I am working on an update video to the train derailment. Yesterday I filmed the new track and the site of the derailment. The crossing was also repaved and it just reopened yesterday. It will be an awesome video and I am putting it together right now. Also, the crossing gate arms are made to break away like that and there is very little damage. I have filmed this same thing 4 or 5 times in the past year and they are easy to repair.
Great catch of a bad thing! I hate when people tear things up and run and I'm sure that short line railroad needs less expenses to keep running. Great catches of the rock train Jawtooth! Thanks for sharing!
@@scottmccloud2894 The guy who pulled the crossing gate out of the way probably reported it, and I wouldn't doubt that they reported it to the Cincinnati Eastern. Those little blue signs under the crossbucks are quite helpful. Take it from somebody who used them.

Hey Jaw Tooth, when you get videos like this showing gates getting broken, do you show the videos to the rail company so they can identify the person responsible?
I have a couple of times but they really aren't interested in it. It's an easy fix for them. I showed this to one of them just as entertainment but they were fixing it and had other things to do.
I have seen a couple of crossing gates get smacked and damaged by trucks on your videos but this is the first time I have seen one ripped off. Glad to see that the line is opened back up now. Looking forward to the derailment video. Thanks.

If you listen carefully, you can hear the Chevrolet S10 Colorado's brakes squeaking as he tried to stop. When he ended up on the track before the gate came down, he knew he had to get off the tracks quickly. It still doesn't excuse him leaving the scene.
@@maxheadroom8857 Yeah, and it looked to me like he could have stopped before going under the gate. He tried to outrun the gate going down. Of course, he needed to get off the tracks, but he created the problem himself.

They must make those gates have a weak break point on purpose I presume. As that sort of thing must happen a lot. Plus it would break should a train run over it. In this case the train was definitely going to stop anyway. Easy for the police to track down the vehicle with the video and photos you provided.
Yeah, they're just plastic - you saw how floppy it was when that guy came and removed it from the tracks. ..... Most gate in the UK are a LOT heavier, with hanging rods that hang down to pedestrians can't duck under either. But then the entire railway is fenced off, so it is difficult for anyone to find their way onto the tracks without jumping over a fence, or entering the open end at a level crossing.
They should make gates out of strong metal like Iron and Steel. It will damage their front ends. Headlights and windshields. Then he will have a hardtime explaining that to his boss.

Nice video of this Cincinnati Eastern Railroad train at Mt. Oreb, Ohio. I wonder if that lawn care guy could have stopped and backed up to let the gate roll down the front of his truck rather than speed up and break the gate off. The man from the tire store across the street did his "good turn" for the day when he came over and moved the broken gate before the train got to the crossing. The train did not get far on Williamsburg Hill before it had to stop. It looked like the train was starting to back up before you stopped the video. They must have backed up the train east of Williamsburg and then cut off some of the cars to take up the Williamsburg Hill and then come back for more cars to take up the Hill. Looking forward to the video that continues this this train on its westward travels. I am also looking forward to your video about repairs made to the tracks where the derailment of the rock train occurred.
