Hi Matt, are you still doing these monthly App Picks videos or did you "cancel" the series? I like them and just want to know if I should expect more of them or not. Thanks for your good work!
@@TheLinuxCast It's not broken. It is just removed from functioning because there is a separate tool now. It makes sense because one would want to use the colorpicker at any stage and not having to open the pallete first. At least that is my understanding. Cheers.
@@NebRadojkovic the thing is, the old one worked outside of gimp. The new one doesn't. Or at least I couldn't figure out how to get to work outside gimp.
@@samyaks Ah, well, I have noticed that some tests automatically end as soon as you enter the last character but some others will require you to press space following the last word in order to end
@@merulox Oh I see, that's definitely not expected. I remember handling this case to ensure that there's no extra space at the end. Anyway, I'll open an issue on the GitHub repo and fix it soon.
Glad to see this back Matt! Research and testing is as much work as the editing is... 😛 Going to grab Gpick when I get a chance. My production computer is off-line. Hdd is puking it's guts out. Tried to fix it but no go. Bit Rot I guess... It is 6 years old... 😞 LLAP 🖖
An application I find very useful and is available on Win as well as OFOS (Out Favourite Operating System) 😉 is the hierarchical notes taking application called Cherry tree. Recommended.
I like how composable tt is. It fits into linux really well. When I made toipe and shared it around, I was made aware of many such terminal based typing apps. Each unique in its own way. The ultimate goal of toipe will be to take the best of all of these. Composability like tt is definitely something I want to add.
I have a idea. Put all apps you are thinking about, but not take in, in a seperate clip, and talk about to. Instead of one video, we get two. One of working app, and one not working.
This video was posted early for Patrons (tier 2+). patreon.com/thelinuxcast
Cup of coffee ready. Enjoying your content, Matt 💪
Great to be here! You are excellent at presentation of linux topics.
Hey, thanks for the support, I really appreciate it!
Now this is a series I'll see myself watching everytime
My god, I've been looking for an offline typing test for so long. Randomly came across this video, and found this gem

?
@7:38 what's the fetch app you're using?
Neofetch
@@TheLinuxCast darn, I was so sure it's the nerdfetch with patches.
Thanks for the all great content you make for us!
The last one is a Gnome app and your description of it applies for most of Gnome apps really.
Cool video and thank you for putting this together 😁
There is a separate colorpicker in Gimp now , as a separate tool, not when you click on the front or back color anymore.
So the one in the color pallete thing is just forever broken now?

@@TheLinuxCast When you are in the colorpick tool, tick the "put inside pallet" and it will work like before. Cheers!'
Add to pallete - sorry...
I waste way too much time on toipe. I'm addicted to typing.
I use monkeytype. Every day. So me too.
Thank you, glad you liked the app. Do you have any suggestions to improve toipe in any way? Or any bugs that you noticed?

Pastel is also a great terminal colour tool
Love your videos! Do you plan to release a FAQ? If yes, where can I submit questions?
I do like this kind of content. Thank you!
Thanks fro sharing matt
Suggestion for an app: speedcrunch - a really nice simple & powerful calculator, written in qt
Do someone know about a clipboard manager that allows pasting using global shortcuts?
You forgot the Nix package manager....
Thanks

If you have yad installed:- yad --on-top --color --gtk-palette
Instead of toipe i use one called tt

Amberol? By God that sounds like a sleep aid.
Did he say 50gb of memory? 😮😲😱🤯
A great command-line tool, exiftool, will clean all metadata from your images, PDFs, etc. "exiftool -all= image.jpg"
