In the summer and fall of 2021, I flew to New York City twice to explore the food culture of one of the most diverse cities in the world. Across those two trips, I took several trips into neighboring New Jersey, which is known for its massive South Asian population!
From Jersey City to Edison to Parsippany, I let my taste buds guide me to numerous Indian restaurants. There, I ate some of the best Indian food I’ve ever tried outside of India! Joining me were several friends, including viewers and supporters, as well as some fellow UA-camrs!

From the South Indian breakfast, Indian pizzas, and the incredible South Asian in Edison; to the pav bhaji and dosas in Jersey City; to the South Asian sweets in Edison; to the hearty and meaty dishes I tried in Parsippany, my palate was on a wild roller coaster ride I did not want to get off of!
It was an epic 4+ days of eating some of the tastiest food of my life while getting to know lots of new friends, which is the best way to get to know someone!
I could tell you more about the food, but it would probably be more effective if I just showed you. Come with me on one of my most epic eating adventures yet as I experience 100 hours of Indian food in New Jersey!

About Me:
My name is David Hoffmann. For the last 13 years, I have traveled the world in search of unique culture, food, and history! Since starting David’s Been Here in 2008, I have explored over 1,200 destinations in 84 countries, which I welcome you to check out on my UA-cam channel, travel blog, and social media.
I focus a great deal on food and historical sites, as you probably have seen! I love to experience the different flavors that each destination has to offer, from casual street food to gourmet restaurant dining. I’m also passionate about learning about the local culture.
P.S. Thank you for watching my videos and subscribing!
I roll my eyes whenever an Indian tries to teach David on what he is eating. David never shows off that he already knows. He just listens to them so patiently.
He asked questions at the second restaurant.
Because I respect everyone ❤
@@Davidsbeenhere yes you do Sir. Yes you do. 🙏

I loved this documentary. Well put together. The food looked so delicious. Everything was so clean and your hosts explained what was on the menu so well. Nothing was complicated. Second guy, though, needed to lighten up a bit. He was so serious that he wasn't fun to watch. Loved the brain freeze with the Korean guy. He really enjoyed the food too. However, the girl at the end was so pleasant. She explained everything so well and she really enjoyed the food too. So onto the next one.🇹🇹🇨🇦

wow your comment is very very nice.
I agree!! 😊 I'm not Indian but I love Indian food!! It's soul food 🥰🤗
I just want to say that I am in love with Indian and Trinidad spices and food. I have stopped taking my allergy meds because the spice just takes care of it.
Paratha - made with wheat flour, either stuffed or not, on the stovetop
Naan - made with all purpose flour, either stuffed or not, made traditionally in a tandoor oven (but can be made on stovetop however it’s not “authentic” that way)
Roti/Chapati - made of wheat flour, not stuffed, made on stove stop, thinner than naan or paratha
Just opened a Indian /American fusion restaurant and Cafe with a juice bar in Florida with a Indian friend.

Hi David. I am now 70 years old an have never had Indian Food. I am currently on a very strict weight loss diet, but once I have reached my goal this non-adventurous eater is going to try some Indian food. Thanks for the great videos. I sat here for the entire video, not realizing how long it was, and enjoyed it thoroughly. John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.
Thats amazing Robin! Thank you so much for saying that and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Good luck on your weight loss diet, I can't wait to hear how that Indian Meal is when you are all finished with it. Thanks so much for watching and have a really great rest of your evening Robin.
Hi there Till, I made a post about this on my Community Wall. Are you receiving more than 3 notifications from Shorts? Shorts are new and I am just trying out something new after 15 years of long form content. I apologize if its clogging up your feed. Can you tell me what exactly you are seeing because we are unable to see it clogging up feed and UA-cam says they only limit to 3 notifications? Anyway my apologies Till and I hope you'll stay with me while I get this all worked out.

