Different versions, different types of beauty.
Which is more beautiful, a sunrise, or a sunset?
Still the kind of beauty that causes my soul to weep
    (together with my eyes.)
    Thank you, Ladies!

But beauty of a Sunset is a celebration of the day, though it must end, it is the joy of a life lived. The joys and sorrows of a life, or a day. It must end, and be embraced with grace and dignity.

After having encountered this version first, I finally went and listened to the original. I have to say that, while I like the original well enough, I still prefer this version. To me, the fear and pain that this song is meant to convey ring through so much clearer in this version.

    • @moniquethomas4966

Same. I'm 100% with you on this. Ed Sheeran did a spectacular job with the songwriting but didn't quite capture the feelings with his vocals.

    • @luna-mo3ol
      @luna-mo3ol 2 роки тому +7

Really? I disagree, I think his voice definitely captured the feelings of fear and pain a lot more, as well as the instrumental. The voice in in version is a lot more soft and doesn't give as much emotion. Of course that's not a bad thing as it is a different version, probably meant to be a more beautiful celtic twist, but still. I do respect your opinion though

@@timschommer8548 Yes we seem to be referring to the same version. I certainly heard more emotion there but basically none in this one (again, not a bad thing). So who knows why we hear it differently lmao

@Tim Schommer @Iuna Version is important. I actually heard the live version from Ed first because that's what UA-cam put at the top for some reason, but the music video version is a very different matter. It is strange to think about, don't you think? Of elves singing of an event that they had nothing to do with. A remembrance of Dale, of Erebor and the Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain. And yet there's a sort of poetic wonder to it, just as when the elves sang in remembrance of Gandalf when he fell with the Balrog. It's a lovely thought to play out in your head when you remember how much hate there was between these two for so long.

Oh, misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
    Keep watching over Durin's sons
If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night
    Calling out father, oh,
    Stand by and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
    The mountain side high
And if we should die tonight
    We should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
    Calling out father, oh,
    Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
    The mountain side
    Desolation comes upon the sky
    Now I see fire
    Inside the mountain
    I see fire
    Burning the trees
    And I see fire
    Hollowing souls
    I see fire
    Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
Oh, should my people fall in
    Surely I'll do the same
    Confined in mountain halls
We got too close to the flame
    Calling out father, oh,
    Hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn auburn on
    The mountain side
    Desolation comes upon the sky
    Now I see fire
    Inside the mountain
    I see fire
    Burning the trees
    And I see fire
    Hollowing souls
    And I see fire
    Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me
And if the night is burning
    I will cover my eyes
    For if the dark returns
    Then my brothers will die
And as the sky is falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow upon the ground
I hear my people screaming out
    Now I see fire
    Inside the mountains
    I see fire
    Burning the trees
    And I see fire
    Hollowing souls
    And I see fire
    Blood in the breeze
I see fire (Oh you know I saw a city burning) (fire)
And I see fire (Feel the heat upon my skin, yeah) (fire)
And I see fire (Uh-uh-uh-uh) (fire)
And I see fire burn auburn on the mountain side.

This is the Celtic Woman song that produces the fewest tears for me--for now. I used to LOVE Celtic Woman back when I was 13. I was bullied for my love of CW by some kids and a teacher. Said teacher told me that I wouldn't make friends if I kept listening. Fast forward six years and I was fighting body image issues, related to an inability to make friends. I tried listening to Celtic Woman so I could watch Chloë to feel better about my looks, but couldn't. I later learned that the issues were PTSD breaking out--no wonder I couldn't bear to listen to them again!
Celtic Woman, I am deeply sorry about my PTSD holding me back from listening to more of your songs. I wish I could keep listening.

Hi Melinda, I know you wrote this a few years ago but I thought it might still be worth replying to. I hope that you're not still having the issues you were when you wrote this. Try to let go of what an ignorant teacher and some immature kids said (they were just children when you look back on it, their opinion is not relevant). Your interests are just as valid as anyone else's. Also, it may be that you have not had an "inability" to make friends, as you said, but maybe rather you were just simply not around the right people. This is very common. Making good friends is not something that happens every day. If you ever wonder again if you are alone in your interests, just look how many people have enjoyed listening to this song.

