendition of Unchained Melody he nailed it If he was in pain he didn't show it which also makes me sad but he wanted to give his fans the best and he knew his lord was with him . My dad surprised me with tickets as well. I was almost 16. I’m 62 now and he’s still my all time favorite entertainer. A voice and fans like none other
Highly intuitive and truly blessed beyond words, I think he knew a change was near.
He operated in the occult
I saw Elvis in concert at I0 years old and at 12 years old.
I saw him at HAMPTON RDS. Coliseum in VA. He often introduced his people to the audience. I was there and I saw it and heard it. Even as a child I thought that was a truly wonderful thing to do. The older I got the more I realized that him doing that was part of his appreciation to give the members of his band and the orchestra their credit for how awesome they performed and him showing his appreciation and putting the spotlight on them many times. I loved it when he did that. You could see in his eyes and his face how he was in awe of their talent.
He also allowed solos for some of them. Was it J.D. Sumner with the real low voice range that he often gave him solos to sing? He was in awe of how low of range that the man could go to. Do you know the story about the SWEET INSPIRATIONS???
One of the arenas that he was performing at didn’t want to allow them in because they were a different skin color!!! Elvis said NO Way!!!. You don’t let them in I don’t perform!!! Also if I remember correctly when he was in an open vehicle that same day riding around
The arena he made them let the INSPIRATIONS WONDERFUL BACK UP SINGERS RIDE AROUND IN THAT VEHICLE in that ARENA WITH HIM!!! I loved that !!
He showed them that he would not have anything to do with racism!!! I admired him so much for him standing up for that equality ❣️❣️❣️
I remember also JAMES BURTON I BELIEVE WAS HIS LEAD GUITAR DOING SOLOS!!! Elvis was amazed by his talent also!!!❤️❤️❤️
The reason he mentioned everyone was because it was a televised concert. Elvis, we miss you ❤️😢😭🙏
... maybe because HE DIED?
No, the last Elvis performace in Indianapolis was not a part of CBS Elvis in Concert
Finally with his daughter again
Even a bit overweight he still put everything he had into his performance always as ever he showed that he is still the undisputed King 👑🌹❤️

Goodness. I was doing Yr.11 as a Mature Age Student. Determined to get somewhere in my life, having made the mistake of leaving school to soon ... I was driving to school when it came over the Radio Elvis had died. I'd been the right age to have grown up when he was the King. Now it was over. Without Elvis there would have been No Kingdom for Michael Jackson to have Enjoyed. I'm sure Elvis must know we're still enjoying his music in the next Century . I was thinking about his movie " A change of Habit" .only the other day ! ... Catchy title I was thinking. Wise words to all !
I grew up wanting to meet Elvis and to sing back up for him, even if it was behind a curtain. I loved him thru his music. I'll see him again, real soon 😊
Yes
It was appropriate for his elegy to end with “Elvis has left the building”. It’s a tear jerker of the first order. I’ve been watching all things Elvis since his morphic reincarnation through Austin Butler. A stellar performance and I’m thankful that they made a production that dives deeply into his soul. And Austin was a godsend in his determination and drive to get Elvis to inhabit his body for at least a little while, so the world could pay tribute and again be reminded of Elvis’ unprecedented contributions to music and performance, love and humanity. Unfortunately, a movie doesn’t capture enough time to really do justice to such a cultural hero and driving force for racial recognition and equality. A well placed and conscientious protester. If only more people were actually listening with their ears. But he did more than anyone in our history to try to do not only a sexy, sensuous presentation - glory hallelujah - but to pursue Justice. What a gem - Luhrmanns intro to the movie approaches his
illustrious persona.
Love you,
El
I wish I’d been born a few years earlier so I could have presented you on or off stage with a “bowl full of cherries”.

Very sad and aloss too soon.😢
He knew that he was sick and tired... the life of being Elvis Presley had been out of control for a long time.... he is still the best. .. I wish he had been more of a songwriter and not just industry
He packed a lot of life into those 42 years!!!

I wish I could have met You Elvis ❤❤❤❤❤
A damn great one regardless 😢
I remember thinking toward the end that Elvis had become sad to see. The repeated scarf thing was silly. But I loved him & grew up loving him. Still do. I've even taught my 8 year old grandson about him. And about Lisa. I've taught him his whole story. I can't imagine a world that doesn't know who Elvis was.
I bet you'd love to have one of those scarves!!! Elvis was extremely generous. And im talking about to average, every day people he would run across. I don't know why he threw out the scarves but do you ever see any other celebrity or entertainer offer such a personal memento to fans. If I'm not mistaken, Charlie Hodge, the guy who handed him the scarves and was always introduced last, were in the Army together.
Whether you like his music or not there's no denying there will never be another Elvis. The man took ahold of the music industry like no other
Elvis had breathing difficulties his whole life. A voice teacher worked with him trying to help him with his breathing. His voice didn’t need help but taking deep breaths was important for him as with most singers. If you watch the 68 comback special you’ll see him with breathing issues. Go to the out takes from 68 show, he stops and says I’m out of breath. He used a breather thing he carried in his pocket before going on stage. If you see the right before he goes on stage, you see him using his breather.
"a breather thing" is called an inhaler.
Was 9 at the time and was one of those moments in time that you will never forget where you were and what you were doing.

Firstly, this footage is from Rapid City on 21st June 1977, five days before his final show in Indianapolis. The Indy show was not professionally filmed or recorded, only audio audience recordings and fan shot super 8 footage clips exist of the last show.
Whenever Elvis ended a tour, he often indulged during his closing night with songs he rarely performed live and would often introduce family and friends from the audience whilst giving extended thanks to the sound engineers and other people involved in the tour.
Indianapolis was just a normal show. There was no sense of foreboding or premonition. "Til we meet you again, God Bless you - Adiós" was a regular sign off for his shows...
exactly!
My husband knew. In the last 3 months of his life he went off to visit friends and relatives he had not seen in years. Maybe it wasn't actual consciously knowing but some kind of instinct. 14 days before his 35th birthday he was gone. I have heard that a lot of younger people seem to know !