Hi, David, It would be nice if you can contrast the different foods you tried around the world especially from Suriname Trinidad and Guyana compared to what you had India.
nice one
Big fan brother
omg it got crazy when you start pronouncing "lassi" so perfectly and better than nisha
Northeast India (officially the North Eastern Region (NER)) is the easternmost region of India representing both a geographic and political administrative division of the country.[16] It comprises eight states-Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura (commonly known as the "Seven Sisters"), and the "brother" state Sikkim.[17]
The region shares an international border of 5,182 kilometres (3,220 mi) (about 99 percent of its total geographical boundary) with several neighbouring countries - 1,395 kilometres (867 mi) with Tibet in the north, 1,640 kilometres (1,020 mi) with Myanmar in the east, 1,596 kilometres (992 mi) with Bangladesh in the south-west, 97 kilometres (60 mi) with Nepal in the west, and 455 kilometres (283 mi) with Bhutan in the north-west.[18] It comprises an area of 262,230 square kilometres (101,250 sq mi), almost 8 percent of that of India. The Siliguri Corridor connects the region to the rest of mainland India.
Thanks for your videos, my question is why there is no normal dishes? There is or just plastic or just banana leaves? And cristal or porcelain in expensive places? Never’ ve seen in your videos, why ?
There are normal dishes but it's a tradition to eat on banana leaves in south India, but it doesn't mean every one eats on banana leaves! So yea that's it
@@farhinhussain_ I agree with you
I love India I love America super bro
wow your comment is very very nice.
Best food is south indian in this world, no doubt
The dosas, vadas , idli, sambhar, south indian kurma sabzi, etc etc etc 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋

David every Indian restaurant you'll find betelnut pan corner if there isn't just ask the restaurant owner and he'll definitely tell you and you'll find one in 2 minutes 😂

It’s not jamoon, it’s ja-mun, like sun, run, bun… 😊
Get this man an aadhar card😅
David Jalebi is also eaten dropped in milk it's even taste better
chicken 65 was made in the year of 1965 so that's the reason we call it as a Chicken 65
corinder powder
Thank you so much Aref! I am so grateful for your long term support and kindness! Have a great week and thank you for being a part of this channel for so many years. have a great week Aref!
Both David and Mark W have something in common its like when theyre sharing food with others they are so self absorbed the other person has to almost fight to get a bite!! David is eating all over the plate and this poor lady is starving and wants to eat with him but he is so into himself he is unaware of her… Then he eats his fill and tells her time to go!! Lololol DAVID EAT ON YOUR SIDE OF THE PLATE AND DONT MAKE PPL FIGHT TO GET A BITE OF YOUR PLAYED IN LEFT OVERS ALLOW THEM TO EAT ONE SIDE AND YOU EAT OTHER BOTH YOU AND MARK W ARE TWO GEEEDY GUYS!! And even the second guy who shared the chicken with David notice David starts cutting and eating the chicken closest to the guy!! Then asks if he wants some!! Its all about David!!
When I hear Americans say: 'its a 5 minute drive', wouldn't it be more logical and healthy (good for the stomach too!) to take a 15 min walk? Or isn't that an option due to the infrastructure?
To be fair Alycia I have to carry an entire film crew and camera setup with me which quickly makes that 5 minute walk a lot harder than it sounds. But a good walk is always healthy and I support it!
@@Davidsbeenhere Well, that explains. Could've thought of that myself, but I didn't. Thank your for taking the time to explain though! Love your vlogs, greetings from the Netherlands!
bro you keep calling paneer cottage cheese.. dude its more a farmer cheese, than a cottage cheese.. cottage cheese is loose and has small curds, paneer is a firm and solid cheese
👍
Honest and Eggmania are chains. I much prefer local places.
Honest is in New York too it's average Indian food maybe 5/10 imo i never went back doesn't taste as good as most Indian restaurants. It's like McDonald's it's a franchise so the food isnt quality
Pan pan pan is the call to the pagan demon for help by pagans
Bandra East Mumbai mangala nikalje india
Just use "Indian" in title and boom, you get tonnes of traffic
Actually it’s the opposite now for me. 😂
It's pronounced su-kha-dia okay
David really likes to pile on the chutneys with the dosa, but you’re not supposed to use that much… Lol
More like a third of what he uses… you want to taste the dosa, you don’t want to over saturate with chutneys
He doesn’t look like he’s enjoying the pav stuff the mmm and the rolling of the eyes seem fake
If you gonna record yourself eating stop smacking
🤯
Bro... after all that food. You'll definately get diarrhea
Chew chew your food...if you keep wobble wobble and swallow you gonna choke...any all all foods, Chew...look how normal people do it and do same my friend
Lady please don't talk about Surti lochho ugh !
He's tryin to ruine indian custom. ..
Stop being so negative..David loves Indian cuisunes ..it's people ..culture everything .....stop lying ..God be with you and have a safe and peaceful day.

@@mounikau3469 Thankyou ...No one has done so much to promote Indian cuisine as he has ..and I mean no one...Peace and all God's blessings to you have a safe day.
