    okay. i went and watched TGCC recipe. so i’ll offer completely unbiased feedback as someone who never even heard of cornbread dressing. they are both making stock with a mirepoix and a base. they have deviations is seasoning, but the same cornbread mix and soups. i am an italian american. our grandmothers made tomato sauce (we call it gravy ik ik). you could easily put 2 grandmothers together and see them start with garlic and oil. they can swear you can only use san marzano tomatoes from the can. they will both use a cento tomato paste. one may use sugar. the other may use wine. but here’s the point: one grandmother is NOT giving credit to the other for her gravy recipe. all i see here is a traditional way that this is commonly made. camirra the goodness of your heart comes through in everything you make. i’ll never make it bc i hate cooking. i found you bc of your pound cakes, which i do make and are the bomb. but you are so enjoyable and funny that i hang on every word you say and you have a subscriber forever.

      Thanks so much for your high regards! yes it is true that you will see many similar recipes when looking at traditional cooking. Ppl in similar regions tend to make things in a similar way, plus there is just a "typical" way you make a certain dish. i totally get your example. also, since it seems like ppl want to know the difference b/n our recipes: i use eggs in mine, poultry seasoning, lots of celery, no peppers, different cooking techniques like sautéing my veggies and reducing my broth, etc. and im pretty sure 90% of all the women in the South I know that make cornbread dressing do either what i do or what TGCC does. 😂 Thanks for watching. ❤

    Thank you Camirra!! I’ve never made dressing before and I’m 58 also. And my husband is the cook in our house. But I saw your easy-to-follow recipe for this dressing, and I knew I HAD to try it. I made it tonight (11/3/23), and it came out PERFECT! I used a little more broth; sunflower oil instead of canola oil; 1/8th of a teaspoon garlic powder equals 1 clove of garlic, and cream of celery instead of the cream of onion, with the cream of chicken. And MAN OH MAN was it good. My hubby tried it and told me don’t order the dressing from our usual caterer this year for Thanksgiving. He said you’re making the dressing baby. Brought tears to my eyes. 🥹 I was SO HAPPY!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾This man is a southern cook raised by his mama from Alabama, and can REALLY cook everything EXCEPT good dressing. 😂So for him to like my dressing so much to want it at the Thanksgiving table. I am SO thankful for you Camirra. Praying all the best for you and your family FOREVER. ❤

      That's what I'm saying. If you compensate with the right amount of seasoning, it's not sweet once it's finished. People saying they hate 'sweet' dressing obviously aren't seasoning correctly because baby, it's not sweet once you add all the seasonings and savory elements.

    Hey Camirra!Your dressing turned out perfect. I make mines from scratch and I use sausage in mines and I take the turkey giblets along with the wing tips to make the stock. I add in red and green bell pepper for color which is the only thing I do differently from yours. I also make bread herb dressing using old bread I saved and turn into croutons and I sometime do a half cornbread and half herb bread dressing. Keep doing what you're doing because your recipes turn out amazing!!

    I literally have been making this recipe since I was in the kindergarten, I learned this from my grandmother only difference is I use cornmeal and a small portion of jiffy mix, and I use sage, allspice, along with poultry season, I use turkey giblets, but the taste OMG, every year I would make two and three long platters of dressing. ❤️

    • @elizmaybgriffintwo2772
      @elizmaybgriffintwo2772 Рік тому +1

      Allspice? I know that it's used in pumpkin pies. I switch the pumpkin pie recipe using a sweet potato pie recipe no allspice . The next time I make a chicken cornbread dressing. Ima set aside enough for a half a pie pan. Ima purchase sum allspice and add a little to bake in the pie pan. I don't like allspice in pies. Maybe it'll be good if used another way. I'll try to remember to let u know how it came out? I luv cranberry sauce with my dressing. Didn't like it growing up. I didn't like it until I turned 50.
