Nice and comfy bushcraft trip out in my hot tent lavvu in snow and high winds. Cooking tasty food etc. Cold nice weather under the full moon. Don't know what else to say this time other than I had a great trip.
Next time will be much tougher. I set out to try 2-3 days living like people lived for hundreds of years in these northern woods where they wandered by foot and worked for weeks and months at times during winter. I will bring no modern tent. Just my canvas poncho and a wool blanket instead of a sleeping bag. Bringing the kind of food they had. Can this be done without too much discomfort in the midst of winter? Join me next time!

You eat 3 meals a day? The older I get I eat like 1 and a half meals...if that. Of course, my late husband ate way more than me. Maybe it's a man thing. 😊
@@MizRuthie when you hike with 20Kg on your back for hours in the mountains one & a half meals doesn't cut it.

Hi, and thanks once again for your video. It is such a pleasure to watch someone who knows what they are doing. I learnt another trick that you may want to try out? Drill a hole in the end of your ferro rod and epoxy in section of nail leave about 2cm poking out. This helps to hold down your tinder and stops the blade hitting the tinder bundle. It also seems to allow the sparks to concentrate more on to the bundle.

Yes the biscuits will swell and push the bacon off but, how good that will taste. I have cooked that bread many times but never wrapped with bacon over an open fire. Dip in some orange marmalade. Yum.
Just what was needed: a quiet camp with interesting 'real' food. The tent stood well under the force of the blowing snow.

To bring the stove, or not to bring the stove. That seems to determine how easy or tough the winter expeditions are. Personally, I wouldn't leave home without it.
