    Lyrics:
I thought they didn’t make women like you anymore
    Kindness in spades, patience galore
Elegant ways but ready for war
I thought they didn’t make women like you anymore
You’re modest enough to not strut your stuff
But confident enough to know ya got it
    Don’t need someone’s validations
    Couldn’t care less who’s offering
I thought they didn’t make women like you anymore
All of these princesses are such a bore
You’re a queen and you’re the girl next door
I thought they didn’t make women like you anymore
You have the perseverance and followthrough
To build your career if you choose
    You understand compromise, jealousy too
Taught me about blessings and baby blues
Oh until I met you I searched this place
For someone with class, conviction, and grace
I thought it impossible, it couldn’t be discovered
Like a car full of pretty girls that don’t hate each other
You know how men think, we rarely move past appraising a woman’s appearance
Well, judge as we may, we dig our own graves
still I think its alright to say this:
You look good in a t shirt, all stars, and jeans
look good all done up in makeup and bling
look good in pajamas and sharp tailored suits
look good in dresses and cowboy boots
I thought they didn’t make women like you anymore
    Passion for days, compassion galore
I am amazed and grateful to
God and your mother for women like you

This reminds me of a TSA as Darling song! Great. To be honest the whole B side of Gleam III is excellent.

Patience can only go so far… When woman are not respected by a male, it is a turn off… Woman give respect to a man , that provides respect to them.
Men do dig their own graves.🤷‍♀️Grace is only given to those that are deserving, not to the man that demands it..

This sounds like the song the guy on the stairs in Animal House was playing before Belushi smashed his guitar.

I have a feeling that the lead singer of this band cheated on his wife. Just a feeling...

Same. The lyrics are awful. A rare miss for the Avetts.

I love these guys but this song makes me cringe. The idealized woman who is patient and kind and elegant? It's not 1950, Seth! Nice that you mentioned she's even allowed to have a career if she wants - how progressive of you! I wonder if his wife actually likes this.

Patience, kindness, and elegance never went out of style. And believe me from my experience, they aren't close to a given in a relationship these days. I would like to think I held virtues of patience, kindness, and elegance.
