- Self love is the practice of being kind to yourself, treating yourself with respect, and taking care of your mental and physical health. It means having a positive attitude towards yourself, recognizing your strengths, and being comfortable in your own skin. It is not about having an inflated sense of self-importance or engaging in selfish behavior; rather, it is about learning to appreciate and accept yourself, flaws and all. It is an important part of living a balanced and healthy life.

I use to think it was just a saying however , self love is imperative. If you don’t love yourself, you can never truly love nobody else or allow others to love you fully. Without Self love you can never reach your full potential. Self love is a requirement you’re right.

My inadequacies make me feel extremely hard to love, even within and to myself. I find myself not being able to “think” as well because I am burdened by negative thoughts of all the “flaws” I have. It really feels as if every single person is deserving of love except for me. I think people speak on self love a lot, but do not acknowledge how difficult it is within itself to find, or to give to oneself when it feels better and easily to not love yourself, instead of attempting the journey to love something, you don’t even like.

i know you arent asking for advice so you're fully valid to ignore me. what truly helped me not utterly hate myself was writing out every "flaw" I believed I had and then finding the opposite within myself. the opposite of any negative attribute you think you have is present in you. you simply cant have one without the other. no one exists as one-dimensionally to only be made up of a few "flaws". it is so hard to truly find things to like about yourself, so start as small as possible. sometimes i have to imagine myself as my own best friend and describe her how a true bestie would and it makes me feel good and gives me some laughs. i wish you all the best

I feel you. I was very much in the same energy a few years ago. What changed was when I realized that God knows and understands me better than anyone, including myself. Him knowing every single part of me and STILL choosing to show me goodness, favor... blessing me with whatever He has blessed me with, THAT changed me. If the Almighty can accept me, who am I to continue rejecting myself? Have I mastered this? Nope! But I'm on the journey. YOU'RE on the journey!! While you may not acknowledge it, you've started. Kind suggestion, as a photographer, I would suggest that you could perhaps rotate the plant on the left that is leaning on it's side. Rotate it in such a way that it appears more vertical in the video. Additionally, make sure that you camera is also angled in such a way that the pictures on the wall are also not leaning towards on side but feels horizontally balanced. The reason is that this may create the conditions for additional peace and calm subconsciously for the viewer. It's not a criticism, it's a kind suggestion. Feel free to ignore this! I had a few revelations that brought me to tears when watching this. When she mentioned how we expect from others when we don’t have the practice of loving ourselves, BAYBEEE that hit hard! I realize in friendships and relationships that I feel so poorly of myself and never pour into myself that I don’t believe I deserve anything and then as a result have little or nothing to give. In addition to this, she reminded me that God made me in his image. There are no mistakes. I can and will improve myself but I have to accept all parts of me at every stage. I have to make the habit of seeing my full reflection without magnifying the the bad or minimizing the good. It’s all there, it’s all meant to be there and I will love all of me. Thank you, this has been eye opening for me both practically and spiritually.

Wow, I was thinking my maintenace was self-care. I even called it "Self-Care Sunday". But now that I am doing the real self-care, Ive barely had time for or put much emphasis on my weekly maintenance. The real self-care is more important and needed. The maintenance was really just "work" to maintain my physical appearance. I appreciate you explaining that. It's something I didn't know I needed to hear.

This video spoke to me in a sense of understanding my new journey. You see I recently left a very toxic long term relationship of over 5 years. My ex was very verbally abusive, he would talk down to me and make me, feel as though I wasn't worthy of his love just wasn't. He would tell me I'm not intelligent, strong, smart, determined so on and so forth. I knew when he first started, with the verbal abuse, he was coming from a hurtful place and projecting how he felt about himself. The truth of the matter is I was every bit of what he couldn't see in himself... I had to let this relationship go in order to continue to grow. for me he couldn't love me the way I deserved to be loved because, he couldn't love himself. Now Who am I!! to require him to give me his best when he can't give it to himself.
Ladies and gentlemen love yourself spiritually, mentally, physically. Fill your cup of love, self appreciation, care, gentleness, grace and patience, once you do that, then and only then can you have it to give to someone else.

The journey to loving self has been a bumpy one for me. Growing up in an environment where I was conditioned to put others first, where I was neglected as a child I realized that my point of reference of what love is is just non-existent. I had to learn through many heart breaks and come to a place where I had to reflect on what I personally think love is. I have placed myself in positions where I'd be used, taken advantage of and really making weak choices because I didn't honour myself. A major depression opened my eyes, the pain was excruciating however I am at a place where I am open to content such the one you're sharing with the rest of us. I am allowing myself to be vulnerable and hold space for the ugly parts of myself.
