RIA is well below Staccato, Atlas and Prodigy. The Prodigy is a much more reliable and flatter shooting pistol than the Rock Island. Furthermore, the Prodigy is made in Illinois, Staccato in Texas and Atlas in Vermont. RIA is made in the Philippines with slightly higher quality than a high point
@@dailygrind5575 I can tell you straight up you don't have a clue to what you are saying. I have well over 35 handguns from budget to high dollar. I have a Prodigy and I also have 4 R I. I will run my R I bullet for bullet any day against the so called high dollar/ way over priced Staccatos, Atlas and Prodigy. The said guns come with a better trigger and a few things like slide cuts [some] and Optics cuts. Other than that they are extremely over priced. Just because it's made in America at a way over priced point doesn't make it any better, only far more expensive. This can be proven easy. Again You don't know what you are talking about fact.
@@arlissyoung8899 that’s good for you and your 35 fisher price guns that probably consists of a bunch of High Points, Rock Islands and Turkish clones. The real facts are that the Prodigy and Staccato both recoil less, therefore allow for faster follow up shots when seconds count. I had to change out the floor plates on the mags for mag extensions to work on my R I with the mag well. After that they have been running great and it gives the extra 5 rounds also. I use Taylor Freelance for most all my go to mag extension and mag wells and back straps.
The RI mag seems compatible with the Mec Gar made Para mag is that right? It looks similar to the Bul double stack mag as well; anyone know if it runs the Bul mags or willing to try it?
@@LVbibby Yes the Mec Gar Para mags are the ones I got and use. Can you do a video talking about the base Prodigy vs. RIA if someone wanted to buy either and upgrade it? Which has the better build quality and how much you should budget?
I purchased a Hayes Custom RIA The base gun they used was the Ultra Match Pro. An excellent base gun. So much so that Hayes removed the RIA stamp and stamped the gun with their signature Texas horns stamp. The Match Pro sells for about $1000.00
Retail $ on the two guns is a big difference. Prodigy is ~$1,400 , RI is ~$900. You can buy lots of parts for $500. The Prodigy has a smaller grip than the RI. Plastic vs. metal grip. Both feel right in a medium large hand.
Clean up the tooling cut marks on the slide and rails, polish /stone kiss the fire components. Change out the extractor with a Wilson Combat bullet proof and zero malfunctions at 1300 rnds. Large grip like a H&K USP45 expert but if you have medium large hands it won't be an issue. SUPER accurate with the standard barrel no need to replace it with a bull barrel IMO. Fast trigger too.
I have one. Got the full HCG package. I'm talking the whole shebang. Thing runs better and works better than an atlas. It's nowhere near the same pistol you send in
I have a host of high-end gunz. The Prodigy is good, but is an assembly-line gun. I sold my first one because I had huge early sale issues (failure to eject and feed, failure to battery). Springfield has now fixed those issues. The Platypus is great, and totally customizable. It is much more of a "hand-assembled" gun. The Bull Armory 1911s are fantastic. I have the 2011 Cesar and it is a killer, phenomenal. However, the Bul Armory SAS II is the bomb. A great 2011 gun at a great price, and my first choice. The Pro model is ported. If you do the Prodigy send it to Skips to at least get the EGW ignition system installed. Makes a huge difference.
Taylor Freelance Magwell and +4 mag extensions. Little to no frame fitting required. Running Para and Armscore 16 rounders in my limited .40 USPSA RIA and getting 20 RDS competition legal at 140mm. Should be able to get 22/23 in 9mm. Did plus up on the mag springs ($40 bucks for 4 mags) No need to run MBX just for the capacity. That said I have a number of MBX mag's for other 2011's and love them.

The prodigy doesn’t look like it necessarily has less felt recoil, just a noticeably quicker return to zero resulting in faster follow up shots.
The prodigy’s polymer grip probably helps with the felt recoil being it’ll flex and give abit under recoil
Is the grip on the prodigy more narrow more ergonomic? I have a Ria 10mm Dbl stack and it's like a 2×4
Yeah way more ergonomic in comparison definitely no what u mean I am interested in so alternative palmswell grips for it to round it out eventually
