I just recently found your videos. I appreciate how you explain the topic, then you tell us how you will address the topic. The demonstration comes with a person or model so we can see how you do each step. You speak clearly.at a good pace. I like how you repeat the more complicated steps. lThen you show how each step leads to the finished project. I have seen 5 of your videos and will continue to follow you. P.S. I like that you take us for hikes. I was injured 20+ years ago. & no longer can get out into nature.
LOVE this series! Many of us are "lifers" with long hair and fear letting it look outdated or like we're trying to be 20 again. GREAT info! Love your wife in the videos too!!
I've had straight long hair for 35 years because I wanted to make my hubby happy. Also, I had six kids and it was easy to put it up in a pony tail or French twist. Now, I deal with Chronic illness, so I need something easy. I am sooo ready for a change at 58. You have given me the courage to go to a salon and get some layering. I may not be able to leave home much, but I deserve to feel beautiful! I love this series. You've done a fantastic job. Thank you for being so inspiring.
Yes excellent series! I started watching at 3 am. My hair dresser also watched the way I layered my hair and I noticed she did exactly as I did. I wanted my hair straight across on the back not angled to a point and that's what your tutorial helped me achieve. Thank u!
Thank you so much for this series! So helpful to understand the technical aspects of cut, layering and styling. Also, LOVE your pups and your wife is a good sport and excellent model for us.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I’m so glad you liked the series. And I definitely can’t argue with you, my wife is an awesome sport. I really appreciate the feedback.
Great series. Just now going back to long hair at nearly 70. (I know...) but I'm enjoying the versatility of it. This series was a big help. I also enjoyed the interaction between you two!
Thank you so much! That’s way too nice of ya!!! We definitely have our issues but all in all I think we’re pretty lucky with each other. :). I appreciate that feedback!
@@justinhickox I smiled when you said you & Dionna have your issues. My husband and I were married 54 years when he passed a couple of years ago. Because we were married a long time we were asked for our secret. My husband came up with a great answer. He said after 30 years or so it was a piece of cake. By then we had resolved our differences or decided they weren't that important. Hope you have a long workable marriage.
Loved the series! I really learned a lot! Your wife is a great sport and very beautiful. My hair is straight and long and Watching this I realize I just need to shape it up instead of cutting it off! Thank you for sharing your time and creativity ❤️🦋
LOVE these videos! I've been cutting my own long hair for years but keeping it very simple as I'm not a stylist in any way. I'm fascinated learning all of this info! Justin, you're so knowledgable and explain things so well, and the two of you are adorable!
I think your channel is by far, THE most entertaining, informational, educational and worthwhile I have ever come across. You guys are great. Keep 'em coming. I'm loving your work. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and tips.
Absolutely love your videos! I have learned so much and I love that you bring your viewers on your hikes with you (on most of your videos)! Your wife is stunning and such a fun sport! Keep doing what you're doing...the best!
Thx Justin, for sharing the secrets of the trade w/ us ! You and your wife are such an adorable, fun couple!! Love watching these with you two together in them!!!
Wow, I have loved this series. You give us knowledge without stuffiness or condescending attitude. Now, if I can only translate to my stylist. My appt is dec 6, hard to get in with COVID. Thank you Justin.
@@justinhickox I love the series! I have long hair and have just put off salon due to covid restrictions and I have yet to find a stylist that is knowledgeable as you in proper layering. I had 1 fabulous haircut from a stylist about a decade ago , then she moved out of state. Since then I have paid various price points only to feel like all I got was a trim on the ends and layering I could have done myself. Sigh! When I do decide to go to a salon, I will take your advice and tell the stylist the my explanation is by showing your video. 😊
@@midlifemom5829 my exact story. I would probably pay any amount (which I have paid a lot for a(bad) cut) just to get a hc like Justin did, Mine is totally straight with (finally) grown out bangs and I'm scared to death to get it cut. I have an appt on Dec 3, but will probably get chicken and cancel or go in and get my ends cut. Good luck finding someone
Your wife is gorgeous! She has that Julie Roberts signature smile and seems so sweet. I watched all three video’s. I gathered very useful information. I don’t quite have curly hair but it’s more than just wavy. My husband hate’s when I use heat on it. I just end up with blah! Wish I could have a haircut by you! I told you once before I am at a crossroads with my hair. I have been watching all of your video’s and I think this series has given me the most information for me. Thank you 💗
Such a great video! Gah. So tired of watching influences who don't know what they are doing and just selling a bunch of products. Technique is so important!
