    I agree with a lot of what you said. We currently own a Redwood 38FL and enjoy it. We are in process of building a Spacecraft because we want to full time for a long long time.
    You are correct about the frames, that and the lifetime fiberglass roof did it for us. Living in the south is hard on a RV roof. You should do a story on that.

    I hope the higher end manufactures add a floorplan similar to the Grand design 376flth. Hauling a golf cart down the road while preserving the space of the living room all in the package of a well constructed unit would be nice.

    You need to visit the New Horizon factory. You can see them actually building the chassis. Really impressive to see all the steps in building their rigs . We considered Luxe and asked for a 39-40’ that didn’t have the sink in the island. They said they couldn’t do that , we went with New Horizon as they can do just about anything you can think of .

    Great video...again! My only thought on the current DRVs is that the new ones are definitely suffering now that Thor has taken over. The new ones, while still having a great frame, simply can't compete with Luxe, New Horizon or Spacecraft...even though they are in the same price point of at least Luxe and NH.

    As a Disabled Veteran I do not have the financial ability to look at luxury brands (I prefer 'solid' to luxury built anyways). What brands (or lines in a brand) can stand up to full-time living? Perfect for me would be counterspace (kitchen and bath), residential fridge, Queen Bed, recliner tall enough to have head support when watching a 50"+ TV, possible even space for a computer desk. Will be my wife and I traveling the country. Most important is the recliner and TV as I have spine damage requiring lots of rest to deal with pain.
    (I asked a similar question on your video from yesterday where you cleaned out the 'old' RV. Hopefully I was thinking better today and you understand my question better.)

    Another well done video. I also believe it also dependent on how the end user intends on using the RV, if your continually moving it down the road traveling then a frame prospective might be a priority, whereas if it’s parked most of the time then the interior, residential style might be a better fit.

    Great video. A question, for instance, we are looking at getting another 5th wheel in about 3 years to live and travel in. if I was wanting to buy a used 2020 or 2019 or even a 2018 5th wheel, how many years would it take for the greatest depreciation of a 5th wheel to effect the price. Specifically we are looking at midbunks. Hope this makes sense and you understand what I'm talking about. And I understand that there are a lot of determining factors, but on the average.

      @@CraftCraver1 My thing will be creating my youtube channel to become the next youtube sensation and become a millionaire doing so. Do you suppose this is a good and solid choice for me? (Joking)
      My wife does her "Crikut" stuff and has a lot of the "machinery" that goes with it and will, of course She'll be getting more stuff for it as well. She does all kinds of cool little things like makes lettering for cups, makes hats with another machine, shirts from another one she's got and some other things that I just ignore.
      That being said, having the space for it, instead of all over the kitchen table would take us straight to the idea of the bunk.
      Our tastes are so impossible though....
      Having the bunk takes away from the separation of the 3 spaces... living separate from the kitchen to the separate bed sort of concept.
      DRV has a 'decent' bunk house but she's so OCD about the kit and living being in the same room and it's killing me trying to find the "right one"!
      Looking at the purchase of a full time 5th wheel together is like the stressful/craziness/couldn't agree on anything adventure we went through a year and half ago moving from So Cal to Arizona! I still have a red forehead from all the dang head butting! lol

    I looked at the floor plans of DRV and Luxe and found that only one floor plan out of all those models has a dinette that seats 4 people, that is the DRV Cumberland. That is unacceptable to me. Also, I want a half bath off the kitchen because I will be taking my daughters with me on some trips and don't want them to have to go through the bedroom to use a bathroom in the middle of the night (or any other time for that matter). DRV also has vents all over the floors of the living area, which I don't like at all. The only floor plan I really like so far is the grand design solitude 373fb. Grand Design seems fairly good on reliability, but I'm sure the frame isn't as good as the DRV frame.

    We love the interior of the new Winnebago Horizon, but I can't buy a bus because I need to be able to mount 3 forward facing child seats. Problem with all luxury 5th wheels is that their interiors are designed with old folks in mind with very classical furnishings.
    I'm ready to pay 200k+ to get a modern looking interior in a high end 5th wheel, but no one makes them.
    Enough appealing to baby boomers, let's make a modern 5th wheel for the younger (40+) generation.

    JD. how come you never include a Jayco Pinnacle in these reviews?
    Isn’t it up there with at least the Riverstone ?

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  4 роки тому

      kind of but it shares the same frame and structure as the North Point. Similar to how Montana and Landmark have several lines that share the same frame. Riverstone is unique because of the frame it rides on.

      I was referring to quality and craftsmanship overall compared to say the Riverstone or the Beacon.
      I’m interested in full time 4 seasons in the next couple of years, and the top of the Jayco lineup looked interesting.
      My first choice is the class 8 Renegade line ... $$$

    I am going to purchase an RV in 2020. I am somewhat handy, but I don’t really want to spend a lot of time fixing things. I owned a class C for 5 years and nothing ever broke. It was flawless. I may have just got lucky. Can you do a video or point us to a resource for which brands have the most or least trips to the shop? I loved this video but my rig will be weekend only, 40 days or less a year. I don’t need this level. Do a video on the best built TT. That would be great for lots of your viewers. Thanks for all you have taught me.

      Craig,
      RVing is a hobby. While some of us are full timers, it's still a hobby. I don't know of any hobby where you don't work on it on regular basis. If you keep that mind set in place then you will have a better time with your RV. While we all want better quality units you must remember that an RV is a house rolling down the road getting beat to death. I don't care how much you spend for an RV it's going to have some issues. You got lucky the first time around.

      I totally understand and agree. But, I want to enjoy the family and the destination, that is the hobby to me. I will take care of things, but like any other product there must be better built brands and not as well built. There are car brands known for quality and brands that aren't. You can always get a lemon. I was just hoping for a discussion on TT like the one above JD just did on 5th wheels.

    Where do you consider Grand Design Solitude? Is it a tier below DRV or do you consider it to be comparable?

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  4 роки тому +1

      I consider it to be well below. GD has a great interior PDI at the factory that identifies cosmetic issues well. Grand Design really competes with brands like Big Horn, Columbus, Jayco North Point, Cardinal, and Montana.

    Grand design, All day Every day. You can name what makes a brand good by their product, but NO brand will ever match Grand design in customer support and things that are out of warranty.
    Try having any other make of Trailer, three years out of warranty, and getting free replacement stuff from the manufacturer. Only Grand Design. Good luck getting that from any of those high-mark brands
