Brendan Reilly I definitely feel your pain. The heat drives me nuts. But the cold does too lmao I love in Rhode Island it’s always either too cold or too hot
Very cool looking clouds! I enjoy the storms that come in with cold fronts in the winter, where you wake up in the middle of the night to loud thunder. They're exciting to me at least.
I remember this storm. The lightning was so beyond nuts. Every single bolt of lightning hit so close and was so loud. It sounded like constant bombs were going off. I live in Orlando
I kind of felt like I was in the right place at the right time. I just wanted to record a short clip, but as i drove it became apparent that i was driving straight into it . I'd be about ready to stop recording and either the clouds became more bizarre or a bolt would hit
Highway 429 (Daniel Webster Western Beltway) has sparked much growth there. My and aunt lives there off of Winter Garden-Vineland Road but it looking to move out to Lake County, west of Clermont.
Fantastic! I do this every time I am in Central Florida on vacation. I currently live in Southern C.A. but I used to live in Satellite Beach,Florida from 1969 to 1971. During the summer months, we had pop-up thunderstorms almost every day. Some were more severe than others, but most of them only lasted like a few minutes or so. I travel to Central Florida almost every summer because I have such fond childhood memories of living there and also because I love it so much, despite the weather! Being I am a huge NASA fan, that is the other reason. But the summer weather always fascinates me so I began doing some novice storm chasing if you will. In other words, I do the same thing you are doing here. When I see a storm forming off in the distance, I will drive straight into it to see how severe it is. I drove through a real strong one in Orlando this past June on the way back to Melbourne where I was staying. The lightning was extremely spectacular and the thunder sounded literally like cannon going off! Needless to say, the rain was flatout torrential. I got a little nervous because it became hard to see in front of me. I experienced a similar one in Orlando last year after coming back from Old Kissimmee on the way to Satellite Beach. Last years' was in the afternoon and this years' was at nighttime. It's never a dull moment in Central Florida during the summer weatherwise!
omg you guys are nuts. I lived in MELBOURNE ;-) from 1980 -1996 and I am so glad to be away from there... because of the thunderstorms. When we first moved there the thunderstorms were not so bad and far and few between. Towards the end (1996) in the summertime we had them almost every day and quiet severe, so bad that the walls vibrated and be had brick siding and a concrete shingle roof. To me these thunderstorms were more fightening than the hurricanes. My husband once, he was mad at me, got in the middle of a severe storm onto his riding mower and started to mow the grass, lightning stricking all around, some people have more luck then sence ;-))
I have had a fear of lightning and thunder for about 3 years videos like this are helping me get to try to go over my fear thank you great video & they're going to be some thunderstorms in my area next Thursday and Friday so wish me luck
You're very welcome. As I mentioned in the past this was an absolute spontaneous video that I left unedited. It was amazing what I was able to capture. Thank you for the kind comments.
I've been to Florida twice on holiday and the thunderstorms is always the first thing i remember when i was staying in Orlando. We would go to places when it was nice and sunny then by the time we left to go back to the hotel it the sky would slowly turn black with loads of lightning followed by torrential rain. Half an hour later they would pass. I used to watch the storms coming in from my hotel room as well. Fun times.
