I CAME AS SOON AS I HEARD. And was not disappointed. It's like Yavanna took this song of pain and prayer and turned it into a lullaby for Mahal's children.
After having encountered this version first, I finally went and listened to the original. I have to say that, while I like the original well enough, I still prefer this version. To me, the fear and pain that this song is meant to convey ring through so much clearer in this version.
Really? I disagree, I think his voice definitely captured the feelings of fear and pain a lot more, as well as the instrumental. The voice in in version is a lot more soft and doesn't give as much emotion. Of course that's not a bad thing as it is a different version, probably meant to be a more beautiful celtic twist, but still. I do respect your opinion though
@@timschommer8548 Yes we seem to be referring to the same version. I certainly heard more emotion there but basically none in this one (again, not a bad thing). So who knows why we hear it differently lmao
@Tim Schommer @Iuna Version is important. I actually heard the live version from Ed first because that's what UA-cam put at the top for some reason, but the music video version is a very different matter. It's hard to decide between that and Celtic Woman now. ua-cam.com/video/2fngvQS_PmQ/v-deo.html

This is just so beautiful. I’ve listened to this cover about a million times. People aren’t wrong when they say this sounds like an Elvish lullaby or one of Yavanna’s prayers of healing. It’s just so...beautiful.
It is strange to think about, don't you think? Of elves singing of an event that they had nothing to do with. A remembrance of Dale, of Erebor and the Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain. And yet there's a sort of poetic wonder to it, just as when the elves sang in remembrance of Gandalf when he fell with the Balrog. It's a lovely thought to play out in your head when you remember how much hate there was between these two for so long.
Just like Celtic Thunder. I'm still salty about some if them leaving, and still not used to Damien's role change, but the sound great. These groups and wonderful at replacements, and I've never heard a bad singer in any of either of these groups
I can imagine Dis, daughter of Thror singing this at Thorin's, Fili's and Kili's funeral with Bilbo gently tucked at her side with the rest of the Company dining deeply and softly in unison with her voice.
Alas Telperion and Laurelin! Never again shall we see your silver and golden lights - for your light was darkened and the West has been closed to us. And it the Valar should pardon us, we will sorrow still; you are no more.
I was indeed referring to the Lamps, rather than Telperion and Laurelin. :P I could not recall the names of the Lamps, but I was intending to refer to the older, purer time of Arda's history before the Two Trees. Still both are highly applicable. :)

This is the Celtic Woman song that produces the fewest tears for me--for now. I used to LOVE Celtic Woman back when I was 13. I was bullied for my love of CW by some kids and a teacher. Said teacher told me that I wouldn't make friends if I kept listening. Fast forward six years and I was fighting body image issues, related to an inability to make friends. I tried listening to Celtic Woman so I could watch Chloë to feel better about my looks, but couldn't. I later learned that the issues were PTSD breaking out--no wonder I couldn't bear to listen to them again! Celtic Woman, I am deeply sorry about my PTSD holding me back from listening to more of your songs. I wish I could keep listening.
Hi Melinda, I know you wrote this a few years ago but I thought it might still be worth replying to. I hope that you're not still having the issues you were when you wrote this. Try to let go of what an ignorant teacher and some immature kids said (they were just children when you look back on it, their opinion is not relevant). Your interests are just as valid as anyone else's. Also, it may be that you have not had an "inability" to make friends, as you said, but maybe rather you were just simply not around the right people. This is very common. Making good friends is not something that happens every day. If you ever wonder again if you are alone in your interests, just look how many people have enjoyed listening to this song.
I was bullied at school and had abusive alcoholic parents. It took me a long time to get pass it. Now at 70, it took me until I was 55 to move on. I hope you can get professional help, living with trauma is difficult for even the strongest of us.
In my soul is strength before unknown. I walk toward destiny unwavering. The fierce wind battering my cloak about my ankles, ripping my hood from my head. My plait threatening to come loose from its bonds. Tendrils of hair whirl about. The castle ahead drawing near. Smoke reaches my nostrils. I see fire and that is where I go.
Wow. This is absolutely incredible. I'm looking up your music for the first time. I should have done it years ago as my grandmother has always been a fan. And this has always been a song close to my heart. You have done an amazing job!!
Not really. The concept of Celtic Woman as envisioned by the creators of the group always planned on a certain amount of fluidity. If we look at, for example, the famous pop group "Abba", (or any of about a million other groups!) the pattern is the same with them all-they burned brightly for a few years, then began to crumble from within, finally falling apart completely with bad feelings between them. This happens naturally with almost every group out there-part of it having to do with big egos, I'm sure. Sometimes they get back together, but it's never the same. Celtic Woman has built in the inevitable "moving on" part, so replacing a member isn't as traumatic to the fans (well, ok, for some...but it is understood ahead of time that this happens and people WILL be replaced), and the creative process, style, and production doesn't come to a screeching halt. Different, but for them, it has worked. Of course we all have our favorites, and of course IMHO CW will never be "the same" as the original heavenly line-up :D Fortunately, Ms. Nesbitt is still the reigning "fiddle fairy" ;) which has kept a thread of continuity for all of us to enjoy.