    • @colleenh7809
      @colleenh7809 8 років тому +30

Not really. The concept of Celtic Woman as envisioned by the creators of the group always planned on a certain amount of fluidity. If we look at, for example, the famous pop group "Abba", (or any of about a million other groups!) the pattern is the same with them all-they burned brightly for a few years, then began to crumble from within, finally falling apart completely with bad feelings between them. This happens naturally with almost every group out there-part of it having to do with big egos, I'm sure. Sometimes they get back together, but it's never the same. Celtic Woman has built in the inevitable "moving on" part, so replacing a member isn't as traumatic to the fans (well, ok, for some...but it is understood ahead of time that this happens and people WILL be replaced), and the creative process, style, and production doesn't come to a screeching halt. Different, but for them, it has worked. Of course we all have our favorites, and of course IMHO CW will never be "the same" as the original heavenly line-up :D Fortunately, Ms. Nesbitt is still the reigning "fiddle fairy" ;) which has kept a thread of continuity for all of us to enjoy.

It's as if I have gone from aftermath of the Battle of the 5 Armies, the memorandum after Thorin's Fall, from the halls of Erebor to the Elven forest kingdoms, where those that cared to offered tribute to the fallen, their take on a song of the Deep Man.

Oh, misty eye of the mountain below
Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
    Keep watching over Durin's son
If this is to end in fire
Then we should all burn together
Watch the flames climb high into the night
Calling out for the rope, sent by and we will
Watch the flames burn on and on the mountain side hey
And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
    Calling out for the rope
    Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn on and on the mountain side
    Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire, inside the mountain
I see fire, burning the trees
And I see fire, hollowing souls
And I see fire, blood in the breeze
And I hope that you'll remember me
    Oh, should my people fall
Then surely I'll do the same
    Confined in mountain halls
We got too close to the flame
Calling out father hold fast and we will
Watch the flames burn on and on the mountain side
    Desolation comes upon the sky
Now I see fire, inside the mountain
I see fire, burning the trees
And I see fire, hollowing souls
And I see fire, blood in the breeze
And I hope that you'll remember me
And if the night is burning
    I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns then
    My brothers will die
And as the sky's falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow upon the ground
I hear my people screaming out
Now I see fire, inside the mountain
I see fire, burning the trees
And I see fire, hollowing souls
And I see fire, blood in the breeze
I see fire, oh you know I saw a city burning (fire)
And I see fire, feel the heat upon my skin (fire)
    And I see fire (fire)
And I see fire (burn on and on and mountains side)

So many people are all so damaged and hurt or traumatised these days it makes having real friends, brotherly, sisterly love, or Agape love, God's love, so very hard, and romantic love almost impossible.
No longer being able to trust or think the best of others, but fearing and perceiving only the worst. Unable to hope or have faith that people are not going to do what others have before or have only the worst intent or motives, shadows new and current situations. Making moving forward and finding better relationships, community growth and strengthening, and recovery from the suffering or wrongdoings of the past in need of a major effort on all our parts to not continue to make that which is the only thing that has got Humanity this far, the only thing that has been what all beings yearn for most and is the true sustainer of life above all others.
Without love in all its forms, nothing would remain or last, or ever want to go further.
    Love is Alive.
May it never die in our hearts or in our hopes.
    DrB
    ________
agape, Greek agapē, in the New Testament, the fatherly love of God for humans, as well as the human reciprocal love for God. In Scripture, the transcendent agape love is the highest form of love and is contrasted with eros, or erotic love, and philia, or brotherly love. In John 3:16, a verse that is often described as a summary of the Gospel message, agape is the word used for the love that moved God to send his only son for the world’s redemption. The term necessarily extends to the love of one’s fellow humans, as the reciprocal love between God and humans is made manifest in one’s unselfish love of others. See also charity.
The Church Fathers used agape to designate both a rite (using bread and wine) and a meal of fellowship to which the poor were invited (Jude 1:12). The historical relationship between the agape rite, the Lord’s Supper, and the Eucharist is still uncertain. Some scholars believe the agape was a form of the Lord’s Supper and the Eucharist the sacramental aspect of that celebration. Others interpret agape as referring to a fellowship meal held in imitation of gatherings attended by Jesus and his disciples; the Eucharist is believed to have been joined to this meal later but eventually to have become totally separated from it.
