- In this epic episode, the MCM boys go head to head in a series of incredible challenges to see which $2000 modified car is the ultimate winner of this budget challenge. They'll be competing in a series of fun submitted challenges including drifting, burnouts, drag racing, and many more! But who will be the ultimate winner?
Will it be the TOYOTA SERA - a turbo converted show stopper?
Or the Nissan NX-R Coupe - A "proper" sports car by the iconic SR20 engine?

And due to our crappy car industry, poor leadership, and bad decision making within the automotive industry, we will never have awesome vehicles like those anymore.

I would watch the crap out of a series to rescue the Sera from it's impending death. Cool car, low production numbers, deserves to be saved. Restoring it completely using 90's aesthetic would be a really fun series.
I was thinking the same, restore it back to a similar style it is now but with modern enhancements, good tune, ecu, suspension etc
The amount of money it'd take is probably just not worth it. It's basically a rolling piece of rust attached to an engine with a hole in, it's not a Sera anymore.
Technically almost any car is worth saving. Especially one so quirky, rare and "Tastefully" done up.
Some of us know the right people, have the right tools and resources and some don't. Since MCM is a content creator, we the audience might just get away requesting for the kind of content that we could or would probably never be able to do or in a reasonable time frame. Unfortunately with Scheduled projects and other things in the pipeline this might be a tall ask :(

I hope they just take the body kit and wheels off and give it a 7/10 restoration. Nothing crazy but fix the rust and other issues then a cheap paint job
Not gonna lie, and I’m showing my age here, but other than the rust, and the tatty bumper/arches, the Sera looks sick. With the body kit/paint tidied up I’d drive it.
Colour and front bumper from the body kit are vulgar, imo. Love the cream interior though. Tidy that up a bit, paint the car metallic black and put something more subtle on the front of it and I'd be all over it.

The Tug O' War result wasn't surprising: the Sera's running on tires from the colonial era, it doesn't have the grip to fight back.

i dont care who's car wins, in my opinion Marty's car wins hands down, in my eyes it is the definition of 90's, body kit, lambo doors, obnoxious paint, phat rims, can't beat it
Those are not lambo doors those are sera doors, when the come factory that way calling them lambo doors would be like saying that driving in reverse in a fwd makes it a rwd car, slightly similar but definitely an incorrect statement.

I have to disagree. The styling on the Sera maybe, but there were more NA, fwd, rice rockets racing around than a Rare gullwing turbo swapped car.

I'd like to see them turbo the NX, and rebuild the Sera. It'd be cool to see them do another like 2sexy v 2wisted thing, where they both put actual time and effort into making the cars as good as they can, then compete with them. It'd be cool as hell seeing a rematch after they are actually built up properly and not rushed.

9:04 I am so happy that Marty knows of the Toyota Paseo, I had one (1996, manual, black) and it was the love of my life, that car saw me from when I started driving to its early death at the hands of a imprudent driver on the motorway a year ago, he went right into my lane without previous warning, at high speed, he smashed my front wheel and part of the engine bay, almost ate the wall (we were through a mountain that was cut to build the road) I was left unharmed, thank god.
But my little Paseo was smashed, I could not repair it.
I met my first love in that car, it saw me become a man, traveled long distances in it listening to some chill music, and the seat belt was always there comforting me in the hard times of my life, always sat in there 5 minutes after a long ride to prepare myself of the day ahead. The engine wasn't the most powerful, but reliable as hell, I tortured the poor beast and it kept going, no matter what. That car was there in the happiest day of my life, and the saddest one too. It was always there, until it was no more.
So many good memories. Not many left on my country, sad that I will never own one of those again.
I will cherish the memories I had in that car forever. In some aspects it wasn't the best car, never did a major modification on it, complicated (and expensive) in my country to do it legally, but damn, I enjoyed it none the less.
If someone made me choose between a Supra and a brand new Paseo... I will pick the Paseo every, single, time.
Hope that some day these two gentlemen speak about this car in the show, even if it is a brief mention. I hope that if you, reader of this comment, have a car that you cherish with all your heart, never let it go. They do not betray you. Might make you angry sometimes, but they are always there for you. Give them all the love they deserve!

I stil drive mine as a daily (1996 black paseo/cynos) fun car i bought it for 300 euro 3 years ago (now 290k km) and its still running very well without spending too much money to keep it on the road

I feel like the Sera in white, with some normal looking black wheels and no body kit would look pretty slick. Both of these are interesting looking cars and in 2020 there aren’t many interesting looking cars unless you’re spending a lot of cash.

Sure there are plenty of bland cars today, but there was in the past as well. Even Kia has a few good looking cars today.

I really would like to see a rebuild of the Sera. The engine should be an 4E-FTE . The 4E-FE (or 5E-FE 1.5 version in Paseo) engines, which are compatible in most parts can be found in lots of cars like corolla, starlet etc and really cheap.
Or better: go for an 3S-G(T)E (MR-2 or Celica)

I am just hoping they saved the doors, windshield, hatch, and tail lights from it. Those all appear to be serviceable original pieces that could keep another more intact Sera in the world.

Bummer, I have a 13b-rew thats been streetported with a single turbo, fmic, wide band, ebc, water meth injection etc etc.. all controlled by MicroTech and swapped into a 6 speed Rx8 GT on Tein suspension with Works heavy ass 19 inch VS KF stagger fit wheels, braking provided by Project Mu sitting in my garage waiting for a new water pump and headder repair. But the thing is awesome. I do not know if Rx8's are available in Australia. I wish I lived there, I would want to bring my car with me.

Chris Tobias 6.2 LS is no joke NA. My truck makes 423hp on ethanol. 0-60 in 5.6. Not bad for a crew cab pickup truck.

The NX is more likely to live on, sadly I think that the sera is going to end up being a parts car sooner or later
Lol, it already was a parts car more or less being impossible to register and just being toyed with while being rusted out. It's kind of like that car you got for the interior trim bits that was in a front/side collision that you race around the field before scrapping it.

Maybe 10 years ago they could have done that. But you rarely even see 80s Commodores and Falcons now. Cheapest 80s Commodore on Carsales is 10k for a VH. Late 80s Falcons at least are cheap. Neither of these count as muscle though, they're just base model 6 cyls. There's a few 80s V8 Commodores for 25k+. And there's only ONE 80s Falcon with a V8 on Carsales and it's 37k. 70s had a lot more variety, but they are outrageously expensive. They could probably find an old shell for reasonable money but it would be a huge build to get it to where it should be.
