I want to put this throwback on your radar for Easter! This recipe still hits every time!
Ingredients
Broth:
4 leg quarters ( 3.5-4lb )
1 onion
2 stalks celery
2 bay leave
1/2 tsp peppercorns
2 tbsp better than bouillon
chicken bouillon cube( i used chicken and herbs bouillon)
2 carrots
water
1/2 tbsp chicken seasoning
1/2 tsp poultry seasoning
Cornbread
3 buttermilk cornbread packages
2 eggs
2 cup milk
1/4 cup oil
Dressing
2 eggs, breaten
1 can cream of chicken
1 can cream of onion
1/2 onion
3 tbsp butter
2 stalks celery
cornbread
chicken'
broth, i used 3 1/2 cups
1 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp poultry seasoning
Note: You really can use any condensed soup you like that fits the flavor profile. cream of chicken, cream of celery, cream of mushroom, cream of golden mushroom, etc.

I'm sorry but, I have to add a little bit of sugar in my dressing. It should not make it sweet at all but it will help to round the flavor or the dressing. It's the same thing if you don't put that tablespoon of salt in something sweet to help round and balance it.

Thank you for sharing. I could eat this as a meal all itself. I use Jiffy mix, it makes a good cornbread just as it is, and often goes on sale. We can absolutely be best friends because you love that butter too and you cook your celery until it's soft too. This is good southern home cooking.

I add 4 pieces of white toast and a sleeve of crushed saltine crackers crushed to crumbled cornbread that I cooked the day before and let dry out over night, usually use 5-7 cups of turkey/chicken stock, add about 3 cups to start then add a cup at a time and stir let sit for 10 mins each time until it stops soaking up stock, taste make sure seasoning is right then beat 5-6 eggs and stir in good
Bake 350 for about an hr
Dressing puffs up like a soufflé and is so light and fluffy and melts in your mouth

I’m so excited to make this for Thanksgiving this year! My stock is boiling as I type this. My late FIL made chicken and dressing year round but sadly didn’t write the recipe down. My husband got so excited when I showed him this video. He said, “That’s it! That’s it! Her’s looks JUST LIKE Dad’s!” We are so expectant to have a piece of him with us that we though was gone forever. He was a Mississippi, born and raised, Southern cook.
ONE QUESTION: can I prepare the dressing the night before and refrigerate uncooked then add the chicken and two eggs and bake on Thanksgiving morning? Making my first turkey, etc this year 🤞

Baaaaaaaaaaby, this dressing was everythang! The flavor! Ommmg!!! I messed up by adding too much broth, and it's a little too wet, but I'm still eating it! Lol Thanks, momma! Can't wait to try your other recipes

This looks incredible. I messed up one year, I love Jiffy cornbread, (not a fan of unsweetened cornbread), so I tried to make a cornbread dressing with that Ugh, I won't do that again. Sugar doesn't belong. This recipe will be tried believe me. I love cornbread dressing when it is made right, you made it right. Thank you Miss Camirra. 🥰🥰😊😊
i agree the sugar doesnt go well in cornbread dressing. i have mde it with jiffy but i only used one box. the other box was a unsweeteened cornbread. it was great. but nah cant use only jiffy, its too sweet

What is the cooking temp & time for using an aluminum pan?
same cooking temp and about similar time. but it may cook a little quicker if the pan is wide. so check it at 45 min and see if it needs more time or not

i use some sugar in my homemade cornbread if not for dressing though 😬
QUESTION: Instead of making cornbread and adding the other ingredients could you use day-old sourdough bread chopped up into chunks?
Yes. Make sure u adjust the amount of broth to match the amount of bread you have.
