I just found your video and I throughly enjoyed your frustration! I been there myself. I have learned that there are about five variations of that same bobbin winder. I learned that Singer changed it manufacturing process at various plants all over the world all the time. I have also learned that some parts are interchangeable and some are not. The first time I needed that latch spring I had to buy a complete bobbin winder unit, just to get a spring. That was over six years ago because I could not find that spring from any of the parts suppliers anywhere. That spring cost me approximately $25 including postage because I had to buy the entire unit from eBay. Ridiculous! That simple spring is not currently available! I don’t know why the Chinese haven’t picked up on this to make a killing. We have continued to restore and donate machines for refugee families, fashion students, quilting groups and anyone who wants to learn to sew. The second time we got a machine with a broken spring I decided to make my own spring. So now I make my own springs as needed and I have several in reserve. I once talked to a local spring manufacture of what it would cost to make these springs. He quoted me a set up fee of $400 and a minimum order of 1000 at $40. I knew I could make money on this deal, but what I going to do with 1000 springs?

Love your videos 😀It is funny & painful. I had the same problem trying to find the right pivot spring for my 99 machine. Ended up buying a whole new/ old bobbin winder just for the spring 🤷🏼♀️