Two blow dry/straightners later using your instructions, my hair looks amazing - the results are “salon perfect” and also your recommendation of Olaplex no 3 - never had my hair looking so healthy - I’m over the moon - even my husband noticed both times! Thank you Justin you’re a 🌟
Glad to found your channel. I'm already learned a lot trough 2 videos😱😱. You have a lot of knowledge. Thank you for sharing this. Greetings from London!❤♥️❤
Ok, I'm hooked and addicted to your tips!!!! I'm on your 4th video with several more to go. I wish I lived near where you are, but I'm in CT. I did live in Rainier, WA, but that still would have been too far from where you are. You are really making me smile and happy - all because of your positive energy!
I have watched all 3 long hair videos in this series. You are a master! Your wife is a doll and good sport. I wish I had found you two months ago. It would have been helpful to show my former beautician what I was asking for. My hair was as long as your wife's, single-layer with bangs and the sides fringed just a little. I asked my beautician to put in some layers to create some movement and lift. When she took my hair from my ears up, combed it straight up in the air and cut straight across, 5 inches long from my crown, I knew I was in big trouble. Horrible. Most of the layers came in around my ears, creating something like helmet head, but with long hair below it. My new beautician was kind when she said it was butchered. It was. My new beautician has mad scissor skills. In one haircut she straightened out the layers, blended and texturized, but needed to take a total of 7 inches off the back make it all come together. In essence I lost 18 months of growing my hair out and my top layer is now 5 inches long. What I had asked for was the same haircut you gave your wife in the first video and, of course keeping my bangs. But, no worries. I am in good hands now. It will grow back. And I'm not angry at my former beautician. She simply didn't know how to do the haircut. I will continue to follow you. I still have what is considered long hair, but certainly not as long as it was prior to the first bad chop. Lastly, my new beautician and I decided to restore my natural warm medium brown hair color. Bye bye blonde. I look FABULOUS. P.S.... I am 62 years old and yes I wear long hair!
Thank goodness you told me this was one of three! I went back and watched the other two before this one. I would have not been happy if I didn’t know because the content is so good.
WOW just discovered these videos... and LOVE them all! Have seen about 8 this morning alone (yikes!). Justin, you present things in such a logical and unpretentious way. The knowledge just 'hits the nail on the head' on so many of my own hair issues (especially as I grow older), plus love the interactions between you and your beautiful wife. Am looking forward to seeing more (and learning more!) Thank you!
I've enjoyed this series so much, I watched part 2 first & that video introduced me to your fun edited videos. My Mom will be cutting my hair today & I will show her some points I learned, thank you so much for giving us the confidence to get layers for those of us that were hiding behind one length tresses
Thank you so much! I'm stoked to hear I could help you out with getting some layering done! I can't wait to hear how it goes!!! Thanks for checking out the series!
Brilliant tips thank you I’ll definitely be trying both styles - now I see we’re I’ve been going wrong! Such a good idea your wife doing her own hair and resulting in a professional way - so now there’s hope for me! Luv your dogs 😊
HA! Loved this video. Dionna was a great model! The tips are great. I've got wavy long, thick, fine hair and sometimes struggle to get volume on top and not look like the dreaded triangle. Love the dogs too. Our Frenchies are now following Kevin on IG!
Thank you! I totally hear ya with the triangle. Your texture of hair with that amount of length will definitely lean towards that. It’s all about the layers and texture in this situation! And how awesome you’re following Kev! You’ve got to send him a PM and let us know so we can check out your pups!
Just found you & your lovely family after watching I smashed the like button!! I am off to watch the 2 videos in this series. Many blessings to you and your family!!