Celtic Woman, Zyrah and Ed Sheeran. Different versions and all of them are definitely beautiful....love the emotion that this song transmit and the different emotions that all of the versions inspire with a single song!!
Clamavi De Profundis does great work, and the UA-cam Algorithm decided to send me here after one of their coverings of the same song, I See Fire. I love it.
I feel this is a song about the end times cuz we know we will likely see the heavenly fire when jesus comes back to take us home get right with god.he is a loving and forgiving god all you need is ask his forgiveness and turn to him

everytime I hear this song, my brain plays: o misty eye of the mountain below, grim keep careful watch over my brothers souls , and should the sky be filled with shadows and dragon bones... - although no one ever sang this
It sounds like they added the other ladies partway through the song, In an earlier version here on UA-cam, its just Mairead solo. I have to admit, I love both versions.

Oh, misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin's sons
If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night
Calling out father, oh,
Stand by and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side high
And if we should die tonight
We should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Calling out father, oh,
Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
Hollowing souls
I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
Oh, should my people fall in
Surely I'll do the same
Confined in mountain halls
We got too close to the flame
Calling out father, oh,
Hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
The mountain side
Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire
Inside the mountain
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
Hollowing souls
And I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
And if the night is burning
I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns
Then my brothers will die
And as the sky is falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow upon the ground
I hear my people screaming out
Now I see fire
Inside the mountains
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
Hollowing souls
And I see fire
Blood in the breeze
I see fire (Oh you know I saw a city burning) (fire)
And I see fire (Feel the heat upon my skin, yeah) (fire)
And I see fire (Uh-uh-uh-uh) (fire)
And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side.
Thank you!

everytime I hear this song, my brain plays: o misty eye of the mountain below, grim keep careful watch over my brothers souls , and should the sky be filled with shadows and dragon bones... - although no one ever sang this
Ha. Brother, I will stand with you as the sky fills with shadows and dragon bones.
This is one of the most beautiful covers that I have ever heard!~ ^_^
agreed
No joking but this song sounded heavenly.... i dont even remember the last time when i enjoyed a song this much....
i wish they would also sing The Last Goodbye.... that would make me cry but i know it would be beautiful
I love this version. Such beautiful voices.
Vibrations heal!
I think this is my favorite song of my whole life. It just Never looses it's life and beauty!!
I'm glad such music still exists, so nostalgic and melodically perfect
It sounds like they added the other ladies partway through the song, In an earlier version here on UA-cam, its just Mairead solo. I have to admit, I love both versions.
+The Swordguy I prefer the solo version only not this version.
So beautiful, so beautiful, so beautiful oh my goodness this song is so beautiful and same with these woman and there voices, are just amazing I'm in love with this song and this band
