I like anyone who posts film Camera videos and starts it off with a cup of coffee. I am an old guy who has returned to film along with my digital work.
Back in 1985 I bought a brand-new XG-M from my local K-mart. I owned it for 25+ years. Have 1000s of images. I LOVED that camera. Wish I still had it. Minolta never got the respect it deserved, but they were great.
Hi! The XG-M was introduced as early as Feb 1981... It was discontinued some three years later. A true oldie, based upon the earlier XG-series introduced around 1977, but in a more modern package.
With your film wound back into the canister, all is not lost. Get another piece of film (or the tongue of another film), place a piece of double sided sticky tape (Cellotape) on the edge of the film, insert it into the slit where the film comes out and rotate the spool counter-clockwise with the slit facing away from you until it becomes tight. at this point pull the piece of film back out and it should retrieve your stuck film end. I have done this before and it worked.
nice Minolta XG-M video ! Lovely samples, portraits of the lady in white are extraordinary, but love the Toyota and the wooden pylon too . I use one of my three XG-M 's very often. One of the best analog SLRs Minolta ever made, nearly as good as the X700.
Cool, I recently got reacquainted with my old Nikon FM film camera. It's fun to use it again. There is no harm to shoot film for fun or variantion every once in a while besides digital.
Dude my favorite cameras in order Minolta Olympus Pentax I ditched digital a little bit over a year ago and I fell in love with film! I have 5 cameras in total! Those are good photos for you’re first two rolls man! Keep it up!
I just bought a Minolta xg-m last week! This is my first film camera! I love the pictures that you got. Hopefully I’ll get good results when I develop them too.
I really felt your pain when you said you rolled the film back into the canister because I did the same thing but on my very first roll and spent hours trying to get it out without damaging the film and when I finally thought I had it the film ripped right out of the end of the canister and that was the end of that roll. Luckily it was just some Fuji superia 400 so pretty cheap film to make that mistake on. I just bought a Minolta XG-M and XG-7 together with three lenses on ebay for $70 they haven't arrived yet but I'm really hoping they work like the ad said. Anyway sorry for the long comment but love the video!
Good evening, these are nice photos! I also want to ask - I saw this camera in our thrift shop recently, but it costs around 100$, I really want to get it - but isn’t the price too high?
Great shots Robbie, I wouldn’t even know how to go about shooting on a camera like that haha. I have an old Soviet film camera laying around somewhere back in Ukraine, I’ve been wondering what the photos would look like!

So awesome! Yeah, they are really great cameras. A lot of older canons get all the attention and hype, but I'm really enjoying shooting on my minolta.

Thanks for the info!!
Minolta made some great cameras for sure.

Awesome! Have fun with it, super great camera. Thanks so much, I have 3 more rolls to get developed. Thinking about making a video on those.
You can purchase a film leader retreaval tool and re use the film cartridge
Hi there! Love the photos. Did you use a flash on your minolta for these photos?
Thank you

Haha ohhh nooo. It's terrible feeling right? I felt so stupid 😂
This is inspiring!
Leslie Campbell time to break out the old Nikon!

Thank you!! That's probably an okay price, but you can definitely find one for cheaper if you keep looking.
Can you explain the light meter. It is different from my previous camera so.
I'm still learning how to myself. I was just exposing based on my digital photography experience.
Hi there! I just got that same toy too, I didn’t tried it yet because I was wondering... It need batteries? Or just the film? Nice stuff btw 🔥
Logmx yeah it need batteries. I think they are LR44 batteries. You can get them on Amazon for really cheap

DiscoverWithDima it’s a fun thing to learn man! I’d love to see that camera!
Robbie Campbell I’ve been trying to get it over to the states but it’s so heavy and clunky to deal with haha. I might just do it later this year!
Super Vid ;-) Pls keep on doing analog stuff like this and vids about it.... =)
Thanks, I will! I have plans for some more film videos!
When? =)
These photos aren't edited right? How do people edit film? Do they scan them into a computer and then use photoshop?
No edit, i pulled them straight from the film roll. Had them developed at a mid-grade film developer.