Thank you for all your advice. You gave me the courage to get a hair cut and I love it! Also your advice gave me confidence to explain the hair cut that I wanted.
Love watching you guys!! I think you need to go "on tour." You could set up make overs in different states and then more of us could benefit from your expertise. I would love to see you cut more curly hair. There are so many different textures and curl types to work with. Thanks for all the tips!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. Have you had a chance to check out the video I did on how to curl with the flat iron? If you haven’t I think you’d really like it. It goes pretty in-depth into how to effectively curl your hair with a flat iron.
I LOVED THIS! Dionna is an absolute hoot and without question, I have no doubt that she's the only one who could put up with you! You complement each other and are one another's ying and yang. Funnily enough, I watched this after I got out of the shower, while I let my hair air dry a bit before I dried/styled it and Dionna, I'll have you know that I sing my ass of in the shower (this morning I was bopping along to Prince and Lady Gaga) so...we are definitely shower sistahs! Helpful tips as always Justin. Hug the pooches for me (and Dionna too)!
So glad I found you! Love this so much... I am 44 and have long hair down to my butt. It has a thin texture on the top layer and the rest is thick to course texture. But I don't have a lot of bulk if that makes sense. It is very normal in that I could go a week or longer without washing and it isnt oily. I do not blow dry it and might curl it along with products etc a few times a year. After this series I now know what to ask for to get the look I want (pretty much what your wife's look like except longer length). Because the rare times ive gone to salon (I dye my own hair but never take scissors to it) they took so much length I would be in tears... Cuz even a few inches off feels like I got my hair chopped haha. Thank you for taking the time to educate us! PS id like to add that a good way to make curling hair more natural looking is to change directions with the iron. Every other section, except the face framing area because you'll either want that back or forward not both. Also with my length, in order to get the top layer to hold curl I use a wand without the clip on that area first the do the rest of the length. So in 2 parts basically. And it really helps, although it will be so much better once I get my layers. Thanks again!!
Loved this video! Great tips and entertainment! Got my Phat Hair in the mail yesterday and used it this morning! OMG! Looks like I have twice as much hair and smells great! Wish I'd found this year's ago!
Informative and entering is a win! Wish you could cut my hair. I get a decent job of long layers at a local shop, but still..... Your styling tips are really helpful. I recently bought the Wet Brush for my daughter and me. We both have long hair and I always thought it was a no no to brush. I used a wide tooth comb but find the brush much more effective. And the Dyson dryer, ahhh that is on my bucket list. Love your videos. Keep them coming!
You two are so cute. Loved the video. I’m 60, with longer hair and it’s great learning new tips. I would have loved to see you curl the other side with a flatiron. I just got a new one, specifically to curl my hair with and it takes practice! Thanks!
Thank you! She ads the cute to us for sure! :) I actually did another video all about how to flat iron hair and used her as a model. If you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, I think you'd really like it!
Great videos! My hair is similar to your wife accept finer and not as much. I cut it myself and this was awesome to watch. I have a long face so seeing how you cut the layers was great! 🙏
Thank you for these informative videos on long hair. Im 64 and grew out my side-swept bangs a year ago, my hair is fine and to the center of my back. I feel like all I get when I go to my salon is a trim and standard layers. I plan to try the Phat Hair product you used in this video.

Oh I love you two so much XX and ur furbabys XxX thank you iv learnt a lot about long hair X
You two are CUTE!! Thanks for these tips. My hair is cut almost exactly the same. This will help.
Great series! You guys are awesome!
Thank you so much! I'm stoked you liked it! :)
You look beautiful! Love the tutorials! Must get rid of my triangle now, lol.
Great series!! As always love your videos.
Thank you so much Shari!
So glad I discovered your channel. Great vids.
Thank you Karen! Welcome to the fam!
Absolutely great video!!! Thank you!
Thank you! Those wet brushes are great right! Love them! I appreciate the feedback and support!
I really enjoy these videos
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that.
The wife is stunning! Dogs adorable! Video helped thanks. Great team made me laugh a few times thanks ♥
I liked the way she curled her hair, looks really nice..
